- Hello everyone. Today we'll take a look at SteamDeck, one of the most popular portable consoles (PC) at the moment and one of the most affordable, which runs even modern games like Cyberpunk 2077. But of course it is not without its disadvantages, about which more details in the video. Enjoy the video.

If someone tell you Windows is better, they are uninformed.
misinformed*
@@zadesirius uninformed "not having or showing awareness or understanding of the facts." which is apt for this correction
Or they just like playing some of the most popular games out? And not indies and old PlayStation games.
The only big Flaw of Steam OS is that not every Game supports thats it and could be for me the sole reason somebody would use Windows with all the Jankyness and bloatware.
I don't understand. In some ways they're more informed, because they understand that Windows is more likely to be able to play their game, especially when they use third party launchers, or many multiplayer games with anticheat software. There's just weird compatibility issues with some games on SteamOS. Really depends on what games you play. Or maybe you want to use it as a Desktop replacement. Hook up something like an ROG Ally X to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, and you've got full Windows, with access to Microsoft Office, Visual Studio Community and much more.
Steam Deck is great if you just intend to play Steam games on low settings.
there are 3 factors that contribute to the steam deck still being SO good
1. Devs want their games to be playable on deck, so they fine tune graphics settings to allow good deck performance
2. Graphics have been slowing down the past few years, these days the difference between a RTX 2080 and 4090 is huge, but you don’t need to upgrade as often to still play games at high graphics
3. near daily updates that address community issues within weeks of their discoveries (when possible)
It's also mosre expensive and consume x4 to x5 more power.
Ngl Zelda ran better on the Deck than it did on the Switch for me

You mention that the Steam deck may not be an alternative for games where you need to see players from a distance, where they will appear as a dot. You can still plug this into a TV and use a Bluetooth controller, very similarly to a Switch.
And what's the point of buying a portable device just to play in front of the TV? The graphics will still be worse than on consoles, so for playing stationary in front of a monitor or TV, it's better to buy a console or a PC.
@@ITWednesday-w2s there’s the obvious “bring a console with you to a party” use-case, or traveling but wanna play on a TV.. much more portable to carry a deck than a console any day no?
@@ITWednesday-w2s or use Steam Link on your TV, like I do... totally seamless.
@@ITWednesday-w2s Because sometimes I want to play a Co-Op game with my wife on the couch? Like CupHead or TMNT Mutant Mayhem. Its also the base model was cheaper than a Xbox Series X or PS5 and the same price as the Series S but portable. Not to mention I have my entire Steam Library on it, I don't own a Xbox or PS5 so I have no games, it's a Portable PC, that means you can also bring it to the Living Room, or hook it up on a Hotel TV (Which I did while at an IT conference) Options are better than No Options.
I use my Deck as a portable console in the house or on trips.
But plugin it into the TV is nice for a chill evening on the couch or when I play Lego games with my son, it is easier for him on a bigger screen
I got a used 512GB LCD last year for less than $350 shipped. It's been nothing short of a marvel for emulation, handheld gaming, and a docked desktop experience when needed. The software 'just works' in the way Todd Howard could only dream, and it's also slipping a full version of Linux into the back pocket of gamers everywhere. Many of whom may dabble or gain more daily familiarity with one of the most powerful enterprise OS in the world. If I were M$ or @ppl3 right now I'd be crapping my pants. The future is owned by those who make it, and if the Steamdeck continues on this trajectory I see it becoming the dominant platform for entertainment and media in the future. There won't be a need for a commercial OS in a world dominated by Linux!
I absolutely love my deck, I was hooked as soon as I saw it and knew I would like one for the portability aspect.
The Steam Deck was revealed 3 years ago but it's been out for literally 2.5 as of this writing. Hoping for a Steam Deck 2 in late 2025 at the earliest, but definitely sometime in 2026.
so many single player games work well on this device, love playing witcher on it atm
Is this an AI voiceover?
Yes, it is! Personally, I wouldn’t risk starting a channel with AI voice, as TH-cam tends to demonetize them.
It also sounds like the script for this video is made by AI as well, there’s some strange sentences. Full AI channel. Insane
It's only been less than 2.5 years bud. I got first wave pre-order in Febuary 2022.
Yes, but you have to admit, 'after 2.5 years' doesn't sound as impactful, and if we wait for another six months, the title will be relevant again)
@@ITWednesday-w2sYes thats understandable
I use my steam deck with a mouse, keyboard and monitor connected. its not far off from a normal desktop linux machine!
steam deck can play games with base ps4 settings on a big screen sometimes even better since you can use 50 hz. For example black flag ran at 30 fps 1080p on ps4 steam deck can run it same as ps4 or 50fps 900p ( with minor frame drops but it feels much better than 30). Dark souls 3 has also the option of 50fps 900p or 1080p 30 similar to ps4. but to be honest I prefer something like an rog ally for big screen experience especially when steam release steam os officially because it can give you extra power when docked.
You deserve much more subscribers man. I was shocked to see that this wasnt a big review channel. subbed.
Thank you very much :)
Really good and informative video. Good luck!
Steam Deck is the best console out right now. Also the song in the background gives me GTA V opening mission vibes.
do a Lenovo Legion Go review in 2024 dude I like your viewpoints !!
Of course, I'll do it, I just need a little time. Thanks for watching! 😊
i got to say: i never thought seeing games like witcher 3, gta 4 or 5, fallout 4 and so on on a fricking handheld... these are huge pc games... and they dont look shabby at all... altough the steamdeck is 2 years old and there are other and stronger devices out now, its still crazy to me
and seeing the used prices for devices like new for under 300 euros is again: crazy
this is a handheld that redefined handheld gaming and still is because of:
repairability
good OS implementation and stability
ergonomics
community
battery runtime
it plays most games... i bet its 90 percent or more of the steam library... only newer graphical intense games have trouble...
but there are thousands of games... i think its crazy when people say "eew it cant play this or that".... its a handheld + it does more than enough there are so many games and only because of a game beeing old doesnt mean it sucks...
for example: :i play fallout 3 atm on my 6950xt gaming pc
💯
I am watching your video from a docked Steam Deck connected to a monitor and keyboard. It has completely replaced my laptop and gaming pc. Windows pushed their luck too far with aggressive adds and invasive features. I'm a SteamOS Linux nerd now.
But What should I get in terms of Games availability? Steam Deck or N. Switch? I can't decide.
I have a huge black deck and the ladies love it!
0:23 I can't play civ vi any longer without the steam deck
what the game ?
Nothing like playing old delisted steam games on Steam Deck like Driver San Francisco and Transformers Devastation
Back then i had the Choice personally of choosing a PS5 or a Steam Deck.
The Steam Deck had at least for me been the better choice because its way cheaoer in the long run for example no Online Subscribtion or heavy Limitation for Themes that i loved on my PS3 & PS4.
Hype Games and Early Acces Games come first on Steam then somewhere else besides some Console Exclusives.
Looking back i do not regret choosing it but would have wondered what it could be.
What game is shown on 2:19?
do you even own the steam deck? seems like the majority of the footage is from someone else
That’s right. I figured that high-quality footage would look better, even if I didn't film it myself.
Why do you even care, if it's a video. Review matters
@@AVStudio10 because daily I see videos come out that takes someone else's footage, writes script with chatgpt and then generates voiceover with ai or some one records voice over it. So just because it says review doesn't mean video creator even has the device. So I'm just being suspicious...
@@globalhit okay yeah I agree on that part, but as a new creator what options does he have.
@@AVStudio10 Recording footage and voice yourself, writing the script without any training wheels. You do things the way people originally did decades ago.
GoW runs like ass on the deck...crashes every 5 min. Def don't buy it for the deck only. The entire Steam discussions forum for the game will tell you the same thing.
Should I buy a Steam Deck Oled or Logitech G Cloud
Logitech G Cloud is an Android tablet with a gamepad designed for game streaming, while the Steam Deck is a mini PC where games run natively. They cannot be compared as they are completely different and were created for different purposes.
Games at 0:35 and 3:35?
can someone tell me the game on 4:22
btw very good and informative video
Streets of Rage
steam deck is good but they need a new one, its way behind now, you either tinkering with the deck to get games to work or you updating windows, so pick. your poison, with windows at least you can play any game

Yeah.. Launching dragon's dogma 2 on this kinda destroys this statement

WDYM. It sounds normal to me.
This has ElevenLabs written all over it
It’s an entirely AI video, the script and the voice
And it still not released in India after 3 year and import version is so expensive that you can buy 2 ps5 in price of 1 steam deck
That sucks dude!😢
if the steamdeck can run gta6 at 30 fps locked without looking like absolute trash....it will be a hot seller. ppl want to play games but the fear for consumers is that it will be obsolete in a few years. not even a regular console lifecycle. it needs the powuh..just make a setting to where more demanding games needs to be plugged in
GTA 6 doesn't launch on PC next year, let alone Linux. It's a console release first. Probably at least a year later on PC. I doubt R* will put much effort into making it Linux compatible.
Even IF it was playable on there. I'd rather buy a regular console or PC. I really really don't like playing under 60 fps. I know a lot of people with a Deck don't really care. I see a lot of reviewers play Zero Dawn, Cyberpunk and whatnot with barely 40 fps. But that ain't for me.
very unlikely, it has diminishing returns.. you can only pump so much voltage through it without just making it unstable/damaging the apu
@@dukkiegamer1733 Rockstar doesn't need to make the game "Linux compatible". If it runs on Windows, it will run on Linux via Proton. I get your point, but all's they need to do is release it on PC. I also do agree that if a game isn't 60FPS on the Deck, it's generally not worth playing.
@@adds-kz3oc Rockstar engine uses vulkan which linux uses, so no translation but it wouldn't make a difference to performance.
@aviatedviewssound4798 regardless of the graphics API used, their games are still compiled for Windows. So there will, in fact, be some translation for the Windows API calls the game makes.
