I was hoping Covenant would be more Engineers and less monsters. The Engineers were not evil but they had definitely become murderous towards us. I wanted that theme explored.
So maybe Ridley will make a sequel to Alien. A lot of people hated DAVID FINCHER'S Alien 3, and by extension Alien Resurrection, but Ridley Scott didn't do Aliens either. They say the franchise is Ridley Scott's, but it's not like he wrote Alien in the first place. James Cameron wrote Aliens, in addition to directing it

I'll be catching this as soon as it comes out here in the 'States. it's refreshing to see Ridley Scott go back to the formula that made this entire franchise work. While I was certainly disappointed in Prometheus, it was a visual masterpiece...and apparently laid the groundwork for the formulation of the franchise's new direction. Hi Nick, great video. Just one question, you mention the Deacon is not going to be in Alien Covenant, is that actually officially confirmed? I was wondering of a potential stowaway situation from LV223 as I would imagine the birth of the Deacon in Prometheus would happen well before they finally leave the planet (the scenes are not meant to sequential in Prometheus in my opinion). Just a thought .... Shaw may not be attacked during the journey and David may know about it and protecting it...

I am getting more excited for Covenant the closer we get to release despite learning of David's hand in creating the Xenomorph. I think I am most excited to see how the Neomorphs and Xenomorphs get along. Will they ignore each other and just attack humans? Will they both attack humans and each other? I would also love an Alien 5 with the characters of Ripley, Hicks and Newt returning. It could be a great send off for Ripley and I would love it if Carrie Henn reprised her role as Newt.
I'm a new fan of of the Alien universe due to the release of the trailer. I saw Prometheus first, then watched the original Aliens film. My next stop in following the Aliens timeline is to play Alien: Isolation. There is a vast amount of written work expanding the Aliens universe and I'm at a standstill on what to read first. Can I get some recommendations on what would be good cannon for a beginner?

perhaps Shaw is critically injured in an engineer retaliation to David releasing the mutagen on them, leading david to use the mutagen to save Shaw. She may still become an alien of sorts or perhaps morphed into the first egg?
excellent video! What I'm looking forward to is, Ridley Scott has one scene in the movie that will shock us, I don't think it's the Neomorph's bursting scenes as we know this will happen. Just like Prometheus, the med bay scene was the shock factor, in Alien it was the chest burster scene. So I'm just curious to this out. At the end of Prometheus when the engineer wants to take of with the ship and the crew have a final showdown I was at the edge of my seat and then that ending that just leaves so much questions about what is going to happen next, It was great and hope this movie will be to as well.
I've always wondered about hypersleep. Alien 1&2 made the transition to wakefulness seem just like arising on planet Earth. I envision some early comic relief in the story line by having some of the crew experience dry heaves.
how do you explain the difference in the level of technology between Prometheus and alien covenant? Prometheus had modern times version of futuristic technology while alien covenant seems to go back to its roots and has 80's version of futuristic technology. this doesn't make much sense because covenant is supposed to be place many years after Prometheus. why does the ship and suit and guns look low tech in comparison?
The way Neil Blomkampf's Alien 5 can finally be revived and be released alongside Ridley Scott's Alien movies is if James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd co-produce it!
With Prometheus and Covenant, does this rule out the storylines of AVP and Requiem? I thought Requiem wasn't very good, low budget and all but I liked AvP both as a concept and movie. A big budget reboot of that storyline would be awesome.

I don’t know if Luke Scott is trying to be himself or just get out of his father’s shadow, but he is talented nonetheless. I liked Morgan and how he developed his characters. I liked the ending, even though there was something that throw me off. An Alien Sequel that doesn’t have to titled Alien could be his next challenge.
I am less interested in Covenant than I am in seeing the reboot of Alien 3 that has apparently been scrapped. I would really love to see Ripley , Hicks and Newt come out in a proper continuation of Aliens which was by far one of the very best Sci-fi movies ever made.
Dark Horse comics did the 1st Alien vs Predator series and a movie of that, if done right or anything close to that series, would be very entertaining to watch.
Sad to hear Aliens Part 2 isn't coming to fruition, as Sigourney Weaver talked about it....BUT looking forward to any and all Alien films for sure!!!!!
I'm disappointed Harry Gregson-Williams and Marc Streitenfeld aren't returning to score the film, but I'm hopeful for Kurzel. I hope he keeps some of the themes from Prometheus and captures the atmosphere that Streitenfeld created.
I wish they would focus more on the Engineers story as well, and make another movie for people who want to see the hack and slash from the xenomorphs...
Maybe there are 2 races to the Engineers as you speculated and the 'destroyer' race might become the Predators as the years went by and their technology would've improved. Might be the third film
After seeing digital Leia in Rogue One, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a digital Ian Holm as the prototype model Ash is based on (at least being an android could be an explanation to the naysayers who think it looks wrong)

Excellent review, thank you, I'm counting the days to see the movie, when I was 7 years old I saw the first movie and literally pissed myself in my bed because I refused to go to pee the bathroom on the ground floor alone (My older brother did not want to go With me so he understood why he should lead the little brother to the bathroom after a horror film, especially if both share the same bed, ha ha ha) the movie was real terror. Now I am 35 years old and I want to feel that fear again, Fucking Covenant 17 days is still missing. Xo xo

perhaps Shaw is critically injured in an engineer retaliation to David releasing the mutagen on them, leading david to use the mutagen to save Shaw. She may still become an alien of sorts or perhaps morphed into the first egg?

One of the best things is that there are a lot more people, so you can form emotional attachment to them and then watch them gruesomely killed off.
excellent video! What I'm looking forward to is, Ridley Scott has one scene in the movie that will shock us, I don't think it's the Neomorph's bursting scenes as we know this will happen. Just like Prometheus, the med bay scene was the shock factor, in Alien it was the chest burster scene. So I'm just curious to this out. I hope Alien:covenant is successful so they can continue the story line.

I cant wait ive recently got into the lore of the universe, ive always been into it but i appreciate it more now and cant wait to see it, im in the UK so i more than likely will be seeing it i around 19th-20th
I really want to see this movie. At the end of Prometheus when the engineer wants to take of with the ship and the crew have a final showdown I was at the edge of my seat and then that ending that just leaves so much questions about what is going to happen next, It was great and hope this movie will be to as well.
I am hoping to see Alien Covenant the first weekend it's released !
I've always wondered about hypersleep. Alien 1&2 made the transition to wakefulness seem just like arising on planet Earth. I envision some early comic relief in the story line by having some of the crew experience dry heaves.

how do you explain the difference in the level of technology between Prometheus and alien covenant? Prometheus had modern times version of futuristic technology while alien covenant seems to go back to its roots and has 80's version of futuristic technology. this doesn't make much sense because covenant is supposed to be place many years after Prometheus. why does the ship and suit and guns look low tech in comparison?
The way Neil Blomkampf's Alien 5 can finally be revived and be released alongside Ridley Scott's Alien movies is if James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd co-produce it!

With Prometheus and Covenant, does this rule out the storylines of AVP and Requiem? I thought Requiem wasn't very good, low budget and all but I liked AvP both as a concept and movie. A big budget reboot of that storyline would be awesome.
Not sure if you're aware, but the bull alien is from a special edition of Alien 3. I just happen to catch it on cable one night. The alternate version of Alien 3 is much better than the theatrical release.

I don’t know if Luke Scott is trying to be himself or just get out of his father’s shadow, but he is talented nonetheless. I liked Morgan and how he developed his characters. I liked the ending, even though there was something that throw me off. An Alien Sequel that doesn’t have to titled Alien could be his next challenge.
Aliens Defiance is a great comic series, would loved to have seen Alien 5 happen.

I am less interested in Covenant than I am in seeing the reboot of Alien 3 that has apparently been scrapped. I would really love to see Ripley , Hicks and Newt come out in a proper continuation of Aliens which was by far one of the very best Sci-fi movies ever made.
Dark Horse comics did the 1st Alien vs Predator series and a movie of that, if done right or anything close to that series, would be very entertaining to watch.
Sad to hear Aliens Part 2 isn't coming to fruition, as Sigourney Weaver talked about it....BUT looking forward to any and all Alien films for sure!!!!!
I'm disappointed Harry Gregson-Williams and Marc Streitenfeld aren't returning to score the film, but I'm hopeful for Kurzel. I hope he keeps some of the themes from Prometheus and captures the atmosphere that Streitenfeld created.

Maybe there are 2 races to the Engineers as you speculated and the 'destroyer' race might become the Predators as the years went by and their technology would've improved. Might be the third film
