    So, I've been making many more Patches for the Behringer DeepMind 12 and while I did a fair few Pads in my previous video, this time I have Leads, Bass, Arps, Strings...and of course...more Pads (Can't help it). Am really having a blast with this Synth and digging deeper into its capabilities.
    It's about 40 Minutes long, but it's not stop Patches (about 50 of them) without talking. Let me know what you think...or any requests.

    I’m reading some of the comments.It blows my mind how closed minded and lack of knowledge most so called synth artists can be. You’re patches and videos really show how wonderful this analog synth is.
    If the so called synth artist want out of the box presets then they should not even look at this type of synth.Presets are great ! Sometimes I use them myself. But when I build a patch from scratch it is very rewarding! It’s work to create a really good patch on any synth.Digital or analog. Everybody has an opinion and that’s fine. I bet if this synth had a different name on it other than Behringer they would be drooling 🤤

      Isn't that the whole idea of getting a synth vs. a keyboard? Having fun creating your own sound, or trying to recreate someone else's?

      I can buy any synth I want. I've got a DSI, a Kronos, and a very nice modular, etc. Guess what I just bought? Yep - a Deepmind. It's pretty cool and Behringer has come a very long way in fixing the quality problems they had years ago.

      Not had a problem myself. there's been some people who have had the ribbon cable not connected properly inside, but pushing it back in solves it. Clacky keys is just that the keyed is slightly too forward...they're just teething issues for some, expect its been sorted out by now, but as I said, no problem for me.

    • @jhdrummer4815
      @jhdrummer4815 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In your opinion 6 voices are just good enough for most sounds on the Deepmind? Considering that I'm not going to play some crazy chords with both hands ;-). And mostly I'm doing studio work instead of live playing.

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, for leads, bass etc, then no problem. I did stack 2 voices for some pads, so this would only give you 3 notes for chords, but many are single voice...and there's 256 to choose from!

    @foggydrifty 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wicked sounds man, I think some of these patches will cure my CS-80 desires. Beautiful stuff! This is the video that has sold me on the DM12. Would love to hear more synthetic bell like, clamorous tones, ring mod types of sounds. Some of the medieval instrument sounds you've created are just magnificent, reminds me of Vangelis and and stuff off of Tangerine Dreams's Logos album.

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have done some Bell like tones/patches and recorded the rest of the patches, but didn't realise the batteries ran outt in both my Cameras, so have got to do it again...Doh! if they decided to add a Ring Mod in the FX, then that would open up a lot of possibilities, not just bell/metallic sounds, but vocal like tones. I have decided though, that with this and the OB6, I'm not buying vintage gear anymore.

    • @foggydrifty
      @foggydrifty 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      GEOSynths that's some practical thinking. The OB6 is at the moment my dream synth, but the DM12 is within financial range. I've got a OBXA that I purchased years ago that's never been repaired, it passes sound, but it's not really functioning. Old stuff just breaks. But yea, this is the best sounding demo I've heard of this machine. Once I get one, I'll look around for more of your future sound sets, definately will purchase this one.

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's a pain in the ass getting old gear fixed, spent loads on it over the years, not doing it anymore. Thanks for the compliment on the patches, I spent many hours on them and all created from initialised patch.

      Dudley Baker you guys are the only ones I’ve even seen talk about this. I’ve been trying to get the pothead pixies out of my deepmind12 since I bought it.. I mostly try to make patches covering Steve Hillage bits by ear with it and my Model D. I know Ed uses a novation poly that is similar in architecture to the dm, and I see him walk over and hit one key and it spirals into those insane bubbly vortexs. Most of my patches I make are in attempt to copy Tim Blake or Steve Hillage until I can understand why they do what they do the way they do.

    I think this baby sounds great. It does sound a little different than the Moogs, but that is a good thing to me. I prefer the midrangey sounds. The Moog is great for Basses, but lacking in other area, in my mere opinion. The DSI OB6 is sweet, but out of my price range. This has some nice character of its own. It was a brilliant move for Behringer to buy T.C. Electronics, the FX sound great, especially the reverbs. I believe this synth will find its way on many recordings, especially soundtracks, I can't wait to buy one! I think this is way more than a copycat synth, but will be a classic in its own right, I am looking forward to the Deepmind OB when it comes out. Perhaps they will even do a take on the CS80.

    I just wish this thing did splits. If I could do two patches on it, I would have zero hesitation. But I try to be efficient with my synths for live performances. Each one should take up space in relationship to how much functionality it has in my setup, so a huge keyboard like this that I can only do one patch with at a time feels excessive. Maybe I will wait for the desktop version.

    I thought it would repleace the patch by sending but looks like it's not even in any bank... It's kind a strange problem. I sent the patch form the DM12 to my computer and repleaced the whole Bank by one of yours. Now I like to add my own single patch from my computer back to the DM12, but it feels like the DM12 only take whole Banks. Can you held me? What do i miss?

      Hi, it’s just me that makes the Patches. I make a Bank with a variety of sounds as some love Pads, others love Arps. I have no way of organising and selling individuals sounds and it just wouldn’t be financially worthwhile for me to do as I do this for a living, pay taxes etc. It generally takes me a month to make a Bank and I only charge $29 for them, that’s not a lot I don’t think for the time and effort. Thanks, you will find in the bundle 640 patches, as there’s 2 bonus Banks with lots of Pads.

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, yes, I've programmed pretty much each Patch to be changed by using the Mod Wheel and Aftertouch (press harder on the keys) this way you can get sound variations with expression, but never losing the main sound...I always programme this way.

    • @tannerlester

      Oh yeah, you can assign loads of things to the Mod wheel and multiple things at the same time, so you may have the cut off of the Filter reduced when moving the Mod Wheel forward, while it also increases the depth of the Reverb for example...it's very well thought out.

      Software can certainly sound good, but can be a tedious experience with using the Mouse, dealing with cpu issues, latency etc. The DeepMind 12 is at such a good price these days, it's hard not to recommend it. Personally though, I much prefer hardware, I grew up with it, so I'm obviously biased, but in all honesty, it's a much more enjoyable experience with just the instrument, headphones and no distractions.

      They're both fine Synths to be honest, more going on in the Oscillator section for the PEAK, the FX sounds great, but there's a lot more FX on the DM12, plus it has 4 extra voices. They're both great machines for making patches on, but like you say, there's an Editor for the DM12 which I used for arranging Patches and for the Control Sequencer, but the Synth is easy to use and Muscle memory sets in pretty quick ans the relveant menu parameters have their own sections. Try them out if you can, sound is a personal taste really...

      You can play it through your amp (probably roll off the bass some to be safe) to hear it mono. Or play through some monitors to hear it stereo. It has stereo outputs and a 1/4" headphone jack in the back, so you can also just jam out with some headphones on. It's incredibly fun to play mono through an amp... or run it through some of your guitar pedals and see what it does.

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a Tetra, well 2 of them actually, before I got a Prophet 08, so can talk about the sound. it's very flexible in terms of modulation, you can create all manner of sounds, but for me the overall sound wasn't that pleasing. the filter that was used in those is quite weak and a bit sterile, but that's just my own opinion. I sold the Prophet 08 as I wasn't using it, but for me the DM12 is one of the best Synths to come out for ages, so if it was a choice...I'd get the DM12...Just sounds better, very flexible and of course, it has 12 voices compared to 4.

    • @michaeldanny8393
      @michaeldanny8393 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      :D hey thanks! Understood that for a pro like you, dm12 is better than Mopho x4. However, do you think it's still better for a first synth? I'm not experienced with analog. So accessible/better user interface is also a consideration

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was one of the first to get a DM12, so I decided to put them in to Bank G as it was the furthest away, it was only later I found out that patches were duplicated in Bank A. Originally, the Deeper Vol 1 was just 128 Patches, but I'd made many others, plus variants and was going to keep them for Vol 2...then I decided to give them away free with the main Bank about a month or so later. Drag and Drop works with the main bank, but not the Bonus as Behringer changed the SYSEX values.
