It is sad that the stigma of HD has worked against so many children of HD families. I would hope more folks will become more open to sharing about genetic diseases like HD within their family history. Genetic tests are such an invaluable tool for both family planning, financial planning, and also for health care decisions. Children should not have to be facing a life suffering with this mutation these days. I hope things work out well for the kids in the Osborn family and they don't inherit HD. But they at least have a family strong enough to help them deal with HD if either or both do end up with HD.
It reminds me of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Southern Africa and the damage it has caused and the stigma attached to it. It is better now with more education and resources for the affected and infected, but it has wiped out entire families, made children caregivers for their infected parents, and created so many orphans. It used to be unheard of to speak about it but now people have become more and more open, much like with HD.
Honored to know Don King for a few years through the HDSA national convention.
Thank you! He was amazing! I’m glad you met him!
When I watched this I was shocked. I can’t imagine how she felt finding out her husband had HD after all the work her father had done.
This is the true meaning of life
Thank you dear heart
