the woofer enclosure and how it installs was amazing. it's flush and a purrfect fit. I figured the tiny magnet was made of a more advanced material this more powerful and efficient than the older larger magnet. awesome install brotha, well done!👍🏻👍🏻

I have a 19 Trd off road with the JBL audio and sub behind the back passenger seat. I love the sound. It's perfect on any music and never distorts on any volume.
I was wondering about the size of the front 6x9 magnet too. In the OEM Audio Plus 2016 install video for Access Cab Tacomas, the front 6x9 has a large magnet. But in your install video, it's got a smaller magnet. I thought that OEM audio plus might be using a cheaper alternative to save in production costs. After reading up on neodymium magnet audio applications and looking at what the other higher-end brands, i.e. Focal, are offering, OEM Audio actually elevated their product! Way cool for a smaller company like this to build continually improve their product line!! I am waiting for delivery of my 2022 Tacoma and just ordered the OEM Audio 500Q. Looking forward to it! Thanks for the video Jesse. Keep making them!

Jesse, I get that it’s easier install than the Kicker route and a cleaner sound. However, considering the huge price difference (OEM is +$1600) is the OEM really worth an extra $1000? Most Tacoma owners have tons of plans for their trucks. OEM is a good product no doubt, but is it a good value? Thanks, love the channel.
I am going the aftermarket rout, going with Morel speakers, a Fox box with two 10” Kicker Comp RT’s, Alpine Halo9, and an Alpine PDX-V9 5 channel amp to power it all. Expensive but should do the trick.

I would like to see a cutaway skematic on that front 6x9. How big/small is the voice coil on it?
I was told by crutchfeild I can only use 2 ohm speakers with my stock jbl system. If i did use 4 ohm speakers i would loose 50% of the volume ...whats your thoughts ?

Is there a way to install an update or software to stop the stock head unit from turning the bass down as you turn up the volume? That is probably the worst part about the OEM system.

Lol I was as surprised as u I ended up calling the company up because low key I was upset about that lol but I gues for this specific application on the Tacoma’s they ended up useing neodymium in the magnet instead of ferrite
Just to make sure the magnet doesn’t hit or interfere with anything inside the front doors on the Tacoma’s unlike the rear speaker it has a prettt beefy magnet lol and like FRS 86 stayed yes for many other applications there big lol just happen to be for that front speaker on the Tacoma’s they made a different route

Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about installing the same system into my 4Runner. I really want to hear it myself before placing the order but can't find anyone locally. I'm just concerned that they use too much audio compression to make it sound better. It's not always a good thing.
One thing worth mentioning after watching your video:
It's very important to have a fuse installed on the positive power lead. The fuse must be installed as close to the battery post as possible, preferably within 3-4 inches from the post. This will protect the system as well as the entire wire if it gets shorted to the ground. The wire's insulation can get pinched or rubbed through (by vibration). A properly placed fuse will keep the wire from overheating and causing a vehicle fire.
Most vehicle fires are caused by improperly fused aftermarket electronics. I though it would be worth mentioning.
Are you local to the inland empire and yes this kit comes with the fuse 👍
I installed one of these in my 2015 (Gen-2) Tacoma. While I am very pleased with the result it was not nearly as Plug & Play as they advertised. I hope it went better for you.
Im so confused in feeding the cable from the battery and interface?
I've had my system for about 3 weeks now. It's an improvement but not worth the money in my opinion. You really have to crank it to get bass attack and that is with the bass turned up. A larger amp might help or a designated sub amp. Either way, nice and clean install...but just too much money. Also took over a month to get it but they took my money overnight....
Everyone has there Own opinion as for me I believe it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made the sound quality is just perfect yes there are more expensive ones out there but you just won’t get the clarity

Have heard that the factory speaker wiring needs to be upgraded to to take full advantage of the new power. What did you do to address this?

Question: with all the audio upgrades, why didn’t you upgrade the head unit? I’m in the midst of my upgrade and don’t know if I should change out the head unit
I like the factory head unit for what it comes with and I can use my steering wheel controls when you upgrade to aftermarket most the time you will be deleting that option

No you don’t u can leave them up and still get the same response 👍 the box is made to be enclosed in a small spot and if u have the means to buy the dual I would do it

I doubt that that sub woofer actually produces enough pump. Speaking with your hand in your heart, Jesse, is that subwoofer worth the money those guys charge?
It’s meant more to produce a clear sound with a clear bump if u want just straight bass this wouldn’t be for you but if you want to listen to clear louder music the way the artist intended with only the bass kicking in when it was suppose to when the song was recorded then the oem is for you
I’ve been wanting it also I’m looking for a clean bass sound just to myself not for everyone to hear but yeah also a little outside of my budget

You have the option of not getting the OEM speakers ... I believe the door/dash speaker package is $400. I supposed you could put another brand of speaker in and this system would still power them.

I found out the hard way that the 500Q is sub, amp, tweeters....does NOT come with door speakers. Ask me how I know...

I’m still waiting for my door speakers. Had to pay $300 more....for 4 speakers. Hope it’s worth the upgrade charge.
jbmusicman1 understood. Yea, back when they first launched the Toyota 86 System, it was just the Sub + Tweeters + Amp + their tune (which really is spot-on). It was amazing!! We had it for probably 2 years with just that setup and then they offered a front door speaker upgrade (Reference) Set for $300 that really transformed the sound even more and that was just one set (2 speakers). Shoot... you’re getting four speakers?! I guess it’s a different vehicle (86 vs Tacoma).
So basically it's garbage unless you want something oem, because it's crazy expensive and you can get a way better system for the money. Can't believe I even considered this. Thanks so much for this video!!! I have an access cab (OR) and it's awesome for sounds because you don't need to even worry about rear space because it's just storage. I went with two 8" subs in a ported box standing up in a corner and it barely takes up any space. But I'm having a really hard time finding a decent sound system for my double cab 😡😡😡

While everything is is out should hit the inside of the doors with some PB Balster wool wax and sound deadening material.

@@Noe-st2nl I went on eBay and bought my kicker speakers from there along with an 8'' Rockville subwoofer speaker. That's all you really need unless you want something super loud? It's a whole lot cheaper than OEM Audio system.

Did you have an Amp connected to the Kickers?
No I didn’t but with the kickers I would recommend adding an amp to power then to there full potentional if your going that route

OEM audio for 2015 and up isnt bad. 05-14 they're weak but not bad, I guess it all depends if you want to be bumping loud music.
Overall ever since I’ve heard it it’s been one of the best sound systems to me especially as far as clarity this thing doesn’t distort lol I love my oem audio system and wouldn’t go back to anything else tbh ,

I feel like it’s kind of a rip off if it doesn’t have good bass, clarity is nice but it’s best when you get bass with it because without bass it’s useless
We have had the OEM Audio + systems in all of our cars for the last 4-5 years. It’s hard to obtain this level of sound and clarity in such a turn-key package. Can't help but laugh at the people that are trying to compare pricing, I completely understand that this is not cheap, but saying that you could “do the same for less” is misinformed. It’s like saying that you can get a laptop for $300, yes you can, but it’s not a MacBook Pro.

If you would have just added an amp to your previous system you would have a far better system. My whole system is expensive and looks professionally done and didnt cost near 1600 the way it's set up right now
Can’t argue with you there are cheaper options, but not for the same results. I love the sound of my System. Will never go back.

The only downside of having a double cab tacoma in my opinion. Can't find a freaking way to install a decent sub anywhere.
Most likely why it didnt sound as good is because you didnt add an amplifier. New speakers without an amplifier is like tacos with no sauce. The amplifier is what brings out the life in the speakers and completes the overall system.

Amp is under the drivers seat it’s and amp and DSP digital sound processor. Cleans up the amplified signal.
