dude Cubase is absolutely cooking with this update! We've needed a simple volume plugin FOR SO LONG. Honestly, I have less and less of a reason to ever use Ableton again. THANK YOU STEINBERG

I just found your channel Chris, and glad I did. This is an excellent comprehensive explanation of the new features. I say that because you managed to explain things clearly, making it easy to absorb, but quickly too and covering the big array of new things. Just upgraded to 14 Elements due to the cheap price, and you have enticed me to try using Cubase again after years of swearing by and loving Reason, which I have up to 13 now. Great job and thanks.

The range tools and the editing of audio events - That's the last of my Pro Tools envy gone. I've always had Cubase (since Atari ST days) but it took a back seat for years as my work used Pro Tools. What I loved about Pro Tools was the editing of audio on the timeline, the shortcuts and the ease with adjusting ranges and individual clips. When I moved away from working for others, I used Pro Tools for a while but their subscription model did it for me, I really hate subscription models. So I updated Cubase (which I hadn't done for a few releases) and reacquainted myself with it.
Mostly I was pleasantly surprised but the range features were clunky and when I used my Pro Tools paradigm of working mostly with audio - even if from a VI - Cubase didn't feel as fast and clean as Pro Tools. But these changes do it for me! I'm gonna see if it makes sense to change around a few key commands to match my Pro Tools muscle memory on selecting etc ranges.

From the bottom of my heart: thanks for mentioning the part about hardware inputs not being exclusive to certain routing any more, I didn't see that anywhere else. This alone is like, finally! This freely routable audio now probably means that any audio track now can be sent to inputs of any other. But they'll probably save that for another update :)

My personal favorite are the Ableton and bitwig esque features and workflow improvements that actually make Cubase fun again for production and not just technical like protools. Might have to get a bigger monitor though like an ultra wide cause it's getting cluster phobic but nice work steinberg.

    • @LuLeBe
      @LuLeBe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I wouldn’t get an ultra wide. Personally I need space top to bottom to see all my channels and also the bottom panel. I don’t need to see half an hour of my timeline at once though, so more space left to right isn’t that useful (at least to me). Maybe if you detach the mixer and put it in a separate window off to the side it could be helpful.

I work on 3 4k monitors .. the centre one has my main project window, the left monitor my main mixer window and the right hand monitor gives me plenty of space for opening up plugins etc. I hardly ever use the bottom panel, any extensions or editors that open up there i pop out to a different monitor

Really nice overview!!! I have Nuendo, so will have to wait a bit, but I'm excited about this upgrade.
Re music notation -- Cubase was already one of the few DAWs that had notation integrated into it. But I never found it terribly useful because it was pretty clunky compared to actual notation software, so typically when I used notated elements in my projects I just created the MIDI or audio in Dorico and imported it into Nuendo. But having Dorico's notation engine within Cubase and Nuendo will be a really significant improvement.

Hello, I have a question for you , I would love to move to Cubase I have already the version 14 bought it but, when I work in a project that I need to speed up the tempo a little like from 120 to 125 I start to here is the beginning of the kick is cut or jot sound like the the 2nd & 3rd Kick in the Stems that I bought understand me so I tried all the Time stretch algorithm of Cubase even with the Melodyne mode but all of them don’t sound like Ableton time stretching & I can’t work like this for my customers, it’s sound not good so is there any hidden feature to do this or this the maximum of Cubase 14 for time stretching ? Please if you can gel in this matter that would be appreciated & thank you so much , your channel is always amazing & I know that your opinion is always honest, Best Regards, Amr

My review or the review... LOL I'm a cubase 13 pro user... Started with it back when SONAR was discontinued by Gibson. So... Track movement... about time! Cakewalk sonar had channel movement for 10 yrs.. Modulator... Pretty cool but how often will you use it? I do mostly music performed by actual musicians or at least real time playing so not sure how much this is needed for me. Sounds like mote ways to take computerized stuff sound more computerized... Drumtrack.. I guess its a quicky way to get a drum track to play to but so a a million other drum plugins. Clip gain... again sonar had full clip gain automation for decade... so again.. about time. Very useful and the first feature so far I would CONSIDER paying for. Range selection. Useful but limited use. Delay Shimmer - nice but already have valhalla Volume - I just use SONALKIS FREEG so don't need it. Media bay - Nice convenience improvements and other cosmetic stuff. Its nice but not really going to help me much... SO OVERALL I WOULD SAY CUBASE GETTING DESPARATE FOR NEW FEATURED SO PEOPLE KEEP SPENDING BUT I SEE NO REAL NEEDS HERE FOR ME. I"LL PASS ON THIS ON UNTIL IT RUNS ITS COURSE AND GETS CHEAPER. PERFROMANCE ENHANCEMENTS IS WHERE IM MUCH MORE INTERESTED IN AND THERTE WERE NOT ANY MENTIONED DAWPROJECT sounds great on paper but will it really work with more complex projects?

I really never never thought about leaving Ableton/bitwig or use cubase but when they add clip launcher the same way Studio One 7 added for idea creation (which I can’t leave without, and the reason ableton became my home) I’ll be leaving Ableton, I’ve been actually between going to Cubase ( because I loved the new drum rack, and Studio one 7 because the clip launcher) but If cubase add clip launcher similar to Ableton or Bitwig (vertical and horizontal clip launcher I can leave bitwig too) will be the most powerfull daw on the market.
The word cubase was something really far for me but it’s probably my future main DAW👏🙌🙏

The reordering of mix channels is a NEW thing in Cubase? Goodness! Reaper's had it for like 20 years.

And now it's in Cubase, so we CUBASE users are happy about this feature that is now also in CUBASE.

Cubase could always reorder mix channels but previously we had to do it on the project view - the new thing is just being able to do it in the mix window. Still a long-overdue feature.

Hello everyone! I have a question. If I upgrade from Cubase 13 to 14, will my preferences, shortcuts, and other settings that I painstakingly configured in Cubase 13 Pro be preserved? Or will I have to set everything up again from scratch?
I’m concerned about this because setting up Cubase from scratch is quite tedious for me.

I think, in some ways, that cubase is tending to look like Ableton with all these modulators and drum pad functions, and that’s a good thing ! I started with Ableton, then I switched to Cubase 12, and it took time for composing and producing well again, without things that Ableton already had. This version seems to fill some things, I could love Cubase even more

Hi, thanks for the video - do you know if they improved the wave alignment? Such as vocAlign? Because Cubase has never been as efficient as vocAlign on this front. Thanks

modulators addition is incredible -- been wanting that for years! can you add multiple samples per pad in the Drum Track and have them play "round robbin" or "random exclusive" like in groove agent?

Haven't seen Cubase for more than 15 years, but just the start: "changing the channel in any order I want" makes me wonder what other "amazing" features Cubase 14 will have :D.

Agreed. Not sure what's going on at Steinberg, but I just keep wondering how come are these tiny but obvious QoL updates so few and far between? There's lots of small oddities like this. I just can't go back to Cubase, for me it's too limited and strict in how it "must be used". I love Cubase's Padshop and the creativity tools, but that's it.

The first version of Cubase came out in 1989, some things obviously aren't that easy to just rewrite. I think it's pretty astounding that Steinberg still come up with features that are groundbreaking, look at something like Sibelius (also old framework), completely stuck in time.

A good shift for people who use samples.
For me, it's about time they have improved the score editor. That's the reason why I've bough dorico lately it was 70% off...
I like the modulator trigging any plugin parameter, the new way of editing the waveform, and the performance diagnosis.
As I already have Dorico, I'll probably wait.

switching channels from mix window should've been added a long time ago. Paying $100 upgrade just for that seems ridiculous to me. Don't get me wrong, I like cubase, currently on 13. I just feel these upgrades are long over due.

Not sure if you know this but there are a lot more colours available than default.. You just need to go change the project colour setup, I admit I could use a different system but just in case you're still on the default 16 or whatever it is
