      Hybrid Network Do you do What ifs? cos Ive always wondered what would happen if a Xenomorph got impregnated by a Facehugger? I know they dont have throats but what if they did and it could happen if you use the Genocide comic where Red Xenos are at war with Black Xenos, the Blacks could take a Red to be Facehugged, would the creature just be a Plain old Xenomorph or could it be a Fastrack to making a Queen or Praetorian?

    I have a slightly different theory on this topic. There are two Engineer factions, they are in conflict with each other, that much stays the same... BUT... the Engineer faction that Hybrid Network calls "Creators" are not really creating or seeding other planets with life, no.
    I think what the "Creator"(for lack of a better word) Engineers did at the beginning of Prometheus was a contingency plan. I think they anticipated that the other faction would win, and believed that the weapons they used(Black Goo, Xenomorphs) would turn against them and also lead to the other factions extinction, which would in essence doom their entire race, regardless of faction, to extinction.
    So, what they did is essentially seed a suitable planet, one very much like their own homeworld, with their own DNA, ensuring that at least *something* of their race would survive... and possibly re-emerge in the far future. And that would be... us. The paintings, who some others here theorized were a warning not to go to the stars, were meant to instill a primal, instinctual fear of what lies beyond our planet into the developing species, to ensure that they would *never* wander beyond the boundaries of their own planet or solar system and get into contact with the horrors which the "Destroyer" faction unleashed.
    That would also explain why the awakened Engineer in Prometheus reacted so violently after discovering where these creatures, which he had never seen before, came from... they/us are the descendants of their ancient enemy.
    So... tell me what you think.

  • @HappisakVideos
    @HappisakVideos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +61

    If you look at the old paintings and tablets showing the star pattern and the engineer pointing to them his lower hand is held in a way as if to say 'stop, don't go to the stars I'm pointing at.' I've always believed the engineers were warning us to keep away, they suspected we would advance to the point of star travel and were trying to warn us away.

    • @Striker163videos
      @Striker163videos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's also possible they were educating us about our history, or possibly what we were meant to become. Did they truly want to destroy us... or transform us because that's what the black goo does. It creates life.

    • @idunbeezasmart1
      @idunbeezasmart1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I don't buy it. If they wanted a future spacefaring humanity to heed a warning, then they could afford to be a lot more forthcoming about it using physics and mathematic models, that a more advanced human would understand, instead of cave paintings meant for primitive man. Not much point in cave paintings since primitive man has a harder time getting into orbit than modern man.

    • @HappisakVideos
      @HappisakVideos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't know how they think. Their warning may have seemed prudent to them at the time.

    • @idunbeezasmart1
      @idunbeezasmart1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're right, we don't know how they think, which makes my reasoning just as sound as yours. However, if you have a time machine and wanted to leave a message that means the difference between life and death to your past self, you wouldn't leave said message as 4 year old you would write it with crayons and symbols. You'd write it so adult you could understand. That's the problem with cave drawings. They are open to interpretation. Physics and mathematics are not. Why try to explain it to a primitive humanity that hasn't even invented the wheel, let alone, space travel? If you wanted to warn an entire species, you make it big and you make it unmistakable.
      Let's not forget, these guys have mastered interstellar travel and can create life itself. I don't think they would even be capable of dumbing it all down to cave drawings.
      Of course, you could very well be right. They could indeed be warnings, but that is just piss poor writing and another reason why Prometheus was garbage.

  • @FolkLaurr
    @FolkLaurr 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think the black goo is perhaps something they synthesized from xenomorphs to create positive life. If not synthesized right it will create negative life, like the xenomorphs.

  • @mattkolb2579

    the engineer's on lv-223 in Prometheus we're also a billion years more evolved than the ones at the beginning, or so Ridley says. I noticed that the engineer's exoskeleton is very similar to the xenomorph exoskeleton I think David had something to do with creating the xenomorph using engineer DNA.

  • @jaystone7587
    @jaystone7587 7 ปีที่แล้ว +88

    I think there is a conflict between the engineers, because it seems some of them want to create, and others want to destroy. In Prometheus, it start off to create us, then towards the end that one engineer wasn't to happy with us. It seems like they're monks and warriors, and that might be the struggle among them.

      Considering just how much time must have passed between that one Engineer beginning life on earth (or giving it a kickstart) and the Prometheus film they could quite simply have changed their minds. Life bearing world? Great! Space-faring species from said world? Bio-weapon the world from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
      A different idea that just occurred to me is that the Engineers we've seen so far aren't the precursor species but their version of an android. If so then these A.E.'s might've been programmed to terraform worlds for their masters (who might be long gone) to colonize. Though if intelligent life should come about on that world then they'll just have to scrap it and start over again. Granted that basically ignores the problem created by the cave drawings.

    People keep talking about factions but in the covenant scene before David has his way, the engineers look like they are welcoming the ship home, like they are excited to see it arrive. They way people are explaining that they are 2 different factions, you would think they could recognize a friendly or hostile ship of their own species.

  • @adamhurst4219
    @adamhurst4219 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    as interesting as the 2 faction notion may be I find the notion that basing it off the way the black goo reacts is highly flawed. The opening scene of Prometheus the engineer ingested the chemical in a small and measured amount combining it with his cardiovascular system flooding it inside out. The chemical dropped on paradise I believe to be the exact same yet both the scale of volume used as well as the method it interacted with living matter was entirely different. The goo breaks down organic matter on a rapid scale allowing it to either be dissipated over a very large area leaving nothing but a carbon shell as seen in covenant or to be reconstituted in a fluid as the carbon simply washes away while molecules attract one another forming the chains of dna seen in Prometheus. All advanced civilizations that lasted any measurable length of time here on earth always had a military faction that was apart from it's civilian population. There is no reason for the engineers society to be any different. Had a civil war broken out between the advanced militarized faction and the civilian faction it's just seems doubtful that the civilian population could have survived it. For example if the American military went against the people the people simply could not out fight the military due to the instruments of war including tanks jets drones missiles and so on that the military has readily available.

    I beginning to think the Xenomorph might be the oldest species in the universe, and is biologically perfect. found by the engineers and had them realize perfection leads to the destruction of the imperfect. maybe two factions of engineers do exist. one that wanted to roll back the engineers DNA and create humans as imperfect beings, and another faction bent on spreading the perfect being.

      Like it... Was just commenting that very idea... (trying to contribute to the types of discussion that should be taking place in such a forum, so pardon this barrage of projectile nerdism.) I think it'll turn out that the xenomorph is a result of life doing what it does best, mutating and adapting (evolving), but over a much larger timescale, several billions of years. Compared to the 800 million years that encompasses the entirety of life on earth from the Cambrian explosion in the oceans, through the epoch of dinosaurs, then the mammalian revolution that led to us; the variety of organisms seem alien to one another and I could see something as terrifyingly adapted to survive as the xenomorph. Having come into existence up to 8 earth histories before earth itself, it's genetic line would have adapted on a cosmic scale. Add in a factor for what an intelligence could do through genetic manipulation or simple contamination, and their could be anything drifting still amongst the stars.

      At this point we can`t be sure who created the Xenomorphs or why they were that stupid, but we know that these creatures have been on the planet Earth before. In ALIENS VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM Xenomorphs are part of the hunting "game", long before Jesus was born. The Predators might even have hunted Dinosaurs, I remember a trophy room/wall and the skull of a Protoceratops or a Zuniceratops - but I am not 100 percent sure. Anyway... In ALIEN: RESURRECTION humans kind of continue the work of the Engineers, thanks to clone technology they create a hybrid: Cloned Ripley. Half human, half Xenomorph and the Xenomorph she "gives birth" to is even capable of "feelings" - again, I am not totally sure of it! Her "offspring´s" face looks more human than Xenomorph and it prefers its mother Clone Ripley. This creature is still dangerous, but proves that the mutation rate of these living beings don`t have any limits!?

    It's sad that a small group of Ridley Scott affectionados have to bang their heads against a wall just to come up with a theory that explains so much of the backstory. Having read through the comments, I'm impressed with the level of scrutiny some fans have focused on elements that were simply thrown in our faces. Trying to make sense out of a convoluted film takes real energy and time. Hopefully, Scott will start filling in some gaping holes in his follow-on films.

    The world shown in Covenant was not the Engineer's home world. Paradise is not seen at all in Covenant, what is shown instead is another planet seeded by the Engineer's, like Earth. When there's a closeup of the inhabitants, they look very different from Engineers.

  • @MrMartechi
    @MrMartechi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If it was indeed a civil war, the "creators" must have had extensive means of fighting back for the "destroyers" to consider such drastic measures as weaponizing the black goo.
    Personally, I have no doubt that there are many other planets colonized by the engineers. It wouldn't make sense for them to develop interstellar travel and then only having *one* outpost. Paradise might have been the last enclave of the creators.

  • @DaveDangerous74
    @DaveDangerous74 7 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    People ignore the facts on this issue and decide to come up with theories.
    Originally, Jesus was supposed to be an engineer. The Romans killed him and the engineers were going to try to get revenge for his death.
    That part of the plot was removed from the script because it was controversial.

    What I find unusual is what relationship if any that the Engineers have with the Predators. In the Aliens universe both seem to have visited Earth. I think that the Engineers wanted to create a species close to them [for whatever reason?] however they showed us how to build civilization [like in books like Chariot of the Gods] and how to be sustainers of civilization and the environment. How the Predators may have showed up from time to time and used Earth as a game preserve and showed us more advanced forms of warfare. I think in the Aliens universe both the Engineers and Predators would hate one another and probably be in a Darwinian state of war. Engineers probably would feel that making us [some of them] was a mistake because we had become like their enemies or could become potential enemies at some point in time. Just my guess. It could also be possible there was a civil war or shaw/david dropped the biological weapons on the Engineers. I hope the Engineer race is not completely killed off. I find them interesting aliens.

And it was around the time Prometheus was coming out, and fans were speculating if it was in a way spoiling Ridley Scotts envisioning of the engineers seemingly as if they have two different cultures in the movie and games coming out at the time. You could say the race of engineers on planet 4 or paradise didn’t dissolve or disintegrate because the black goo was airborne so it was inhaled not ingested like the engineer did in the Prometheus’s intro. In Prometheus it’s hinted that the goo has different effects depending on how host comes in contact with it.

    the question nobody can answer is: who laid the eggs on Paradise? Clearly, in "Aliens", there was a rather large queen involved. Covenant shows no queen of that magnitude...so either that queen still resides there or there's more going on with this story. If there is one more prequel, Ridley Scott better start rounding the corners really fast because he's only going to have about 2 hours to do it and it's not going to end well if he can't.

    I would love if you guys could organise theories for AVP Underworld where you, Mr H and Alien Theories may not agree and hear the 3 of you explain reasons why you think your theory to be the correct one :)
    Also believe I heard a couple of times someone asking if the AVP movies were canon. I believe Fox came out years ago stating them to be not canon but if you enjoy them watch them and enjoy them still by all means :)

    I've had a hypothesis brewing since Prometheus came out, exclusive of any extra material or interviews, just from the film. We are starved for information: ships were in hangers; one was loaded with goo canisters; the temple room contained canisters that activated only after the room's seal was broken; there were a corpse pile of engineers; and a playback of engineers that appeared to be fleeing something. Presuming the mission was to deliver the loaded ship to earth to unload the goo payload and the revived engineer went immediately into action to complete the mission. The DNA match between the found head and humans was a match. The physical differences and lack of any diversity in the engineers makes me wonder the enzymes and proteins of engineers was very different from those in humans.
    LV223 was a depot or staging area. Nothing seen indicates any manufacturing or testing facilities, there did not seem to be any kind of offensive or defensive arms, the fleeing engineers never had side arms or even pointy sticks to protect themselves as they ran for cover. This infers they were not soldiers, but more like a delivery service.
    The temple room was storage for containers that were defective. What ever safety containment mechanisms used, they were failing on these containers. Might be the atmosphere mix, pressure, temperature, or some other environmental qualities kept the goo from activating in the sealed room. Once the Prometheus crew opened the door, things changed quickly. Perhaps david even knew this, since there were mission objectives and goals that were not stated.
    The engineers are specific built clones. Mapped from the same DNA base and even imprinted with their mission into their brain. This might explain no independence of actions other than to complete their tasks as well as their identical appearance. Their physiology allowed them to operate breathing the atmosphere that was noxious to humans. This works with the suicide seeding in the opening scenes. They were unable to do anything except what they had been coded to do.
    The higher level behind the goo keyed it to work on human DNA and most likely engineer DNA as well. Was it a weapon or perhaps their version of Round Up, a weed killer to get rid of human infestation when it became an annoyance. It has a very long shelf life if two thousand years is accurate. I have wondered if there is a counter agent to the goo or some effective life time or half-life to their Round Up.
    Still a work in progress.

    I think engineers have factions, but they are not at odds with one another. The spiritual leaders seed life, and ocassionally visit to teach us. One other thing to think about is that 1 faction didn't like where they were going with their society and decided on a more agrarian movement to make life less troublesome. The engineers did create the aliens as a weapon. The statues and mosaics on the ceiling in Prometheus lend credit to that idea.

    @Hybrid Network Theory for you Nick, if the original Engineer head was carbon dated at 2,000 years (being the time of the recorded outbreak) and there was a minor ecosystem present in the temple room; could this mean that the goo while acting as a mutative accelerant naturally recesses back to its base form over time?

    The black chemical used in the beginning of Prometheus does seem different from the other chemical carried by the "militant" engineers. They also appear to be in different styled canisters. One has a bit of a bowl shape while the other is kept in glass sealed tubes in a coating of goo like substance within its canister most likely because of its destructive properties.(The scene when David takes this stuff from the sealed off storage place, which was not so sealed once the crew arrived.

  • @chrisf8097

    I like this idea because it could branch off into so many different directions. Was there a Civil War? There could have been. The two factions of Engineers could have been something to the effect of the sons of Abraham in the Old Testament. Not all creation gets along, but that could mean that the Engineers were in fact created by another Creator. This could lead further down the rabbit hole and leave room for more to explore in the prequel trilogy if Ridley Scott is serious about making five more movies prior to tying into the original Alien.

Scott said they didn't create the xenos, but they clearly revere them in some way, judging by the religious looking mural in the head room in Prometheus and their xeno-like architecture and body armor. Any theories as to why this is? Did they maybe both come from a shared ancestor species or creator?

      Jon B Baca David created the xenomorph,so its possible the bio mechanical look was a inspiration by looking at the ships design or the enginner's suit,and making it look similar,considering how much time he spent all alone and nothing else to do

      they may have put that there as a sign of what was inside that room.

      to them, that mural may have just simply been a sign telling others to stay the hell back.
      the armor and whatnot could have been from trial and error and finding that the Deacon alien had amazing protection.

Sure he was odd before, yet from the second he played with the goo he became hell bent on spreading it, which is exactly what the goo wants.

    You're all WRONG!! The Engineer Civil War was sparked when an Engineer traveled about 2000 years forward in time to see if humans would become something worthy. Unfortunately, his time ship materialized outside a Drive-In Theater where the first Aliens vs. Predator movie was playing. He couldn't help but watch the entire movie in stunned disbelief. Afterwards, he went back in time and reported his findings. Many, many Engineers were totally outraged and demanded the extinction of the human race.
    However, many other Engineers fell in love with Sanaa Lathan the moment they saw her and refused to cooperate. Many of those Engineers wanted to hibernate inside cryo chambers for 2000 years, then wake up & travel to Earth to meet her in person. (They couldn't use the time ship, because there was only ONE of them and it couldn't accommodate half the entire population.) So the Civil War began...

    #HybridNetwork I personally think that there are two factions: ones that create and destroy. But in the Head Room where they stored the black goo vile, I always thought that there were concentrated samples of dangerous biological lifeforms of all kinds, kept in separate in each vile (I thought that the engineers worshiped them but as far as if they created them or found them I don't know but with the xenos they must have found them eons ago.) I think when the Prometheus team entered into the room, they changed the chemistry of the already fragile 2000+ year old catacomb. Upon investigating, the tops of the urns were melting out black goo, ultimately mixing with each other, God know what dangerous species in that goo each vile was mixing with, also having the potential to make a new thereat. That's when one of the group members stepped in the black goo, causing it to morph into parasitic looking worms. Through out the video it kind of confused me because I wasn't so sure that the urns stacked up in the arsenal were even remotely the same as the urns in the tribunal head room. The chem. could be totally different, but the movie never made it definitive, everyone just assumed they were just by looks.
    Also, might I add inside the tribunal room, David was overlooking the xenomorph mural, with the xenomorph looking at the EMERALD GREEN CRYSTAL that was morphed into a stone looking pedestal. No one has mentioned anything about that crystal, it's purpose, and significance with the xenomorph mural looking down on the giant gem. Or is it even a gem at all? Could it be a life form, genetic soup like the black goo, inside the eerie transparent like glass?
    Also I find it strange that each planet Weyland corp. discovers and tried to terraform and colonize, the only life found there is limited to microbial life. HOW STRANGE. It's like like around our section of the galaxy was just wiped out except for us. Would it have been a war between theses engineer factions? Ugh I just really want to see a movie where Scott does explore more of the engineers, xenos, and other alien factions to let us know there is more to life than just humans. XD man I love fan theories. This fandom is so unique, we got to keep it alive.
