Good film. Mostly because I am a dad with a daughter. Some things just resonate. Conscience, past regrets, decisions made without divine foresight, ignorance of unknown realities. It is just like real life ..

Truly frightening and totally realistic post apocalypse scenario. Forget hordes of flesh eating zombies or beserk AI army or alien invasion; being alone and responsible for a young teenage girl with no access to make-up, friends and internet signal is every parent's worst nightmare.

I greatly enjoyed this film. Your locations were excellent. They really helped immerse me into the reality that they were alone. The story, I thought, was gripping, but what happens? Well done.
Nice to see one of these short films reveal what happened. Most don't. Scientists will go too far one day maybe. Playing dangerous games. Good job on this one.
Awesome cinematography. Really good use of depth-of-field. fore-to-back focus, etc. I like the pan across the staircase rails as the character stands at the bedroom door.
The story-line was a little quick on the uptake. Maybe a scene or two of the lead character dreaming about the problem. Another scene or two of the "Pursuer" carefully tracking the dad and remembering him being arrogant, etc.
This one is better than most of the Post-Apocs that are on YT.

Oh, sorry almost forgot. Makeup was very well done. The daugher's face and clothing looked just right in my opinion. Thank goodness, this wasn't another one of those "Wear a gasmask and run around killing people" plots..

Why do they need to be filthy? They are surrounded by water and the best way to survive is to stay clean and free of bacteria, so they would wash.

Im suprised so many of these post apacoloptic films are urban based, i,d definitely head for the coast, plenty of fish, water you can convert to drinking water and less population, build a raft/ find a boat and you're safe from attack.
Martin Smith well as a short film with little to no budget, these places are best as they look very cinematic, but they are deserted so it gives the emptiness vibe. On no budget making a film in the city would be hard haha
Great film!! But you know those dialogue scenes around the campfire? Yea so for that continuous background noise, would you record a separate recording of just the background noise and slap it on with the dialogue?

Yes we knew we were filming next to a river, and we really didn't want to do ADR as unless done properly, it always sounds terrible. So we recorded about 1 minute of silence at every location we went to so that we could lay it as a base track to cover up silence and to drown out any bad background noise. The fire scene was a combo of a recording of the river, a recording in the woods and a recording at the camp fire then all mixed together. Adds a bit of depth to the sound. :)

I'm 16 btw and these older guys I know who graduated are working on a sequel to their first film which looked like crap shot with your everyday camcorder, but I'm a tad bit of a perfectionist and have a Nikon D3300 so they got me to be the cinematographer, plus I've wanted to get into filmmaking for awhile now, but never had a camera XD sorry about the long message, thanks! Happy filmmaking!
It is a more emotional movie of hope and survival. Just a little slow but good
well done on a post apocalyptic film with story, 3 dimensional characters! I'm sure you've done your research and have seen the other PA films on here, I know I've seen alot of them...and my God the majority of them are terrible, weak plot and story, action just for the sake of it, flat uninteresting characters and cliçhed dialogue to name a few characteristics! The sign of a great story is where the protagonist in pursuit of his goal has to face a deep weakness that he lives with, well done on casting strong actors too! I'm currently composing a story for a script and then to direct it in order to get into the festival scene/get on a professional film set, have you any advice in regard to making a short film, do's and dont's?thank you
Of course they're three dimensional characters, otherwise they'd be cartoons!!
@@Lucas_Tulic Watch most dramatic television episodes currently available and you'll see more cartoons than you ever expected! Most episodes seem written to attract advertisers and sell tie-in products to middle schoolers instead of telling a story.

I swear, is there one of these kind of movies that isn't 50% walking around in a pristine environment? In this movie there was Zero evidence of the end of the world.

Shaun Gould 1. There are a few dead bodies scattered throughout, 2. They’re not in cities or anything, they’re on top of mountains trying to find the water source basically. 3. It was a student film lol
I was referring to the jondra in general not all those apply to this particular one.
Regardless none of those are particularly good reasons either.
At least this one had a story if not a particularly coherent one.
There's no reason to believe he was looking for freshwater, they were already drinking it straight out of the Stream and it's unlikely any test would have been uncertain if it was clean or not.
If it showed anything at all it's not clean.
Student film may excuse a lot but not a bad story.
But honestly this was better than most, you just didn't have any kind of real apocalyptic feel to it.

shorts I see, the clothes, the packs, the tents and tarps look brand new. The people in these movies are on foot for a year or more,after 2 weeks camping my stuff looks 5 years old,very unrealistic

Are you serious? Watch it again, because it's very obvious. Dad is the scientist who caused it all and he's taking his daughter away, always testing the water in hopes of finding a clean water, but he's caught up by someone who knows what he did and wants him to pay. And at the end, it's a chance for his daughter to finally understand.

Intense.
Pretty scenery. Unoriginal and slow story. How many scientist with good intentions makes mistake and shockingly destroys almost all human life stories do we need? And if such a thing were actually possible someone would have done it by now. If there was a way to destroy human life that well via a disease, I guarantee it would have already been found and released.
All well done, except I don't get the ending
I found this poorly done, only the backdrop of the Scottish highlands made it even watchable, the script was garbage from the get go with the victim dialog dialog, it's post apocalyptic where everyone is already a victim. The antihero was almost incomprehensible in understanding what he was saying, I could go on but there are already tons of victims liking this
and what happen next you not finished the story, you have a begin and a middle but no end? not at all thinking on all four a.
I'm tired of post apocalyptic films.

everything was good. acting, cinematography, music, location, and plot, but the ending was unfortunately lame.
And good haircuts , waxed eyebrows , jackets in perfect condition , white shirts , new tent ... new hiking boots .... jeez guys .

Well put together but boring and out of place. She seemed like a bright girl who maybe could have adapted. considering her scientist father. Congratulations. I'm sure you won, not based on story but quality. I'm waiting for the PA film that is 'stars' doomsday preppers... or nature hunters who would thrive in this situation. I waiting for the person who thinks it's great to be in a post apocalyptic environment, because they do exist, today! I'm waiting for the PA film that's more realistic.
Stop with the ultra hi pitched audio squeal. It makes most turn away from your video. I wanted to watch this vid, but could not because of that!!!
Beautifully filmed but four writers? I found it quite slow with no surprises. The girl came across as a typical whining MEllenial, and would they really be running around in carefully ripped designer jeans? The other thing is that if the pursuer was going to shoot, why did he talk instead?
Nicely acted. I love the story. But like so many short films it shoots itself in the foot with that lousy ending.
Got boring real fast and couldn't even finish the video. Characters scavenging for food/supplies and fighting one another to survive is what I'm looking for.

James J. Spooner no you need to re-read again. 1st part is that I said the video is boring. And the 2nd part is I only look for apocalypse videos that shows characters do what they suppose to do in a apocalyptic world like scavenging, fighting one another to survive etc...

I never care about reading the description to see what's about. when your making a apocalypse video, you need blood, guts, and guns action pack so that the audience will be like wow! you don't want to bored your audience with characters walking around all day doing nothing.
