You should’ve bought a can of spray glue and adhered the board to the carpet in the trunk. That’s the carpet won’t slide and bunch up when you put items in the trunk.
Call your local carpet installer or hardware store. If they install carpet, they will have scrap. They will usually give it away for free. I’ve gotten a lot this way.
