P-51D comes with 2 canopies because of the ' Dallas hood ' if that one was made in Dallas ,Texas.
the other canopy is if it was made in Inglewood , California
( Dallas hood has a slight flat spot on it's top front where it meets the fixed windscreen )

The P-51D, is a great little kit.
    Very fun to build

I ordered the mystery bundle for a couple of reasons 1) take the thinking out of which kit to buy 2) possibly a bit of challenge in doing something I wouldn't normally piçk. 3) give myself slightly discounted kits to learn to use an airbrush on. 4) couldn't afford the vehicle mystery bundle.
So far I've started on the Spit and the only problems i had were entirely of my own making (trying to use 15 year old Citadel black paint and not spotting the bit of flash that was preventing the fuselage halves around the cockpit from going together. ).
The Mustang is I believe the same model as was released in RAF colour scheme and which I did do a few years back.

It's exactly as you said "What they scrapped off the warehouse floor."

I ordered one of these bundles some time ago (maybe years now, I forget), but the P-51D kit came in mine and if it's basically the same as A01004A then it's a really solid kit. The reason for two canopies might have been for a variant.
I got a Defiant and a F-15A starter in mine (yay, more tubes of that awful cement).
By awful things in the post, did you mean Revell kits by any chance? :p

The P51-D is a nice kit. If you build it, and include the pilot figure, ensure you paint his skin dark. The aircraft is a 'Red Tail', which shows it to be piloted by one of the justifiably famous 'Tuskegee Airmen', who were all Afro American. I was really pleased that the new P51-D tooling was released as a 'Red Tail'.

I ordered an Airfix mystery package and got the 3 identical kits. Very boring, tbh. I'm just starting the hobby so I'll practice on the Spitfire & Mustang. Seriously thinking of attempting a 'Luftwaffe '46' thing with the Mig 17. Or maybe getting some Polish or Czech decals for it. Bit disappointing that they are just using this to offload excess stock rather than giving you some really random stuff

I was hoping for something a bit different, but I suppose I should have been more realistic. Still, nice kits. My wife may have a go at one of them, for a giggle.

If you had done some research, even other utube searches, you would realise that everyone gets the Mustang and Spitfire. Certainly not 'random'.
The MIG is the one that interests me more. Made so many Mustangs and Spitfires....want to sell the MIG?

Agreed. In all the scales really. Military is OK, but it would be interesting to have other options too.
