- A young woman surviving in the ruin of the world meets a mysterious traveler and dangerous salesmen.
This is a post-apocalyptic short film that sees Marza braving the Wasteland, after her mother died. This leads to some intense interactions, and is just one of many Tales From The Wasteland.

I don’t understand why this is getting so much hate. A few acting lines are weak but overall I think it’s great considering it only had a $3000 budget. The camera work was the best part in my opinion.
Stirling Studios: Yes good camera work but unfortunately marred by a shallow plot, illogical plot devices, and props with which the production crew is clearly unfamiliar as to usage.
@@cray9868 I underestimated how much story i could keep, having to trim a 20 page script down to just 13 is difficult. But this is not the end. I intend to someday make this the way I intended. Without school guidelines and the ability to throw a little more money at it. Plus, I've certainly learned a lot since working on this, directorially anyway. Can't wait to take another crack at it.
Music was excellent and appropriate.

You should watch "Odeland ". Now THAT is a true film of excellence. This short film had bad acting, was unrealistic. It did have some good elements, but overall, realistically, what female is going to hole up in an OSB shack, with a dead body wrapped up, while she is being threatened by idiots, wearing a stupid cap...lol. Watch Odeland.....and then compare....you'll see a difference in excellence.
Check out revelation road just as great dorsen Creek actor unbelieveable.

This is a top-tier postapo short. Very organic, as opposed to over-produced nonsense coming out of Hollyweird. All around well done. But I'm not a movie critic like some of the experts here in the comments.

what is amazing is that postmodern technology is enabling virtually anyone to produce and globally disseminate good movies and music at the drop of a hat. I love these homemade movies and the youngsters who mostly produce and star in them. This is so cool
One of my favorite things to do is to go back and watch famous director's early movies. Makes me comfortable in knowing even the greats started out small. Keeps me patient.
Being truly alone can be extremely difficult. Clearly, Marza couldn't be alone anymore. Good film.
All of y'all complaining about the gas mask need to pay attention to the film. The way the girl reacted when she took off his gas mask and after he said "Don't remember me this way" should have given you the idea that maybe his face was disfigured in some way or something and there was an actual reason behind the use of the mask.

I was captivated, for that to happen it means, at least for myself, that this was worthy to watch.
A sad ending. Some are disappointed that Riley face wasn't shown. It's self explanatory that his face was disfigured. I'm glad the decision was made not to show his face, after all, it'd have nothing to do with his features, just use your imagination on that issue.
The story and performances were really good.

Very nicely done! The grading and the cinematic shots were very good. The sound, the volume mostly, could have been better. But hey I'm about to make two short films in the coming months and if they are as good as this one I'm a happy man.

Finally after watching a whole bunch today I found a good short film. Very good job guys, especially with the story, it felt very complete for its short 12 minute run time. Only gripe I had was that I felt the two older men didn't look enough like they were in an apocalypse. Maybe they were from a precocious camp or something. Anyway, very good job, this deserves significantly more views. I hope I can be a part of something like this one day.
Dylan many of the gripes people have, including yours, stemmed from our production schedule and extremely tight budget. But I’m happy to hear you liked our little film! You’ll have to keep an eye out for our Q and A episode.
Yeah I can imagine, I think you did amazing with the resources you had. Sometimes smaller budgeted films turn out so much better then anything in Hollywood because you are forced to think about things more. By the way, this short had some of the best shots I've ever seen. The opening scene was fantastic! Also I love the interaction between viewer and creator, you almost never see that with films, I'm excited for the Q&A. Keep it up!

The story is continuing in a way... hopefully I can begin production in the next 5 years or so. For now, I’ll keep working on other shorts.

I know this is a year old, but I’d like to give my two cents on it.
First of all: while it was ok to not see Riley’s face, it could have been pretty cool if we did, latex is easy to use for special effects and there are probably tons of tutorials on it.
Second of all: loved the film, it was pretty good, it had some draw to it, making it very interesting.
My intention was that we leave Riley’s face to the viewers imagination, but another answer is that we were pushing what little money we had and had 0 time to work on latex effects given we filmed this in 2 and a half days.

But understand it's an after effect of when their are no more Christian ever. 1000 years of hell on Earth with a real new world order,even Allen's have access to earth the time zone is open to all demonic forces just like the matrix,same but more porfound on human kind demons and all. Then Christ comes to take the earth the planter look at revelation 22:all.

MY theory on gas masks in all these post apocalyptic movies is - they add mystery and drama, they hide features making the characters less individualistic and therefore more sinister.

What is it with these post-apoc films where some guy wanders around in a protective mask that only works with daily filter changes. Clearly these guys in a post-disaster scenario do not have access to a bunker full of unexpired mask filters, so its pointless to even use the mask.

Overall concept was good. Not a fan of Riley being killed, but it plays into the story line.

Aahhh man. Nice work guys! This film was amazing! Though the acting was okay and all, but the set piece was great! I loved the atmosphere you created and you made me care for the characters. Felt it when Riley was Shot. Keep it up!

That is correct, unfortunately we had 3 minutes to get the shot and the actor didn’t want to die for the movie so it is what it is.

Galactic Pug Nation glad you enjoyed it! Yep, we loved that song as well. Surprisingly easy to get the rights to it, record label helped out a ton. As for the fight scene music, it was made by our composer but he used the fallout track you’re referring to as a reference.

Cool M46 overcoat. Don't see those in any condition any more. Too bad it has DRMO stitching on it. In order for the M17a1 mask to work you have to wear it against your skin though, wearing that cap underneath it would cancel out any benefit you would get from wearing it.

This genre, "post apocalyptic" short film, is so over-used, that, just to save space, it could be called "posf" or just "po".
I always look for people with their sanity left.. it can be very difficult though, since there's no laws existent to keep in age of the apocalypse..

The cinematograhy was good, opening scenes were absolutely fantastic. Seriously one of the best opening scenes from a short i've seen. Very impressed. Most of the acting wasn't too convincing, except from the Riley character. Some of the dialog felt a bit forced. The death scene was visually pleasing, just wish there were a bit more of that. Action scenes are hard to make realistic, unfortunatly, but all in all, well done.
What camera did you use? Nice color grading.

I don't know how long riley was wearing his gas mask but the filters are only good for a few days, and in an actual chemical environment, one day max and then it has to be changed. but a small ok movie.
Bobby French I’ve said it a few times in comments here, but the mask is purely to hide his face, as implied by the final scene. But I can see how people would think it is for chemicals in the air

And her post apocalypse press wood box didn't look very old either. I hope they remembered to remove all the Home Depot stickers from the $50.00 of new lumber they used in this ridiculous video. They get a D- for effort, a D- for original story, a D- for creativity and an F- for plot.

The rest was great. I didn't mean to shit on the whole thing, and maybe it's just because I'm a veteran that those two things stood out. Keep making movies. You guys have a lot of potential.
The reasons for the characters actions makes sense. The motivations were believable. I should have said that first.

Cinema Jacket Productions you could have put tape over the hole, repaintec it and voila: a grenade that was not obviously a demil.
Some of the problems I have within the first minute:
A bit TOO Fallout-y
-Crawl out through the fallout
-"Wanderer"
Not as real feeling
-Who just leaves a radio behind? Scrap it for parts!
-Characters look to clean
-If the guy is wearing a gas mask, there must've been radiation at one point, where's the lady's gas mask?
-Why does the guy trust the girl? For all he knows she's a cannibal!
Not as much passion was put into it
-I feel as if the story was rushed, in Merv it had no dialogue, letting us think of the characters past. It was set in the outskirts of a ruined city, murky water, rubble and debris, with devastated skyscrapers dotting the background, this one is just shot in the desert with a filter.
Insert Clever Name the mask was never for radiation. It’s purely for what is hinted at at the end.
Also I don’t think it is fair to say not much passion was put into it. We worked on an extremely tight budget and shot 6 days worth of scenes in just 2 and a half. Our cast and crew did the best they could with what little time and resources we had. The original cut of this short was 15 minutes long and had to be cut down to its current time, so a lot has been changed in ways I didn’t like.

The girls acting was little weak, but her crying scene was pretty solid, even heartfelt…yes, I love good crying scenes!!
