Very good. Very realistic plot and presented with realistic costumes and survival techniques for the basis of the concepts. Even the advanced weapon she used was a nice touch and the use of the common revolver by the assailant indicates this isnt that far in the future. Excellant attention to detail. Very impressive.
Absolutely fabulous movie with so much happening! Layers of the story expressed with what I think is phenomenal acting, with great chemistry between the two main actors. This is one of the very few short films that I can see becoming a full length picture. Much appreciation for you all too produce this film for us. It really is one of the better things I've seen.
This is a hidden gem, definitely deserves more views. the main reason I love these ultra low budget shorts is that they stand or fall entirely on the telling of a story, without the distraction of flash camera work and special effects. They rely entirely on the human element and this one really delivered. an engaging story, well written and beautifully acted. More please.
Well, this was beautifully shot, well acted, and way above my expectations. This could and should be a big screen, big budget movie, same actors and story line.
This mini flick of a sci-fi movie deserves so much more than just recognition. It is severely underrated. And short movies like that are very difficult to find, because of so many reasons. There's nothing better than having a suitable budget,a well-thought out plan,no need for special effects,no explosions, and no melodrama. Dystopian sci-fi mini flicks like that are a rare gem. And it won't be long before geo-politics starts to change, evolve, and alter by compromising our civil and constitutional rights. There's nowhere in our Constitution that our country goes on forever. The things that we take for granted,is because of the choices we make. Either we exercise our constitutional rights or LOSE them. Or have them taken away from you. Eventually,we will no longer have a nation that was there for us. It'll be taken over by an unknown entity. And what's more, this new movie coming up on March Twelfth, called "Civil War" in IMAX theaters, will be the testament of what our near future of America will be.
This mini movie of a sci-fi film had been severely underrated. It deserves so much more than just a sequel. A continuing series of what happens after she does into the City. What will she,a survivor of survivor's guilt,do when she. *does* meet the late Adam deceased father of his daughter? Who's a redhead. Redheads are rare specie's of humanity, apparently.
This is really superb film, a great storyline. Everything from the beautiful location and surroundings to the outstanding way the actors portrayed their characters kept my attention from beginning to end. Sarah is a beautiful woman, natural and talented, a pleasure to watch. Schoen portrayed his role so well that I felt like I knew him by the end of the film, he was funny with a kind of vulnerable innocence. Call you tell how much I liked and enjoyed the experience?
Such a roller coaster of emotion and a thought provoking experience in under 30 minutes. Bravo both. Plaudits aside , its not dissimilar to the trip to the local supermarket in these strange times.
Damn can you guys make a part 2 to this? this the kind of content I love to watch, I know its been 2 years since you guys made the film so ya prolly not thinking about a part 2 but please consider it, we all ENJOYED it :)
Awesome!! I read about this in our local paper. We are both from the same small town and graduated from the same High School, just 7 years apart. Great job and waiting for more to come!
Hallelujah ! Thank you for a video that addresses the existential dilemma of meaning. It's tragic and at the same time liberating to think that whatever meaning I give to the brief moments given to me are mine and mine alone. Could it really be any different? Sartre would love this video. May all beings be happy!
This was great. A Range of emotions felt. First laugh point: " I was beginning to think you were a victim of some sort of Facial Paralysis." 😉😉Lol. Beautiful scenic nature.🌲🌲🌲🌳🌵🌵🌺 Film made the no-touch caution very realistic at the end.
Oh i want to know everything, what's the dystopian city like, are the volunteers like the handmaidens tale? How did she escape...and will she save the sister... Then what? Will they find sanctuary for humanity!! Full length 2 hour feature! We want it!
I think I just fell in love with Sarah Haworth & Keely Leonard because the writing of this was absolutely superb. The foreshadowing when she refers to him as dead weight. The contrast between the system "asking" her to volunteer to be a mom (something she admittedly wanted to be - but now won't) and Adam -not asking- her to volunteer to rescue his sister, (something she clearly said she wasn't going to do - but now will). The parallel between her fleeing the city because, among other things, "volunteering" is a death sentence, even though that's whats literally keeping all humanity alive and her going back to the city voluntarily even though that is likely also a death sentence and would only keep one person alive (but perhaps that's what keeping our humanity alive means). He kept his promise i.e in 5 days he would be out of her life forever. The canteen scene is awesome : He doesn't know his canteen has a hole in it which means it will always be half empty, symbolically she has a hole which she doesn't know about which means she will always be half empty. She remarks that the "sap from the tree can help mend the hole if it isn't too big", when she(and thus we) first meet Adam he's coming out from behind a tree i.e he's the sap(fool) from the tree that can help mend the hole she has(if it isn't too big). Adam makes the remark "that's one sticky tree" and then proceeds to follow her and ask to make a deal for them to "stick" together. This short is just so well thought out. I loved it.
Great story. Characters were perfect, the bond that grew between them was hopeful for humanity to remain human. Shorts are better than Hollywood BS scripts.
WHOA WHAO WHOA! THE PLOT TWIST IS EPIC! I never expect it. And the ending is CHILLING! You need to develop it as a feature film! Ps. It is so lit that the main actors in this film are its eriter and producer!!! 😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏
Jerusalem 🇮🇱 is the city 🏙️. ❤❤❤ I love this and you. This makes a great place to construct your new 🆕 future seeing this warning of a very serious concern with the to manifest. Nia is the time to act. ❤ I’m an actress not a 📺 singer 🧑🎤 👨🎤 🧑🎤 Jesus ❤loves you and so do I. Great work. Stay in your bliss while you work. 💘
Hey you guys, if by chance you ever read these comments, this was one heck of a good video. I mean, really cool. Would be nice to see another. I know, 6 years, right? Well, thank you for making this. Think it will probably be a long time before I forget it.
Grace...What a great hero. Really loved the character. Solid writing and acting. I appreciated Adam's character too, but as a guy all I could think was "Please don't let me turn out to be that inept at survival!"
What a fine film this is...our current situation chips away at the Sci-fi though, bringing this closer to our hearts and minds in that most special dystopian way, unfortunately. If you ask me, even if you take away COVID 19, it only looks good in the ignorant eye, wars going on for years in many countries, civil wars and mass killings triggered by tribal or religious allegiances, inequalities and discrimination in all shapes and forms, open or hidden slavery and human trafficking, organ harvesting and political assassinations, corrupt press and world organizations, many countries controlled economically towards obviously negative effects, detrimental social engineering, lack of transparency and censorship all over all the time, it's just that we can now see it clearly. I totally feel like we are living the illusion when in fact the dystopia has set in long ago. It scares the shit out of me.
Wow after over one hundred future dystopian shorts this one stands above all the rest thus far. Super great job. Got most all of it real good. I think the guy could have been a bit more on the struggle and dirty side but beyond the dialogue scenes and survival aspect was just perfect. Please, I hope this team make many more flicks like this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I hope you guys haven't stopped producing videos. I know TH-cam can be challenging and frustrating. If you don't quit, I'll be a frequent flyer on this channel.
Very well done! Adam's lack of bushcraft was conveyed adequately, but his general incompetence was a little over played. A lot of city boys don’t know how to trap an animal or make a fire, but you didn’t need to completely neuter him to make the point. Of course, his actions at the end did redeem his manhood for the most part. Sorry to focus on a negative! I enjoyed the video and would like to see a full movie made out of this. Thanks!
Yeah i thought the girl didnt know that much either. She threw away a flashlight, batteries, casing... spring, all could be used, if you know how. Im not even as good as some others. I am a noob and still would have used it in various ways, even if i didnt take it... i would use it that would benifit me in the future, if i did pass by again. Details... Im sure you probable know more than me, lol.
I like she's massively overweight after living in the woods for a long time, that really makes sense. And the hole in the canteen?? Who writes this crap.
pretty good job for a low budget, no-special-effects effort. Well acted. The problem is the "touch somebody and you both die" aspect. Any good sci-fi fan wants to know how that dynamic works. I'm a biologist, and no obvious mechanism occurs to me. Still, if I can suspend disbelief on that point, the whole flick comes together pretty well.
Well written, well acted, well directed and well edited. You really cared about the characters, good story and ending. There should be a squeal to this one, the best short I've come across in quite awhile. Excellent.
This was enjoyable.. Kindofa postpoc chick-flick. But w/o the usual blatant bushcraft blunders and gas masks. Simple, believable story line. Good camera work. What's not ta like? Thanks much for your efforts in making it available.. d:^)
Chemistry between the actors is brilliant. I loved a lot of things about this film. Two things, and they could just be me... Not sure what kind of a disease stops you even touching people's coats while they're alive (on pain of death; he obviously died), and yet allows you to safely place flowers on them when they're ten minutes dead. Also, they'd be at risk every time they used each other's things - like jumpers - or if they ate from the same fish. And I may have missed something, but did that photo of the guy's sister have her address on the back? I'd wander around that city until I was caught before I found the right house.
I loved this....but, I also was in cringe mode the entire time because common virology/contagion knowledge was presented as irrelevant WITHOUT cause. This was sooooo good. Well that was a bit depressing. The least contact of another physically results in sudden death. Uplifting that self sacrifice might still be a thing in humanity in a world lost. Great video, thank you for sharing.
5 thumbs up........
Very good. Very realistic plot and presented with realistic costumes and survival techniques for the basis of the concepts. Even the advanced weapon she used was a nice touch and the use of the common revolver by the assailant indicates this isnt that far in the future. Excellant attention to detail. Very impressive.
It has the perfect amount of humor to keep it from being completely dystopian. I really loved the characters and their time together.
Very good production. Enjoyable!

Now that is a complete story. Well written, acted, and filmed. Bravo
Absolutely needs to continue

Well, this was beautifully shot, well acted, and way above my expectations.

Great job. Interesting story line, good acting and beautifully shot. DUST might give this more exposure, certainly worth it.
Beautiful but sad. Loved the plot. Wonderful insight into character, loneliness, love, and dealing with loss. Well done.
Absolutely amazing!!! Love the characters. Well done!
I have been watching a lot of these shorts lately and have to say this is the best I have seen.
This is one of those shorts that i didn't want to end so fast.. Love the story line, hope you do a sequel..
One of the better shorts on the topic! Drives home the significance of the 'little things' that are so important in the human experience. Well Done.

GREAT STORY!! I really enjoyed this! Felt compelled to watch the entire movie. Thank you for this gem!
Great short film, it would definitely make a great movie
Great story.
Deserves both a prequel and a sequel.
Looking forward to more.
Very good film l liked it well done
amazing. extremely well done.
I want to see more!
this could easily be a series. would love to see that.
Better than I expected. A lot of story packed into a few minutes.
This was super, really enjoyed it, even the ending, we know she is going to find his sister, and then find the others... cool
Very impressive work, loved the pacing and tone. Was quite emotional and powerful in places.
Excellent film, great character creation! More please!
Such a roller coaster of emotion and a thought provoking experience in under 30 minutes. Bravo both.

Good storyline and great acting. I wish it were longer and with a part two.
Wow. Awesome job. The human interaction story at the center of this is done really well. Great job on this.
Lovely storytelling and character development - immersive and beautifully shot - totally enjoyed this - definitely worth a sequel - thanks

Quality film!
Wow, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this film. Please, please do a follow up!
Amazing work
You guys should have won an award for this
You say more in thirty minutes than most movies say in two hours
It's 2024 and you guys did a amazing job great acting...Peace
Wow!!!! This one truly mirrors real life now.
Really great
Fantasy acting
And a scenario that's not too far from reality
Brilliant. Beautiful. Loved it.
Great story! Getting serious Heavy Metal Ta'arna vibes from Grace. Love it!!
This was really really awesome enjoyed Every min ., hope there’s a part two
celeste pater: was it, really really?
Only thing bad about this was it left me wanting for more. Great story telling and visuals.
"The Volunteer" requires a sequel. Hurry Up!
I'm working on a project involving strictly conger eel
You are OH SO CORRECT!!
CountBeetle tasty 😋
you should lay off the crack.

@@Katie-pq7lc plot twist is that this is a shit movie, you're talking to a bot, and all critical comments are censored
This was fantastic! Great characters, excellent plot. If this were a book or a full feature length film, I would be most interested. Well done.
Real cool Film ✌☻☮
That was nice little lacy shawl Adam was wearing........:)
This would make a fine 3-5 season (or more) series just in the backstory and development of what ails them (us). Here's hoping. Break a leg!!
I agree! This would definitely be a regular watch for me. A very good story!
Interesting little movie. Good Actors, Good Direction & Script
Welcome to "The New Normal," Social Distancing gone AWRY!
Great Short, kept me engaged all the way to 27:24
Damn well acted and a brilliant character study. I loved it!!!
So good! Can’t wait to see what else you cook up!
Story ended too soon. Wish that a sequel would be made. Great actors.
