    you should apply sound deadening around the mounting hold for the speaker itself like folded over it will help a lot i think more so than the extra strips you put on last over the other holes

    Hey thanks for the video. It was very informative and I'm sure will help me a lot. I am actually about to take on this exact project as soon as my products come in and I can find the extra time. I ordered the "Kilmat". I did however go with different speakers for my 19' Taco. Thanks again.

    Should have put a gasket on the back of the mounting bracket. When screwing speakers to the bracket, use a finger to guard the speakers surround from any screw driver slips. For deadening on the outside door (behind the door panel) use a sound deadening matt to eliminate plastic rattling.

    If you look at the speaker brackets they have a cutout for the wire harness to come thru the adapter plate so you are not pinching the wires.

    Great video bro, I had to ask are the Tacoma beast headlights worth the money? I have after market diode dynamics sl1 LED on my 2021 TRD off road, but they are not bright at all..

    • @GearheadJT
      @GearheadJT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I'm not running the Tacoma beast headlights, I'm running the AlphaRex LUXX series, but Tacomabeast might be selling them and advertising them as Tacomabeast ones. If light output is the only factor you're looking at, the SLI1's with the oem housings are close to being hte brightest you will get. Especially with the oem light pattern. If you want to have the "cooler" look and the sequential turn signals and drls, then yes they are worth it. If you just want better light output and more visibility driving at night I would first upgrade the fog lights!

    • @jaya3597
      @jaya3597 ปีที่แล้ว

      U can… but the sound won’t be pure and beautiful as loudly as you want it. It’s worth getting an amp for the speakers… unless u already have an amp, but most of us Tacoma guys pull power from the radio.

    Love this video, have a suggestion though. I own a 13 Tacoma. Love those speakers, matter of fact is have ordered them for mine. My suggestion is to get a new head unit why I make the suggestion is your speakers can handle more power. That's why it isn't sounding right like you want. Or an amp would work too

  • @gcdeen8783
    @gcdeen8783 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I heard the jbl system has 2 ohm speakers which means when you put in aftermarket 4 ohm speakers like the ones you purchased it will give out less sound. At the end of your vid you said you couldn't tell if the sound was better. This is probably why. I think you have to replace the whole thing on the jbl including a new head unit and adding an amp. Good luck.

    • @Jaredius
      @Jaredius 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point, because I expected a very positive reaction to the sound out of those high sensitivity speakers. Hertz designed them specifically for base factory head unit power. The JBL is amped…and 2ohm like you said.

    Q: I did a similar speaker swap (different speaker brand) & it’s 3-way 6x9’s with 2 tweeters attached to them. But the problem is: no high frequencies seem to be coming out of the tweeters. Any tips on why???
    So I took out my new speakers & put back my old OEM speakers back & they had way more high frequencies that my new speakers. What gives? 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

      @EnriqueMartinez-iw9tk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same issue when I installed my kicker cs’..and the kicker Subaru tweeters. Furthermore, my calls sound all muffled!

    • @donholden880
      @donholden880 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would suggest going with components in the front with a crossover. The feed from the radio comes from the tweeter input. Crutchfield has a wiring kit that's included with components when you buy them. Attached the Crutchfield adapter from the tweeter input, which then becomes the input to the crossover. Then feed the tweeter and woofer from the crossover. Sounds much better IMO. Good luck.

    Have been told by Crutchfield that if I upgrade the speakers too much the wire to the door speakers needs to be upgraded to take advantage of the full capabilities of the speakers. Did you run into that?

    • @naturaljoe759
      @naturaljoe759 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Know it’s been awhile, but you only need to upgrade speaker wiring if you are adding an amp to go over like 60w RMS per speaker. I’ve heard of folks using factory wiring up 75w but ymmv.
