I have no idea why 5th and 6th gears are almost exactly the same, if anyone knows then please let me know because I am very curious. If I had to buy another transmission I would perfer the MST-205 because the gears ratios are more spaced out and just seems a little bit better, especially for the racing mower!
They look the same but count the teeth. I really don't know either, those gears are pretty close together, if i remember correctly(I bet you went oer this in the vid LoL)it's only one tooth different and aobut the same diameter gear. 820 is the one you want to look for imo. 6 speed sequential like a 206 and has 1 inch axles, bigger tires.
If you can find a cheap set of used atv wheels and tires you can use the center section of the original wheels with holes drilled to match the atv wheels pattern. Done it on mine and it’s worked fine
Mine dont turn for shit anyway, think ima do this soon. I agree with ya about the gears. I wish it had like, 3. My mom's Troy built has a dam 7 speed. Like what do you do with 7 gears cutting lawns?
Very cool modification! Where did you get the idea to weld lock the transmission? Now that it’s done, do you notice any difficulty turning sharp corners now that the rears are locked? Nice job!
I got the idea mainly from FearlessFront, and yeah ican tell a difference at turning lol, I might need to upgrade the front tires to a more nobbier tires because turfs are not really doing much. I drove it around a lot more and yeah the front tires slide a good bit!
Hey man quick question if you lock your transaxle on a chain driven gear box will you loose a few gears. Because I put the gears the same way I found them after I looked them and now I only have 5 gear all forward in reverse
@@domjoey7514 When I do something like that, I like to take photos or videos so when I put it back together I can. For example the bowl gear had a dot on one side and after looking at the footage it went in facing the left side of the transaxle(toward the short shaft).
You need to get some confidence Mr. you have had both of those machines about half apart already, you can handle locking the diff.😛 Just need to only weld it where it needs it and careful how much hot you let things get. Ground as close to the work as you also(I pretty much try to do that with everything).

Yeah! I kinda want to go 820 but it is kinda expensive and Idk what kind of lawnmowers come with an 820. Do you know any mowers that come with an 820?
@@IngenGarage any large mower with 12 inch wheels, manual, and 1 inch axles, no lugnuts
and 8 inch front wheels
@@spudstudios3342 Thanks man!
That was an incredibly informative video for being made by a high schooler. Great work!
Thank ya sir! Just graduated too.

Alright thanks man!
@@IngenGarage absolutely, keep up the great work
Good video!
Thanks!
Awesome vid! I would weld thr diff in my craftsman, but idk if the Hydro can handle that! Either way, great video man.
I believe Redneck Computer Geek has a video on how to do it on a hydro.
Just might take a look at that! Thanks!
22s will fit and clear the shifter. I have 22 11 8s on my mud mower and 20 10 8s on the front
Nice!

@@Shorty4808 No problem! I know his videos are like a decade old but I still enjoy watching them lol!

Usually some of the transaxles have a chain for the reverse, but there maybe some forward as well. I just lock the spider gears on the differential.
@@IngenGarage same here and I used to have 5 forward neutral and reverse now I only have 5 forward
@@domjoey7514 Oh ok!
@@IngenGarage I was just wondering maybe I did something wrong but I put it in the same way I took it out
