Just found your channel friend, excellent content. Most of my instruments are analog and my signal path is too in my studio but I don't have any analog processing gear atm. This sounds so good. Are there any more advantages to the other version of the IMC besides the portability aspect of it? Function wise? Thanks
Hi, Phable! I have a Neve R6 with 2x Neve 542, TK audio stereo Bus Comp and planned to buy next week Zähl EQ-1 to use it as a complete bus / mastering chain. So I would have a parametric EQ, Bus comp and Drive, which is also a part of my existing chain. If you were me, would you still get IMC 500 instead of Zähl EQ-1, while keeping the modules I already have? I am looking for a portable solution to work on contemporary, classical, electronic and jazz music. So flexibility is key. Also, I am planning on getting Zähl, as your videos convinced me how good it is. 🤠 Thanks for your work!
Hmm.. I'm not a fan of the compressor. That 'pop!' you like is exactly what I dislike about it. That kind of pop is quite possible to achieve with almost anything else. What I would have liked to see was how it works with the fastest attack setting, if it is fast enough to do the opposite and shave off some transients. Also would have liked to hear the saturation at hotter levels. But yeah, maybe you use it differently than I would. I guess the transformer would be able to remove those pops and make things more smooth but you can already hear in the last example how it gets quite "smeary" (the downside of driving transformers hard).
15:23 You should replace the Neve lunchbox with cranborne, and then you can insert any hardware in M/S, Parralel, LR or whatever crazy at any stage of the master/bus/tracks and even sidechain it and all that without any cable/patchbay/hardware routing controller (If your on Ableton at least but I guess thats what you use as a German House mixing engineer right ?)
@@phable I love SPL, they have the color and process style I prefer, Hermes is one of the best routing controller in the game if* not the best. Though if I start hardware I will 100% go with Cranborne Mastering Grade Lunchbox/ Routing 32/30 io audio Interface with the 150$ passive XLR Prism soft clipper limiter barrels at the end of the cables after SPL transient unit and before conversion hahaha what a cheatcode.
VCA Compressor ? You got to show us the slowest attack faster release :0 To my ears : API but more precise style compressor, Elysia style EQ similar to Dangerous maybe, Drive also is soft like Elysia and bettermaker saturation, not the color I like but extremely good for the purpose.
It’s not for everyone, which is a good thing. Martin predominantly had electronic music in mind and you can clearly hear this. However, this module worked on much more stuff than I expected.

Short answer: Yes! The EQ1 and IMC 500 complement each other very nicely. Match made in heaven :)
Price? I remember original imc was too expensive.. close to $3000. Anyway the module is really good, but is it priced good for this time)

Okay, once I have the standalone version, I’ll do the very short attack setting as well. :)

Yes, there is room for improvement. But because I have the SPL Hermes, I can do all of my parallel processing right there.
