Gate 128, a mysterious place, promising salvation from the extinction of the female species, draws two struggling survivors (Rose and Camilo) in a post-apocalyptic world. The last known female on earth, and her protector must finish their dangerous journey past the world outside of Gate 128.

I was about 19 years old when l worked for a very wise and self educated man. The end of the world seemed close even then. It wasnt that l had any specific reasons or time line but it was just a feeling. During a break my boss and l had a conversation regarding my "feeling" about this. He gave me, from his own experience a conclusion as to the mental state of mankind as to how the last 2 people, man and a woman would most likely end up.
He says, "You would think the last man and woman left on Earth would be like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the whole world at their disposal. You would think they would get together and repopulate the Earth as Adam and Eve did." But then he says, "The mentality of humans has changed since then. If the world would end today, the most likely senerio would be that both of them starving because of a lack of survival skills and modern civilization to supply their wants and needs, the man, being stronger would most likely just kill the last woman and eat her." After giving me time to digest that (mentally) he added, "But then yet again, never rule out that the woman, being more cunning, wouldnt kill the last man and eat him. Either way, humanity is doomed."
I was sadened by this revelation, quite reasonably. lm now 58 and that was nearly 40 years ago. My feelings of doom and gloom have not subsided, nor has my own experiences with mankind given me any hope that my mentors predictions would not come true. Mankind isnt getting any smarter as a whole. l doubt another 40 years down the road, mankind will get any better but will instead progress as he has towards his own destruction. When l was younger l often thought of my self as that last man and asked my self what would l do. My only conclusion was to make sure who ever that last woman was would be adequately fed so she didnt kill me in my sleep and eat me. So much for relationships built on trust, right? lol Now lm older. lts unlikely lll end up that last man. Some day though, some man will be. l can only hope that he reads my comment here and gathers some wisdom from it. Yet considering the odds in that, l think humanity is just doomed. Humanity is just that stupid and the video above is an excellent illustration of how stupid humans are. 👍 for the movie short. lts very good.
I'm 60 and my daughters have always been horrified by my childhood memories; Vietnam, Joplin, Hendrix. Morrison, civil rights, busing, Kennedys, MLK. They ask me what was so great about growing up in that era and I say Not much, other than we had fireflies.

Part of your story you were told by this wise man comes from a movie titled "A Boy & His Dog" which stars actor Don Johnson...this movie was made in the mid 70s. In this dystopian world where survivors live bizarre farming lives underground a young man discovers this community, falls in love with a young woman living there, then they escape back to the surface of Earth. I won't spoil the film in case you haven't seen it. Watch the film.
I'm blown away by the amount of comments and views on this video. Unfortunately due to some technical issues I've lost access to this account, but I really appreciate everyone that has taken the time to watch this short film! I know it's cheesy, and sure the directing isn't the best, but I set out to make a short film in a time in my life where I had complete lack of direction while dealing with severe depression from the death of my best friend. I had written this script back in film school as an attempted pitch for our final 35mm class. The professors liked the story, but ultimately thought it would be too high of budget to make. I tucked the story away and moved to NYC after graduating trying to chase the "dream" of making it in the industry, but I failed in a few months. Out of money, and out of hope I returned home to Asheboro, NC. A small town of a population no more than 20,000. I was fortunate enough to land a few gigs here and there and through saving money and the great help of the indiegogo community I raised enough money to make this. Even though it was my first short film, and I was just 19, I believe this film saved me at the time, it gave me purpose, it gave me a challenge, and most of all it showed me that I could do this! So again thank you to everyone that has watched, commented, and liked this short. I'm currently in pre-production of my first feature film. I've matured a lot as a filmmaker, and have learned a lot from the past that I hope to bring to my next film!

It was truly amazing. The story is interesting and the main actor is truly talented- didn't look low budget as it wasn't in need of CGI or special effects. It was different. You have a gift. It is one of the best short films out there. Could you imagine what you can do with a big budget and dedicated support team and seasoned supporting actors for the main 1?? The movie left me with some hope as well as thought provoking moments. Was this gate part of what the Bible explained or was this something else? I am going to watch again. I hope you to see your name in lights one day. Take care

That was a great film. Reminded me of The Road meets Children of Men. Liked the whole feel and imagery of the movie. Great ending.

The sense of desperate futility was clear. The males being both good and evil was believable. The cunning and survival instincts of the two main characters might have been a little more elaborated. Overall, I think everyone made a commendable effort. Cheers!

I knew she was from the very first words Rose and Cam spoke to each other. Their dialog didn't make any sense unless she was pregnant.

One of the better post apocalypse shorts I have watched on TH-cam so far but I don't understand the reason why they all seem to leave such an open ended conclusion. Is that a requirement or just the nature of the beast? And it would be nice to know who the guy the film is dedicated to and his influence on it. Enjoy.

This is a movie that has you second thinking did she make it was they able to save her and the baby or what🤔😦 a truly sad movie ending 🙁😓
I have to say, I found the writing more compelling than the actual film. Don't get me wrong, I did like the film but I felt the story was brilliant. I also felt that the beginning for me was the strongest part of the film. When they are in the field and the very brief part when they are exploring at the beginning was superb. I admire people who don't just throw action in right at the beginning of the film, but instead take the time to create a beautiful opening scene.

I really wanted to like this, but way to unrealistic. They guy has been protecting her for years yet the best he has for a weapon is a knife, in the U.S. ?? The girl is the biggest whiner considering what she has grown up around, jackets were spotless in many scenes, why is he walking on a road and when caught they try to outrun a vehicle instead of just running off the road and into the forest that was just a few steps away... That's just to name a few. Sorry, but hopefully all the helpful (not mean/nasty) comment's will help you in your next short.. Thanks.. :)

I would recommend a steady cam for the moving shots mate and practise with cutting up your shots because it seemed like there was either frames missing or there was shoddy cutting. however I would like to say that when you introduced the guys in the house, the focus on the axe was really nice. the grime and costumes looks authentic too! OH and the chase was really nice.
or at times it was iffy actors were iffy but at times it was great and the actors were great but overall a very well done film good job

Well written and acting was good. But what is beyond the gate? Was it true what that one guy said? That they experimented on the women? Wouldn't matter for Rose if she died from being shot. Maybe the one that shot her did her a favor. Interesting idea here. Reminds me of a movie, don't remember the name, where women no longer could conceive. And then one was found who was pregnant and a few were trying to get her to place of safety and refuge. They succeeded. This would be good as a full length film or a series.

The original location we had was so awesome, but we had a massive rain storm come in and delay our shooting as well as flood the location which meant having to pivot to the gravel road in a few hours. I was pretty happy with what we got given all the restrictions and complications of the weather and the tight shooting schedule. If I could do it all over again, I'd definitely use the first location which was super creepy and away from roads.
Pretty good actually, be nice to get a hint at those behind the gate though.

was there a few frames missing around the 0:54 mark? otherwise the shots leading up to it were really nice cant judge on the rest because i've not got further than that yet

They're around lots of water, but are never moved to wash?
Plus there's a disconnect between the dirt on their faces and the dirt (or lack of) on their clothes.
Makeup is an art and a craft. Lots to learn.

They had access to water so why the filthy faces. Nobody purposely leaves grim on their mugs...
Because in low budget films when the Assistant Director is also your make up artist, production coordinator, prop master, some things aren't going to be the best due to how many hats they're wearing.
Great camera and sound work. Excellent production values but a weak story that never went anywhere. Made no sense at all. Really a waste of talent and equipment.
