My name is Kaiya Pelletier and I am documenting my metal journey as I discover and listen to metal music for the first time ever. I'm in my mid 20's and I've been a singer songwriter and performer for over 10 years. Currently I live in Stillwater, Oklahoma and I am in the process of recording my 4th album. I have a Bloodhound named Spooner, I love Mexican food, collecting Stephen King novels, collecting CD's and cassettes and my favorite movies are tied between Jurassic Park and Alien.

"Agent Orange, a fire that doesn't burn!"
One of the most epic lines in metal history
Up there with "Bang your head against the stage and metal takes its price, bonded by blood!"
The effects of the use of Agent Orange by the US in Vietnam are still visible today. This American crime has never been brought to justice. That's what this song is about.
Someone once said extreme metal is music with a message delivered to most people in an indecipherable manner. Mike
Hippy.
There is a shitload of kickass german thrash for you to discover and enjoy.
Kreator, Destruction, Tankard, Darkness, Accuser, Deathrow, Minotaur, Living Death, Paradox, Violent Force, Assassin, Protector, Angel Dust, Exumer...just to name a few.
Also Necronomicon and the death/thrash band Poison (not to be confused with the US band of the same name).
@@DaveWolffaz Damn right my friend :)
Holy Moses FTW!!!
@@clarenceboddicker4408 YES!!!!!
Mekong Delta!
Persecution Mania
Hell yeah,I am 50plus yrs old, this is my shit forever!!!
Sodom's 80's material was a big influence on Black Metal, especially their work from before this album.
The sign of evil great ep 🤘🏻🔥
Death Metal too
Obsessed By Cruelty is definitely a big influence on modern black metal.
This was a really important album both for the metal world and for me personally. It, along with Extreme Aggression by Kreator, were the records that really got me into thrash, and this record even charted in Germany. I still have my cassette of the album I talked a guy at school who had the LP into making for me. The guitarist is the legendary Frank Blackfire, who also quit the band straight after recording and toured with Kreator on their Extreme Aggression tour (including the great Live in East Berlin video). Thanks for reacting to it and bringing back those memories!
Agent Orange and Sodom capture it all. This is the reason metal fans keep coming back for more. The layers of that song, and that simple riff that is so evil and so good, you can't forget it. Slayer caliber. Sodom is perfection.
In The Sign of Evil ep is considered by many 'old heads' to be death metal. Obsessed by Cruelty is amazing too. Very raw and fairly unique song compositions for extreme metal especially in the mid 80s. Cheers.
Black metal rather
nah, it's Blackened Thrash - not Death.
I'm an "old head" and Sodom can be considered 50% Thrash 25% Black and 25% Death LOL. I'd say Sodom and Possessed would be the two biggest influences to Death Metal.
@@dalegribble1560 + Hellhammer🤘
Early Teutonic thrash scene (German thrash metal) from 1983-late 80s had this more brutal, more speed oriented thrash metal using kinda proto-scream, proto-growl vocals which influenced the evolution of extreme metal the most (and some extreme punk stuff). Early stuff from Sodom, Destruction and Kreator (German "big three") had this proto-black metal sound. Some would argue this is early black metal already (first wave) - before Norwegians turned black metal in more theatrical and more dark, goth-y medieval-ish tremolo picking blast beat oriented stuff. Still, when talking about the history of thrash metal, German scene is less talked about but I would say it's EXTREMELY influential on US bands of later era (in 90s thrash was less vogue than developing death metal scene). More brutal thrash, death metal/black metal bordering bands certainly did get this sound by pulling from Sodom, Kreator and Destruction. When it comes to metal, and extreme metal especially, if we don't count Venom as a primary influence, these early bands from Germany did help to create a more extreme sound that isn't easily translated into specific genre. It's just that the influence they had is so taken for granted today, but without Sodom, Venom and Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, there wouldn't be a Bathory, a first true black metal band. Some death metal bands directly credit this early German stuff for sounding more evil, abrasive and fast. This Sodom's record is polished though when comparing to their earlier stuff which legit sounds like those dirty sounding basement black metal records from late 80s and early 90s.
one of the tastiest slabs of meat thrash metal has ever producted, such a complete experiece of a song.
AWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEEEAAAAAH!!!!!
For example: "Agent Orange" (Sodom), "Endless Pain" Kreator, "Hell Awaits" (Slayer), "Beneath the Remains" - The paving of extreme music playing.
Ah, yes, Sodom! the first band I ever heard that made me go "That's TOO heavy!" Though that was with one of their later albums in 94 called "Get What You Deserve". However considering when this came out (89 I believe) the heaviest and fastest band I had heard at that point was Anthrax I probably still would have had that opinion. It's funny now because I listen to way heavier bands, but back then stuff like this was a whole other level that was almost unthinkable until you heard it.
Sodom is always consistent and I love that about them!
For me,Agent Orange is their best song.
Need some Nuclear Winter!!!
💥 Even though the band has had a lot of line-up changes, they have damn tight records every decade, certainly one of the best quality bands ever. And Tom's voice is still in good shape. Perhaps the best of its kind!! Hail Sodom!! Check out the newer records as well. 💥 😎✌ German's knows how to thrash till death!!
true, "Decision Day" is their best album in my opinion and its from 2016. his voice is better than ever
@@FlagerMiszcz Decision Day is great, but their best album in my opinion is M-16 :D
No remorse +In my Darkest Hour+ Black Magic + Angel Of Death + Rainig Blood + Hit The Lights = Agent Orange!
Love this band. Saw loads of thrash bands but didn't discover Sodom till late. Thanks for the reaction x
Hail Sodom!
Highly skilled and criminally under-recognized except for those who REALLY invested their souls in metal. More Sodom please!!!!
When people say thrash isn’t as brutal as death metal
👉🏼Sodom
If war was made into music
That's because german thrash goes so much harder than american thrash. Sodom is like if Slayer really dug into the entrails of the topics they play about, both in terms of lyrics but also sonically and in terms of intensity.
@@RegularGillian demolition hammer and Morbid Saint are American, but yes
Sodom is a must to understand the bridge between Thrash AND Death metal (Teutonic thrash for that matter) If you listen to Kreator, go for a song from the album Pleasure to kill
And black metal as well
@@swaillidan5558 Sodom is like 50% Thrash, 25% Death, and 25% Black lol
Persecution Mania and Tapping thr Vein!
Was just listening to this today! Been my favourite for 20+ years!
As a new metal listener that you are, I'm so impressed you even heard of this to react to. This is one of the first bands I heard 30 years when my brother got me into metal. I absolutely love this song and the sound quality I believe was ahead of its time. Btw, I'd love to see you do more Dream Theater. So happy you joined the metal family...
These guy are OG's!!!!!
Yeah...back to my roots ... one of my first vinyls 🤘 Thanks so much 👏🤘Big 4 Germany🤘 Kreator Destruction Sodom Tankard = The Teutonic Big 4....Agent Orange is one of my favorite albums ever...but my number 1 forever is Destruction ❤ Album: Infernal Overkill (1985 Vinyl)...maybe someday here on your channel. Greets from Germany
This is the deepest I’ve seen anyone on listening to metal, deep cuts
Very Fitting song for whats going on in NYC right now
Nothing like straight up in your face THRASH ....best genre in METAL .
The rerecorded version is even better!
Toxic Holocaust is a fine example of Speed Metal and Black Metal influences coming together.
Sodom is one of the 3 big thrash metal bands in Germany besides Kreator and Destruction
Baptism of fire is awesome too.
Recomend
Krisium - Nuclear Winter (Sodom Cover)
Sodom - Blasfemmer (Live In Thailand)
Yeah!! More classics, please. Would loooove to hear Entombed - Crawl.
Agent orange is their best album

Sodom's M-16 another bestial album, yeahh babeeee!!!!
One of the best thrash songs ever
the big four of thrash slayer, overkill, sodom y kreator lml
Awesome
Nice to see some German thrash metal here!
If you wanna hear some modern Thrash definitely check out bands like Havok, Warbringer and Vektor.
As much as I like Sodom I will always prefer their first two records "In The Sign Of Evil" (mini lp) and "Obsessed By Cruelty" (lp) because of their old school black metal vibes. Interestingly "Obsessed By Cruelty" was recorded twice, the first recording being rejected by the label because it was too bad. The second (far superior) recording was then released as the official album in Germany while for the US release the first recording was mistakenly used, which was then also used for all standard cd releases.
YES!!!
Check out the album in the sign of evil by Sodom if haven't already. Their best work IMHO
Sodom is great when we talk about German thrash scene. There is only one better band,Kreator.
Cool song.
Sodom is what is known as one of the Teutonic Thrash Bands. Teutonic meaning German Thrash. There were the Big 4 of Teutonic Thrash bands from the 80s and they are Destruction, Kreator, Sodom, and Tankard. Tankard was more of a satire band as their stuff was themed after drinking beer in German pubs. But the other three sound very similar to this. Destruction and Kreator are still going pretty strong. And I think Sodom is releasing something new here pretty soon, but I'm not sure. I collect Destruction and Kreator, but not Sodom as I never quite liked his vocals nor the more raw sound of the guitar work. Destruction and Kreator are and have been pretty polished over the last 20 years. Destruction took a break in the 90s for the most part, but got back together in the early 2000s when the Metal scene got its revival. Kreator stayed at it all thru the 90s, but went a little Industrial and experimental with their classic sound, but returned to their Thrash roots in 2001, and haven't looked back since. They reissued their albums up until their 2001 album in various remastered/reissued forms over the last several years and they're pretty nice reissues. Some are 2-disc sets with lots of bonus tracks. Kreator is unique in that they got the guitarist from the Swiss Thrash band Coroner, Tommy T Baron. Coroner was disbanded for about 25 years, but recently reformed and started touring again. Rumor has it that they were gonna make a new album, but nothing solid yet. Coroner was a 3 piece band. Drummer, Bassist/Vocalist, and Guitarist. And the way the bassist played bass, was INSANE. His finger speed was something Steve Harris of Iron Maiden was envious of. Check out their old video for Masked Jackal off of their 2nd album from 1988. Masked Jackal is about dishonest politicians. Go figure, huh? That video played on MTV's Headbangers Ball back in the day and it was what got me hooked on heavy Metal. I was like, "Wow! This is some intense excellent shit!"
You have to react the entire album
Finally my favourite Thrash band of all time! :D
Nobody has mentioned Mekong Delta
Don’t know if you’ve covered Blackbraid yet, but if not, I really recommend checking out “The Spirit Returns” Blackbraid are a Native American Black Metal band
The best album ❤❤
Sodom 👌👍💥🤘😘
R.I.P Chris "Witchunter" one of the best thrash drummers 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nice reaction to an underated band.

Very good Song for Discover Sodom
The 🔥 that doesn't burn!!! 😀 🔥 😀 👍
Into the "Genre defining albums" playlist. A recent trash band I really like is Vektor. Try "Tetrastructural minds"
The Chasm - Return Of The Banished has the most emotionally developed metal solo
Yes baby 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
My favourite Sodom album but not by a lot as every album they have released is good. Give Deathrow's -Deception Ignored a listen, a great album ahead of it's time in 89.
Tip for ladies. If You are death metal fans .then us reconation that by first 5 seconds = wear Art eyelashes on the lower eyelid. and upper eyelid is normal / natural.
Outbreak of Evil!

Try Slapshock's Agent Orange from Philippines

My favourite album is better of dead!it is the most melodic one in the discography of the band;but the honest reason behind it is there is not ONE song that ya wanna skip!greetz
Play anything from Sabbat...the Uk sabbat...
Respect, thats the true metal not that new core-shit everybody reacts on youtube. Want another classic? Black Metal? "Marduk: heaven shall burn...when we are gathered". You wont regret.
German trash metal! One of the best! Greetings from germany!
En los 80 las bandas alemanas eran puro trash y duras ,influencias para muchas bandas destruction otra banda de la vieja escuela
Esto es thrash y death metal al mismo tiempo 🤘🏻🔥
Now you need to really dig into their discography. A deeper cut is In The Sign Of Evil - it's an acquired taste but it'll always be Top 5 Sodom material IMO. EDIT Please god no, his voice is perfect for Black Metal not Death Metal - Death Metal sounds like people trying to pinch a loaf, Sodom were always Blackened Thrash - In The Sign Of Evil being the best example of that, they toned it down for the later albums but it's always under the surface.
❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘⚡⚡⚡
Middle part of the song thats true double bass drumming raw and energetic, not today's crap with triggers and all that tech garbage of most of young drummers or todays bands
I'm more into even earlier low fi Sodom. Blasphemer and Witching metal is like
church for me.
Listened to Sodom in 1989, my ears enjoyed the tunes of Kreator but they locked onto SLAYER.
The thrash genre gave us Demolition Hammer, ..... so Slayer got dethroned.
Demolition Hammer has always been so sick.
😈😈🇧🇷
All the lyrics are a little harder to sing in German!
Sodom and Especially this Album is Anti War metal, like many other Trash Metal Bands
Why possers little princess speaking about lendendary thrash metal bands and their masterpieces there s many youtubers speaking about thrash metal music without know nothing
tray to KREATOR coma of souls song \m/
Almost sounds like a cover of Angel of Death by Slayer.
Rip off of angel of death, very similar riffs
