@ Sarah Camille Briones If you look at the dates you will see mine was created 11 months ago, hers 3 weeks ago. I have never copied anyone else's work!. But it seems someone likes to copy mine. The layout of her videos and even the thumbnails are almost identical.
American heiresses married titled, cash poor aristocrats from throughout Europe, not just Great Britain. But the majority were certainly British. There were more than 300 such "arrangements" in the mid to late 19th century and early 20th century.
I think Kathleen would’ve made the most interesting duchess! She also would’ve been the happiest since she married for love. Her husband also wasn’t broke and was just as rich as she was. It would’ve been interesting to see her as a Duchess who is also a sister of a president.
I started watching this video looked at the clock and 40 mins had passed I was was so enthralled I could have sworn no more than 5 mins had gone by and that's why I love your videos.
Thank you for sharing the stories of Dollar Princesses. ❤ I've always been fascinated by the world of high society so I love to learn as much as I can about the world of high society, the people who live in it, and the traditions, culture and history that come with it, all the while daydreaming of one day experiencing it myself in some way. ❤
I really enjoyed this vid. Of course, after almost every tidbit, I wanted more! Thanks for the tease which has now motivated me to research more about these ladies and their world of "High Society".💖✌😉💋
This should be your next play list, do a video on each of these interesting ladies. As always, loved this video! Rebecca, thank you so much for this video.
Yes there are so few informational videos on the dollar princess on TH-cam but everyone references them in videos about the late Victorian and Edwardian eras
Poor Wallis - new never before seen letters are coming out now; Wallis desperately wanted to stay with her husband Ernest and he with her but “playtime” with Edward 8 had gone too far and he was threatening to kill himself if Wallis left him to go back with her husband.
I didn't think Consulo Morgan had enough money to be a $1 princess. Always thought of her as a social climber. Kathleen Kennedy married Billy for love. Maybe there was a final arrangement with Joe Kennedy but it wasn't the reason they got married.
It seems some of these women were great successes. Pretty sure that’s bc that knew exactly what they’re were getting into. These aristocrats had huge country piles but they were all outdated, falling apart, and had zero modern conveniences. These rich girls were accustomed to the best of the best especially in a new age of innovation & industrialization. These girls didn’t do as well. Apparently the ones who didn’t view the marriages as a transaction had a worse time than the ones who realized their family money was paying for their entrance into the aristocracy. Edit: wasn’t that the sister of Henry Thaw who murdered Stanford White at Madison Square Garden?!
Gladys Deacon (pronounced “Glay-Dess” French style ) is so freaking fascinating, I can’t get enough of reading about her, unfortunately there’s a ton of misinformation about her and focus on the wax/Vaseline injections, an early form of plastic surgery. Just got through reading “Sphinx” by Hugo Vickers about her life, he knew her in the last 3 years of her life, I highly recommended it.

Consuelo Vanderbilt was in love with Winthrop Rutherfurd who later became husband to Lucy Mercer, mistress of Franklin Delano Roosevelt
And the circle goes round and round
Thank you, I had not heard of a lot of those women, it's so interesting, and the photos were so good.

It's pronounced Brookline -- with a long i -- Massachusetts; not Brooklyn.
