Hi Gary,
Got the Tomahawk and surprise Willys Jeep.
They will look great together at the same 1 72 scale.
The only downside with these is the glue they include but that gives you the chance to have that true modelling start experience. 😊 Even for experienced kit builders, as you say, they are great kits to have fun with. Only use what is in the box to build them, merge two together, weathering and so on. Great kits to do as a break from something bigger. Hopefully it encourages some people to take up the hobby too.

PS Just noticed these ones don't have any Flying Hours on them unlike previous stocks.
Alright, I use the Humbrol cement to make 'Sprue Goo' - pop it in a glass jar [Tamiya paint jar] with some chopped-up sprue or styrene sheet and it forms a thick paste that is great for filling and adding strength to [unseen] joints.
Been to my local Lidl today, the kit they had were the Spitfire, Tomahawk, Gnat, Willys jeep, Sherman and the Tiger tank. I think that stores stock six kits of whatever
is available locally as there does seem to be some variations between stores as to what kits are on offer.

Thanks Gary. Just visited the Burgess Hill store, no sign of the Zero, but came away with the Yellowjacks Gnat and the Curtis Tomahawk. If anyone else is heading there, there are loads of them.
They don't seem to be mixing them well. Our local had one Gnat, one Tomahawk, one Spitfire, half a dozen Jeeps and loads of Tigers, enough to fend off the Soviet Union. It was the Tiger I wanted though 😊
Hi Gary. Thanks for the heads up, very timely. My Lidl (pronouced "Leedle" apparently, though cleverly capitalising on our englishisations) had the Spitfire, Gnat, Tiger and Sherman as advertised but instead of the rest a Willys Jeep and Tomahawk (P40). I must try another shop for some others.
May I also suggest that, for experienced modellers they could form the basis of a diorama at no great cost.
As an aside, this offer has the paint and glue but is cheaper than the same model without when bought normally.
Also a source of cheap birthday presents.
Going to check mine out at 9.00 this morning....and they BETTER have that yellowjacks Gnat...missed out on it last time

Hi Gary, just checked Lidl's website, and it appears to be the Curtiss Tomahawk 11B, not the Hawker Hurricane that they're offering this time. I'm hoping to nip down and get myself one later, if there's any left! 🤞🏻😄 Oh yes. I forgot to mention, they also have the Willy's MB Jeep set. Nice to have a couple of new models to choose from. 👍🏻
Do make sure they have those kits though - I was told by Airfix that the offer was the same as last time (last Xmas) and they didn't do the P-40 or the Jeep then. There seems some confusion on the Lidl website.
@@garys_stuff Oh right. Thanks for letting us know Gary. 'Inside' knowledge and all that. 😉 Think I'll still pop down and have a look if I can though. As they're such a bargain price. Maybe get the Cutty Sark or double up on the others, for practice purposes. 😁
Someone has said they have seen the Tomahawk and the Jeep so maybe drop by Lidl anyway. BTW it's not the information I got from Airfix just two days back!

The Jeep was in the advertisement at Christmas, but I couldn't find any. I suspect there's a disclaimer about, while stocks last and offers subject to change. But I remain hopeful. I'd like the Jeep, the Curtiss is one I've not built and I'd like another go at the Zero.
Thanks Gary. Just got back from Lidl having purchased the ones I wanted. The two tanks will give me the chance to relive my childhood as I built a Sherman and Tiger when I was about 12 years old.
Also, they had some Quick build kits for sale.
I just found a few in the clearance section in my local Lidl. Picked up the tomahawk for only £4.89!!!

Just got the last Gnat kit in the Selby store. Spitfire already gone, if indeed it was stocked. Couple of tanks left and quite a few Quick build ones.
I must say the tiger seems a good idea as I've talked myself into building 3 tanks and havent built one before. Great video Gary everything made sense, really helpful. Thanks.
The Tiger goes together really well but painting the wheels is a bit of a pain.

My local Lidl had no sign of the Tiger, or the Zero. They did have the Willys Jeep, and Curtis Tomahawk though. I wonder if there are regional variations. I'm in the South West

@@garys_stuff Checked in Billingshurst, West Sussex and no Zero - there is a mismatch on the Lidl website about what is available - the pictures and description are not aligned it seems..... would love a Zero though 🙂
Nice one Gary. Different assortment in my local Lidl in the West End of Newcastle - nabbed a Willys Jeep and a Curtiss Tomahawk [Mediterranean RAF scheme with the lovely Azure Blue [157].]. No Flying Hours on them though - AirFix oviously got wise to the fact that they were giving us a bit TOO much for our 7 quids haha.
Well these were all originally starter sets in their range, so they would have had Flying Hours. Maybe they use different boxes for these offers because I think they make them to order.

I remember the 1/24 Spitfire Mk.1 being £5 in my local model shop. Sadly, it was well out of my price league back then. I was lucky if I could afford a Matchbox kit at 52p.
I really enjoyed the Cutty Sark. I'll be popping in to pick up some kits, it's a travesty I am yet to build a Zero or 109!
The Zero is a really nice little kit if you can get one.

I picked up the tomahawk as missed it last xmas
I actually found the two OTHER kits (1/72 Curtiss Tomahawk IIB RAF P40-B A55101 and 1/72 Willys Jeep, Trailer and 6PDR Gun A02339) SO there might be others????? they had 8 or so of these as well as some of the ones above, and the price is £7.99 each, but no Hurricane.

I don't think so, I don't think it was in the US last Xmas at all. I think it would have to be Airfix USA doing a deal with (say) Walmart or someone, not sure they would handle it from the UK.

I was planning on getting the gnat,but I was I was a little unsure when I saw your review because of the yellow paint.
It will be fine if you get some white primer to spray on first (making sure you cover the canopy of course!). Then the yellow will shine nicely. Make sure the primer is for plastics.

My Lidl have a 20% off voucher on the app, so that brought the cost down to £5.60p each.

Just saying, You in the UK quite lucky to have this....in 70s the price of Airfix still in reachable by school boy like me, now I'm working and still when you looking at current currency exchange it's really mad expensive. Long gone the day where pocket money you save for few weeks can afford a cheapest Airfix range. ( And off course UK is where Airfix born so Airfix treat you well..ha..ha..ha..)

@@garys_stuff just checked and no luck...asked the staff would they be getting them in and they said if they are not in the current edition of the in store magazine then they wont be getting them.😥

Keep checking if it's easy to get there because sometimes they don't always deliver across the UK on the same day. Last Xmas my local Aldi was a week late in receiving their consignment.

I'm rather jealous of you people in the UK. Lidl Ireland do not appear to be participating in the airfix summer deals, just like they did not do so last Christmas. Unlike Aldi.
