a digital casio, in matt black, for the price of a a lunch and a dinner? in the shape, that would fit the batlogo perfectly? in a style, that michael knight would wear it to talk with K.I.T.T.? how on earth this watch could not be ice cold?
I'm just grateful a company like Casio exists and decided to bring out vintage watches. They can create premium vintage watches if it was up to me. They are definitely worth buying.
I just purchased this one and as someone who's wardrobe mainly consists of 90% black I very much enjoy the aesthetic of this one more than the other models. Yes it can be hardly legible as you described but the inverted style I very much enjoy, and the backlight is there to help if I need it.
Ive the LW204 which is exactly the same, with a more minimalist face and a resin strap, which I changed for a black stainless steel one like on the b640. Looks amazing.
Negative displays always look good on pictures. They make sure the watch has a strong light shining on them when taking the photo's. Same like shops place them under a halogen lamp when on display.
I have this watch in normal metallic case and strap (no blackout). It is a very nice watch with a interesting feature that you didn’t tell. The alarm can be set to work every day, in specific day of the month, in specific month or specific day and month (once a year). The waterproof case relly pays what the watch costs. Don’t be afraid to swin. It is a very nice watch for your money.
Definitely cool. I bought this about a year ago and I absolutely love it. I’ve had a lot of compliments for this one. Yes, the reverse display is not very legible, but the watch looks great especially for someone who has a small wrist like me
I did purchase this watch for myself as I really like the look of it due to it being all black. On wearing it however even though I have a small wrist it still wore a bit small and the negative display was a bit of a problem sometimes but nothing major. I have since given this watch to my granddaughter which she wears daily at work as it is a reliable watch and has the 50M water resistance which is useful for her in her job. I have since bought the 5610 G-Shock both with the negative display and the positive display and they are the first G-Shocks I have ever worn and they are great watches. For this watch it definately deserves a COOL rating for the design alone and it's quite sturdy as my granddaughter would also acknowledge since wearing it in practice. Thanks Ben for another great video.
I absolutely love how concise and yet detailed your comments are. I have been looking for a chilled and soothing British accent to imitate as I move to Europe soon. I will practice so I can sound as trustworthy as you.
I like it quite a bit. I usually prefer blacked out watches but I honestly can't decide if I prefer the silver original or this one. I just love these old casios in general though. They look stylish, retro and can go well dressed up even if you aren't an accessory snob.
Nice I have this watch and I love it. This was my very first Casio ever and Im 33 years old but it has inspired me and I simply love this watch. also early this year when my son turned 10 years old, I bought him this watch since he had always liked mine and I gave it to him along with a letter explaining to him how he was turning in to the double digits and how this was more of an accessory than a toy (as I would buy him on previous years) and he loved the idea and the present.
A key function included in the B640 model (I believe it's the only vintage/retro Casio that has it) is a *countdown timer*. I am getting the B640 for this reason.
Have owned this now for 3 years. Whilst i lived in Portugal went wavesurfing with it all the time. No water problems at all. Does heavily scratch up btw
I use this watch daily, it is my favourite casio digital watch. I have it on my wrist as I watch this video and I'm thinking about buying a second one just as a backup. I'm a fan of casio watches and I've gathered a small collection of them. To anyone who complains that it is small, maybe casio is not the right choice for you. I have a large wrist and I still think it's the perfect size. I think the point of wearing a casio is that it's small and ligt, why would you want a heavy, bulky watch on your wrist as something you wear daily anyway.
hey, how has it stood the test of time? does the bracelet get decolourised? does the colour wear off? also, since the case is made of resin, does it show silver colour if knicked? Please reply, I am planning on buying this one as a daily beater. Thank you:)
It's cool. All black presents itself really well. At that price, even if you don't wear it but a couple of times a month, you still can't go wrong. Casio is the Rolex of really low cost time pieces.
This is the best button layout. If they could make it out of steel with a sapphire screen (also without the negative display), I would pay a ton for it.
I've had one for years. Two, actually, since I was afraid it'd go out of production. Love it. The bracelet was a bit skinny for my taste, so I grabbed a metal one from eBay that's the same width all the way around.
Picked this specific model up recently during my latest impulse shopping spree regarding one of the hundred hobbies and collections i am doing. I have to say, i love my seiko watch, picked up a incredible steal on a swiss automatic, but i see me wearing this one the most in my daily going abouts. I love how low-profile it is and don't find the black screen that hard to read. Plus the blacked-out look makes it a bit more different from the standard old ones in my opinion and that makes it more special for me. Will be switching my grandpa's automatic seiko out with this one the most but it is ice cool for me tbh.
The reverse LCD is not my cup of tea - it really makes it difficult to read the time, and that is a big negative for me. If we talk about the standard LCD version, then it is OK. The button placement is a bit weird indeed (I have a W800H with the same placement, and I always forget where the light is - it is not that intuitive), but you can live for that. No issues for me with the month-day date format, which is not only the American way, but also the Japanese way and the ISO way - my aforementioned W800H has the full date in year-month-day format, and I love it. Short: the standard LCD version would be very cool, but I find this one cool-ish bordering on lukewarm.
Have had this watch for the past 6 years. I rarely take it off my wrist no matter what I do, shower, pool, ... It looks pretty banged up now, but is going strong. Haven't needed to change the battery yet. I have no complains about legibility either.
I'm surprised of how many people is complaining about readability on this watch.. I have never had any issue whatsoever reading the hour on this watch (I've had it for 6 months).. I also have the a158.. yes it has bigger viewing angles than this one and other people may be able to see better the hour on your watch.. but who cares about that.. I prefer the b640 because it is better in every aspect except readability (much better light, better WR, countdown timer, better alarm, better stop-watch, moro info on screen, full automatic calendar.. etc..) For me it is the best thin digital casio watch by far.
I own one of those and it is great! The look is great even after more than a year, even though it took some scratches here and there. Paint is holding up just fine and I still got some hair on my one bushy arm 😂.
i've been having casio crush for the greater part of my 42yr life. Speaking of crush: i also love Tintin - and somehow... has anyone told you you would be the perfect match for a real life Tintin? Even voice-wise - totally enjoy it mate! Great vid as well, thanks a bunch! Instant Sub!
Every time I watch your Casio Retro Watch video, I'll buy one. Amazon, please send this guy more Casios. Great review. Saying from a lifelong Casio fan.
Honestly, even if it's water resistant up to 5bars, that'd be 50 meters underwater. At this depth, you'd be wearing a dive computer instead of a Casio.
Care to make a quick video comparing the displays on all of your inverted display digital watches? Seems like all are a little less visible than normal, but still variy widely?
Tempted to get one of these just to put the metal bracelet on an MQ27/MQ38 plastic tank. They’re both 18mm with overhang. The black pvd bracelet would really class up the analog, which tend to have a nice looking dial, and the resin strap from that might work well here.
I think it would be a good idea to get hold of a G Shock Square to review, your Casio reviews are very popular & while G Shocks are bigger, I think they would be popular too. Cheers
I like negative displays but Casio's negative displays are notoriously difficult to read unless looking at them straight-on and in perfect lighting. I own a couple and they don't make it into my rotation very often for the simple fact that I don't like having to concentrate and focus on the watch face to check the time when a quick glance should suffice.
Thanks for a great review… Your channels come along way! I Haven’t seen anybody else look at this one. I’m a sucker for Casio’s...I give them away as gifts regularly allowing me to free up some space in my Casio-designated-watch-case.Looks like it’s time to give another one away as this one will be on order as soon as I’m done typing! Cheers!
I freakin love this watch but unfortunately it's too small for my wrist. I returned it and got the B650WB-1BVT from ebay. Still a cool watch but bigger and more suitable for my wrist.
Ive the LW204 which is exactly the same as the B640 with a more minimalist face, a resin strap and less expensive. I changed the strap for a black stainless steel one like on the b640. Looks even sleeker.
It would be so cool if this watch was available with without any text or graphics on the face except maybe the Casio logo in dark grey or black on black. Very subtle. A watch like _that_ could, in my opinion, really go places. It could be iconic.
I own the sporty brother of this watch, the LW-204. Although visibility really looks awful in camera, it's not nearly as bad in person (especially in a well lit room) and you just get used to it in no time. I love it because it kinda looks like a smartwatch with is black crystal screen and it has just about everything I ever need. Sometimes I've found myself setting the alarm to a specific time snd date just to remind me to write it down in my agenda later, works wonders
I'm guessing you explained this in a previous video, but why are certain parts of your reviews blurred out, especially when talking about other watches?
I have one like this and it's a really fun watch. I love the fact that it's so light, I hardly feel it on my wrist. I can't say the same thing about my Seiko Arnie!
My last casio steel banded watch lasted me about 5 years before the adjustment button gave out. Decided to go for a larger Digital/Mechanical hybrid watch this time around. Love my new watch but something about the smaller size of my last one I kinda miss
Apparently this is essentialy a gshock 5600 BB1 module from the button layout and features. I have a 5600bb1 and is identical and honestly I think as far as negative displays go it is one of the best because the font is thick/bold, much much better than the small font in a calculator casio for instance which is unreadable.
I have the metallic silver one mentionned at the end... I love it, however, the plastic casing is only painted on the outside, therefore it is EXTREMELY prone to scratches I also have the similar Black one with the clear digits and this one is pure Black plastic so the scratches are less visible
✅ I currently own this model and I love it no problems at all easy to read and surprisedly no one scratch very light weight and the bracelet adjustment allows me to adjust from summer to winter easy, I also bought the B650WB-1BVT which is like the big brother with similar design 👍 cheers !!🍺
Trust me the edifice lineup will surprise you. Just go to the website and you will be surprised. There is a particular solar chronograph finished in black with red accents. Beautiful
Every time I'm tempted to try a Casio digital, I can't stop asking myself: what's the point? Mechanical watches I get. But digital? It's just too close to a smart watch that I might as well getting a smart watch. Also, you need to be really cool to pull it off without looking like someone from 80's who just woke up from a coma.
What would be the resin band cousin of this model? All of the Casio watches that come with a steel bracelet have a relative that has a resin band. Edit: Doing some digging, found out that the W202 would be the resin cousin :)
I am a new subscriber and enjoy your videos. I have noticed there are occurrences where the screen goes totally blurry for whatever reason. I’ve seen this on more than one occasion is there a reason for it?
It's cool! However, I have the Casio Edifice ECB-500 and it has the reversed LCD on it, and it is very readable at different angles, so that makes me wonder what they did to this watch to not make it as readable?
I've tried to like Swatch watches over the years but there's just something about them that I can't warm to. I think it's because they remind me of kids toys. I love Casio vintage style digitals because they remind me of cool futuristic stuff.
Unfortunately, when I looked at B640WB at the shop, the difference between materials of case and bracelet was way too obvious for me. So I decided to not buy this. A700WEM-7A or GW-B5600BC - that's what I call good material blending.
Nice one! Actually bought it few days ago as a daily and this digital obsidian style classic still pleasin' my eyes. Downside is it people might mistake it for the cheap 10 bucks verson at a distance.
Hey great channel. I have a 1980 Casio (H104) Melody Alarm and one of the pushers(button) is missing. How generic do you think they are? Would love to know what to order so I can refit it. p.s. I've tried Casio themselves and they wouldn't help. They just said we don't have any information on that model anymore. Any advice and/or leads would be most welcome.
Looks great but its relatively expensive. Only a little bit expensive g 9000 or g 9100 offer better water resist, shock resist and same function and looks amaizing too.
With the Casio branding being a near-white colour, I think it would have been better if the display text as the same colour (both for ease of use and aesthetics). Still looks cool though.
i was in search for the F91 with green face but they didn’t have that model in the shop and as i was going to leave the shop the seller gave me the B640 all black to try out and guess what i bought that one instead and im having a blast flexing with it hard 10/10 in my eyes gl to other casio hunters
I want a digital watch for working in a hospital as a doctor. I am thinking that the Casio Watch W-96H is a good choice. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
Most of Casio watches cannot display date in European format. I have Protrek PRW-2500T with a duplex display and they couldn't implement this feature... Kind of annoying.
I've had this watch for a couple of years. I've enjoyed wearing it, however, the finish has worn of quite a bit on the links near my wrist, revealing the silver metal underneath the black. Because of that, I'd say getting the silver metal illuminator is a better buy than this one .
It can kinda disguise as a smart watch due to its blacked out face. I didn't know about this model... It's small and not so squarish in shape as the others Casio with similar sizes. Do you know if the F-91w strap fits and looks nice on this one? That would be a big deal for me.
I think it fails to be "ice cold" because of the legibility issue, but it's cool. I've heard the same thing about other digital watches with white-on-black displays.
can you talk about the casio poseidon ? not a new watch but a really elegant looking watch from the early to mid 1990s it had a stainless case with a gold colored bezel a black analogue dial with gold colored marks and a chronograph on the bottom
Looks super cool! Unfortunately it's out of stock in my country. We have the B640WB-1B"D"F version instead, which has this weird shiny, metallic effect.
does the bracelet get decolourized with regular use? also, does the casing show silver colouring when nicked? Please reply. I am planning on buying this one as a daily beater.
I have one. Unworn for a while as I battered it as a work watch and now have a larger Casio. A great looking watch, but too small. Doesn’t need to be huge, but would definitely benefit from being a few mm bigger.

I'm holding two more as we speak haha

Picked this specific model up recently during my latest impulse shopping spree regarding one of the hundred hobbies and collections i am doing. I have to say, i love my seiko watch, picked up a incredible steal on a swiss automatic, but i see me wearing this one the most in my daily going abouts. I just got this watch to replace my Apple Watch 4. I have no regrets at all.
Hey Ben, another great video during another Casio hunt. Could you chime in on the B640 line vs the W-202 or W-86 even? All the best!
Battery life. Plus retro cool.
Yep, another Cool Casio!
Don't worry what people think.
Nice. The numeric is white, does it make it easier to read in the dark without pressing the light button?
Hey great channel.
I have a 1980 Casio (H104) Melody Alarm and one of the pushers(button) is missing. How generic do you think they are? Would love to know what to order so I can refit it.
p.s. I've tried Casio themselves and they wouldn't help. They just said we don't have any information on that model anymore.
Any advice and/or leads would be most welcome.
Honestly the best cheap casio fm function point of view are W-93h. If they would make bigger screen, steel case and vibroalarm it would be bestseller.
Looks great but its relatively expensive. Only a little bit expensive g 9000 or g 9100 offer better water resist, shock resist and same function and looks amaizing too.
"a tiny bit chunky" - I've just recieved this watch and it way smaller than I hoped. It looks gorgeous though, but I think I'm sending it back.
My collection started with this watch in the Rose gold colour. Still one of my fave watches
I want a digital watch for working in a hospital as a doctor. I am thinking that the Casio Watch W-96H is a good choice. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
GW 5610 1ER
Is all you would need
£90 in the UK
An all rounder a small compact and very durable watch
Most of Casio watches cannot display date in European format. I have Protrek PRW-2500T with a duplex display and they couldn't implement this feature... Kind of annoying.
I've had this watch for a couple of years. I've enjoyed wearing it, however, the finish has worn of quite a bit on the links near my wrist, revealing the silver metal underneath the black. Because of that, I'd say getting the silver metal illuminator is a better buy than this one .
you can get replacement bracelet exactly the same in aliexpress. Its about 4 dollars. I did it.
Cool except for the light of iluminator it would be great that it was blue
It's a nice model and looks more expensive than the silver siblings. I give it a Cool vote.
I'm just looking for a full black "work" watch, thanks for this review. ❄️❄️❄️
Might be perfect if they put full iceblue illumination under the lcd...
I recommend g shocks, namely G-5600e or CasiOak GA-2100 1A1.
I have both of them.. Love it. Most beautiful watches on the world.. Cheers 🍻🇷🇸 Serbia..
It's a ripoff on US amazon. It is selling for $68. Get it on ebay which sells it for $37.
Are u sure they aren’t fakes
@@edgarbier7461 doubt it since it's a sub 100$ watch so it isn't worth making knock offs of.
1810 Jeff Look up How to spot a fake F-91W. They’ll fake almost anything and you definitely need your wits about you on eBay.
I just got one on eBay and it's a fake, that's why I'm here wathing casio videos. Just like other people say they will fake everything.
@@edgarbier7461 I know that a $65 casio is a rippoff, at least with eBay you are protected from fakes.
I was about to pull the trigger until you mentioned the US date format. Thanks for the video.
i think the a168wgg ib is better on the negative display
I have one. Unworn for a while as I battered it as a work watch and now have a larger Casio. A great looking watch, but too small. Doesn’t need to be huge, but would definitely benefit from being a few mm bigger.
Can you advise on a bigger Casio, all black. Thsnkd
I'm wearing the F-105 on my wrist right now!
