@@N8TheGreatG Maul isn't overrated as a character, he's amazing. However, i think the huge amount of love for his character, makes people think he's way more powerful than he is. Not sure if that's what you meant, but clearly Dooku is way more powerful
Dooku is probably the least talked about significant character. He gets 3 lightsaber duels, cut off Anakin's hand, and was extremely important to the Clone Wars yet nobody talks about him.
Dooku is the most underrated SW villian. Also - Cristopher Lee was the only SW cast actor who actively practiced Real life sword combat, and literally were a war veteran. When Brit Queen granted him knighthood, she knew that this time - it wasn't just a fancy title (looking at u Elton John) His fencing style the most awesome bc: 1) it looks very elegant. 2) it closest to what a real saber/rapier fencing looks like
Yes. Chuck Norris wishes he was Christopher Lee. But, Lee didn't do the swordwork in the Prequels - his face was CGI'ed in. While he was probably a badass with a sword in his prime, he was already in his 80s and they used an expert swordsman in his place for his dueling scenes.
The best Sir Christopher Lee story is LOTR, when Peter Jackson said oh when he gets stabbed in the back he makes this sound and Christopher Lee said "that's not the sound someone makes when you shove a knife in them" .........😮
Well to be fair we have Maul and Dooku here. I’m not sure about Ray Park doing swordsmanship but he did his own stunts and he has mastered some martial arts ^^
Not only do I want a Dooku series but a series about a Star Destroyer and her crew and journeys. Kind of in the vein of Star Trek, only told from the Imperial perspective
@@Exile97 He beat Savage and Maul blasted him easily knocking him out and destroying the tunnel, in order to save Savage. Maul was capable of dueling Obi Wan 1v1 and even capable of doing 2v1 as seen in TPM. And I'm pretty sure Dooku's form is a perfect counter to Obi Wan's form, which is why he's able to break his defences so quickly and plus Dooku uses the force a lot on Obi Wan, which Maul is able to do but he prefers using his lightsaber. Stupendous also made a video of why Obi Wan terrified Dooku, which is another video that makes it hard for me to believe anything he says when it comes to characters power levels.
Sidious was so worried about Dooku becoming a rival / enemy that he recruited him as an ally rather than ever confront him with intent to kill. That speaks for itself
In Legends that was the case but in Canon he did not see Dooku as a threat by himself he did not see Maul as a threat any time in Legends and he did not see Maul alone without Talzin And Or Savage as a threat.
@soularprimestudios5930 yea he said that right before smoking him and Savage very easily, laughing the whole time. Difference between rival and threat.
@@soularprimestudios5930 He meant rival in terms of having influence over the galaxy. Sidious wanted it all, so Maul & Savage were in his way. Doesn't mean they ever stood a chance against him in a fight though. Count Dooku however, win or lose, would actually duel Sidious to his limits n' be a threat.
He probably wouldn't have even killed anakin anyway if it were offered. He was once a Jedi and has a light that is visible through his character. But I could be wrong.
@@simplialpha2117 Dooku has ruthlessly killed numerous Jedi and even innocent civilians many times. Hell he even murdered his own sister in canon when he turned to the dark side who he had loved the most at the time. He has also ordered the deaths of Jedi and civilians alike. He is a Sith. He WAS a Jedi. He will surely kill Anakin if given the chance.
I'm not so sure about that. While it seems Maul is not using various Force abilities, it's because he focuses on using the Force to enhance his combat skills.
I think maul is just less refined in his force power and did more strength based feats like taking down the ship with ahsoka and rex. Dooku knew exactly how much to use and where to focus it
Bear in mind that Maul was cut down before, debatably, he even entered his prime. He was three years younger than Obi-Wan and was 22 years old when he fought him and Qui Gon. Whilst Maul was in his physical prime at that point, a force user has far further to rise as they continue to attune themselves to the Force throughout their lives. Dooku was the greater no question but had several more decades to hone his abilities, and he had the wisdom of both the light and dark sides of the Force to draw from. Did Maul have those advantages? That Maul could even be a threat to old masters, even after spending a couple decades as a deranged lunatic, shows how miraculous he was in his own way.
I know this is 5 months old but still, Maul wasn’t even trained fully by sidious because to sidious maul was nothing but a pawn. Imagine if sidious trained maul like he trained Anakin.

He barely beat anikan in the later stages of the clone wars, plus anikan was only 23 when he finally beat dooku, imagine if anikan never went into the suite
@@smilingassassin8229 There's at least a couple explanations in the story on why Dooku lost - there's so much lore that people make(books) without knowing what someone else already established that it's too convoluted - that's why we get Shaak Ti dying like 4 different ways. I've seen where it's been explained that Dooku lost because he waited too late in life to start using the dark side, his strength was diminishing quickly since he started using it. I saw another where he lost because Palpatine told him to go easy on Anakin because he had plans for him. Palpatine was already pissed at Dooku for cutting off Anakin's arm because you lose midichlorians(power) when you lose limbs. What's funny is Lucas said Luke was just as strong as Anakin. So by the time Grandmaster Luke comes along that's essentially full potential Anakin
I strongly think that Dooku would be more than able to defeat Maul! Although a capable duelist, Maul fights purely with his emotions, whereas Dooku is more tactical in his fighting, he knows what he needs to do and how to get it done!!
It's not so much that he's tactical as he is technical. He's pure technique. He's a technical fighter and maul is an emotional fighter, which both have their benefits, but fighting with your emotions is meaningless if it's not built first and foremost on a foundation of technique. Dooku valued technique over everything. I'd even argue that its possible someone with little to no force ability, but perfect technique, could defeat a force user who mostly relies on their emotions.
@@TheHeroRobertELee I would normally agree with you but the force is powered completely on your emotions. So someone like maul a zabrak with insane dark side potential fighting completely on emotion his speed and power would allow him to speed blitz and over power the most talented duelist. @@johnathanheatherman6438 what you say is true however against a seasoned veteran like dooku who is portrayed to be mayweather levels of technical in his saber technique would quickly capitalize on any mistakes maul would make and even force maul to make mistakes. @@johnathanheatherman6438 also dooku as a lightsaber duelist is able to contend with yoda and is in the same tier as anakin and windu. Maul lost to padawan kenobi and also lost to ahsoka.
I would say Dooko, maul is so rage filled, and sometimes this is good, but can be blind to counter strikes, and others, also Dooko was one of the lead Sepraratists
In a real fight the only advantage to being rage filled is ignoring your own wounds, and ignoring "staggering" (being interrupted) while attacking, you get endurance and some attack in exhange for losing the ability to be present and plan your attack and defense. I have germanic blood i've experienced this sort of battle rage thing.
yeah the only "weakness" Dooku has imo is his age. he wasn't getting any younger. but as a duelist, and most importantly, as a character, he is absolutely a master. brute force is not enough to win, especially coupled with arrogance. and i do not think he went all out vs Anakin during the Battle of Coruscant either. he was told not to by Sidious. by the time he saw himself loosing, it was too late. he ALLOWED Anakin to gain the upper hand, and it was his aging body that prevented him from countering him successfully, if he even tried to, that is.
Correct In My opinion Dooku was in his eighties or around that when he was killed by anakin and I also believe he was holding back on palpatines orders He defeated obi wan on a number of occasions and when young only Yoda was capable of beating him Vapad would not have worked on him before his turn to the dark side so he would have had the advantage over windu
@@jtaylorgang9140 I think a young jedi dooku beats windu However a older dark side dooku loses to mace Mace lises some of his power when he fights against non dark side users when he can’t turn their power against them
nope, because dooku cheated to defeat obi-wan in Episode 3, by using super battle droids to distract Kenobi, dooku himself admitted in the novel that he cheated
Because he knew acrobatics don't work too well on Obi-Wan and he didn't like using them. Most of Obi-Wans enemy's are highly skilled in acrobatics which is basically their downfall. Obi-Wan is fairly good at Ataru and a master of Soresu. He can use acrobatics from Ataru to gain momentum and knows how to counter them with swift Soresu strikes. Example: Anakin lost in Episode 3 because he tried to pull of the finisher on Obi-Wan which Obi-Wan used to separate Maul from his lower body. This also shows that Obi-Wan mostly never falls for the same thing twice. You can also see that when Maul tries to take out Obi-Wan by using the finisher he used to kill Qui Gon in Rebels. It also didn't work. Dooku on the other hand never made the mistake to use fancy acrobatics against Obi-Wan. Dooku also doesn't sacrifice defence for momentum like most of the other foes Obi-Wan faced (Maul, Ventress, Anakin, Grievous). Dooku's combat style is rather balanced. That's why Obi-Wan struggled so much against him. That being said Dooku's safest bet was to take him out with the force which he did.
dooku is underrated in my opinion. Probably because of his lack of screen time in the movies. but his time in the clone wars show made up for it. But if we were to get a movie or a mini series on how he became disillusioned with the Jedi and the republic, that would be cool. It seems like a pretty compelling story.
I am a huge Darth Maul fan. And even I can't see a single area of lightsaber combat or force skill where Maul beats Dooku. If the two fought 1000 times, I can see Dooku winning 950 times.
I disagree, as a fellow huge darth maul fan... on dueling skills alone I give maul a great advantage... in use of the force dooku definitely has an overwhelming advantage though... the only way I see maul getting beat alot is due to his own overconfidence and arrogance as we saw in phantom menace...
@@Sebastian-gs3cg prime dooku when he was younger vs a prime maul with his legs still attached I'd give a win to maul more often than dooku, my comment was based on dueling alone, he has all the skills needed necessary to take on and take out dooku, but force wise I'm not biased enough to think maul would win a battle of force powers... dooku would beat him with ease... both have their natural talents, dooku with the force and maul with the lightsaber... oh and I'm not forgetting that dooku was very skilled in dueling either, he could beat maul likewise but its merely my own opinion that a focused maul would triumph more times in a fight between them
@@leejamesmccarthy Didn't Maul get beat by Grievous? And Obi-Wan? Not even Obi could beat Dooku. Mauls most impressive feat was beating Qui-Gon then went on to getting beat in every other battle. @@nameynamename3758 you mentioning him getting beat by grievous isnt that important to this, grievous defeated many jedi and similar dark siders like maul, he defeated asajj, so should we write her off too? As for obi wan beating him and not beating dooku, yeah I'll agree halfway on that you have a point but dooku didn't defeat obi wan in a duel without resorting to using the force in ep. 3 so obi wan had improved immensely since being beaten by dooku the first time... and maul had obi wan at his mercy in phantom menace, he lost his lower half and the fight coz of his own cocky arrogance and confidence not coz of obi wans dueling abilities at the time
If Count Dooku and Darth Maul were given a chance to duel each other, I think Dooku would have the upper hand because he was known to be an elegant swordsman when it comes to lightsaber combat. He fights like an old school swashbuckler.
Darth maul definitely winning, Palpatine saw more potential in darth maul then the night mother. to add he waaaaaay more popular, even lucus was going to make him the new emperor in the new Era.
I think there is one *incredibly* crucial aspect that ultimately makes Maul more dangerous. Yes, Dooku reached a level of skill that Maul never seemed to achieve, but I think ultimately Maul had the greater potential of the two. Dooku spent a very long lifetime mastering his abilities, but Maul was able to learn new skills at an insanely fast pace. You covered how ridiculously fast Maul picked up fighting styles here, but another aspect of his fast learning was manipulation. (As far as I know) Sidious trained Maul to be an assassin, not a Sith Lord, or politician. He didn't train Maul to manipulate people, or entire populations. Maul literally picked it up just from observing his master and instantly put his skills to use once he set out on his own. I mean think about it, with no training in the area, Maul manipulated his way onto the throne of Mandalore, home of the best fighting force in the entire galaxy aside from the Jedi. And he had assembled a crime network that was quickly expanding throughout the neutral systems. At a time when neither Sidious or the Jedi could have devoted all their strength to him (*all* of Sidious' strength would have been a Republic army as well as himself and Dooku), Maul placed himself in a position to gain a nearly equal level of potential power. In two ways Sidious recognised that he had to kill Maul the second Maul was learning too fast. One was when Sidious travelled to Mandalore to deal with Maul himself and prevent him from conquering the neutral systems, as discussed above. Another was in their direct duel. Initially, Sidious is dominating both Maul and Savage Oppress, Maul's brother and apprentice. Sidious even kills Savage in a way that looked like he was obviously showing off. He was toying with the pair just so he could piss off Maul and satisfy himself with the fight. Then he goes 1v1 with Maul, and strangely, despite no longer having help, Maul is doing better. I think he initially planned to toy with Maul. He was effectively sparring with him, when he could have just picked Maul up with the Force and ended the fight immediately. He did this because he saw no risk. But the longer the duel became, the more Maul gained the upper hand, until he manages to kick Sidious hard enough to send him flying. When Sidious looks up, he is visibly enraged. This was not part of the plan. Sidious cuts the duel short by grabbing Maul with the Force, because he is for a moment afraid Maul could actually kill him. What can we gather from this? Even to a moment by moment basis Maul was *extremely* good at adapting to a situation. Sidious underestimated this, and as a result, the longer he toyed with Maul, the better Maul became at fighting him. Now something very important is Maul spent a massive amount of his life out of commission. He was scavenging for survival on a junk planet after Kenobi cut off his legs, and the implication in Rebels was that he'd been stuck on a Sith planet with nothing to do for many years. If Maul had spent all those missed years, and the ones he did have, studying the Force and practicing fighting skills with the same discipline Dooku honed his skills, then by the time Maul became Dooku's age, I think he could have absolutely crushed either Sidious or Dooku.
Ma man you just wrote a fuckin dissertation on the topic. Very well constructed arguments backed with actual examples and data, you bought me. Hats off
This is all just a "what if". The question is "who is", not "who would be", making this post irrelevant. At the time of both of their deaths, I don't think it's really arguable at all that Dooku was more powerful. Especially when it comes to use of the force.
Yoda mentions in the middle of the Clone Wars on equal ground only Mace Windu was Dooku's equal with a blade, which means even at his peak, Windu had no surpassed Dooku in skill with a blade.
@@bradleysaunders1730 you may remember Maul didn't contend with Windu in SoD for more than two strikes, his commandos interrupted the conflict with a missile. Dooku was fighting two Jedi Masters and effortlessly killed one and kept Kenobi at bay without any seeming effort or assistance. Aayla is also not considered a skilled duelist.
@@amunraofrg Not really, for two reasons; firstly Mace could be a superior lightsaber duelist to Sidious, Dooku was considered on part with both in lightsaber skill, but not in Force power compared to Sidious, Vaapad is uniquely suited to fight someone like Sidious because it functions as a conduit. Even with Vaapad, considering that Sidious actually evaded Mace's guard and held him at saber point shortly into their duel(when it transitions to the hall) then lets him reengage to keep the duel going. Sidious wanted Anakin to make a choice and left the only Jedi left in the room was the one Jedi who had always given Anakin the hardest time about to violate the Jedi code and kill an unarmed prisoner who also happened to be Anakin's father figure and only way to save his wife. That Sidious immediately ended Windu as soon as Anakin cut off his hand shows he was playing possum. The Novelization even confirms this with Mace admitting that it was only through Vaapad's connection loop(using Sidious own power against him) that he was even able to keep up, but when Sidious was pushing Mace's blade back with lightning, "This was beyond Vaapad, he could not defend against his own blade" and Sidious mocking him "Fool! You think the fear you feel is mine?" Sidious planned the entire encounter and made certain the choice was stacked in his favor for Anakin to choose him instead of the Jedi who was breaking all his own rules he always gave Anakin hell about just to kill Anakin's only hope for his wife. Windu was never in control of that duel, even before it started it was mapped out by Sidious.
Maybe because the only Sith we ever got in the live action movies were Maul, Dooku, Vader and Sidious. He's the only Sith (in the main movies) that IS a Palpatine LOL
@@dilospino Still Maul even in his advanced age in Rebels was never able to generate lightning and that is on purpose, to show that he never truly rose to the level of the actual masters of the force.
In the Clone Wars show, Dooku is hesitant to teach Savage Oppress how to use force lightning, or even how to defend against it, kind of making a point that a Sith master would want to withhold that knowledge from an apprentice, because they knew that a true Sith would use it against them. So it's interesting that Dooku knows how to use it, while Maul and Vader don't. Either Palpatine didn't consider Dooku to be as much of a threat as his other apprentices, or trusted him more than them, or Dooku perhaps was just able to figure out how to use it on his own.
That is true but maul killed a Jedi master, which is impression it’s own, but the Jedi master he killed trained obi-wan who trained anakin who killed Dooku. Idk it’s a big loop I say draw
In legends Maul has far more kills than ever shown in the films and the Clone Wars. And he even beat Obi-Wan a few times during the Clone Wars, he is alot more powerful in Legends.
I think Dooku was the stronger Sith. Maul lost himself in his rage. Being a sith means that he has to use other skills like being able to resist feights.

Obi-Wan Kenobi killed Maul in 3 blows and despite Maul often underestimating foes or lowering his guard due to arrogance, Obi-Wan did defeated him before. Obi-Wan Kenobi has never actually defeated Dooku before.
I believe that Maul had a potential to become equally as powerful as Dooku, he never became though because of his defeat on Naboo and years of craziness while being stranded. After Savage found him, and later, He still was a powerful warrior, never as powerful as Dooku though since no one really continued his training in the way Sidious would.
He was already fully trained, he was as deadly as can be, but like stated in the video, he’s obsessed with crushing his foe is rad of just winning as quickly as possible. That arrogance will always be his downfall.
@@henrikaugustsson4041 I was thinking more about knowledge, and mentality what would made him more dangerous opponent than he ever was. As you said, his obsession was his weakness, and in my opinion, it was reason why Maul was so limited. He was consumed by desire for revenge, and for long time revenge was his only desire. If he focused more on obtaining knowledge about the force and studying the history of sith, he would became more powerful overall. Even alone he could do that, but his obsessions made him to choose another way. Now imagine if someone like Sidious continued his training in that aspects after what happened on Naboo (in case of Maul's victory). Of course if only his master would like to train Maul to make him achieve his full potential as a sith lord.
@@matthaeusdecuiavia8637 Yes, he could grow more powerful, but Sidious would never teach him how to become more powerful than himself, I think. I think that's why he made Maul into a rage-fueled assassin, almost like how Master Li in Jade Empire teaches the player an exploitable flaw that he can use to his advantage. I completely agree. I'm hoping when they finally do a Darth Plagueis/ young Sidious series or film, one of the main characters should also be Dooku. I love the idea that he could be the guy on the Jedi Council who sensed things were afoot but was ignored and from there we could see how he took his steps towards the Dark side. I love the idea of a scene where Dooku and a still fairly young Sidious get into it and Dooku gets the better of him but Sidious is saved by Plagueis and just when it looks like Plagueis is about to kill him, he spares Dooku's life and says something like " Perhaps you can be of use....." Setting up perfectly for them to begin their manipulation and gradual implosion of the Jedi. Awesome!
Young fool. Palpatine has no equal and even when he served his master he was simply using him for power and knowledge waiting for the moment to come when he was no longer of any use. Dooku was nothing more than peripheral for Palpatine to manipulate as he wished.

The thing about the saber staff is that it is somewhat ineffective to people who learn how to counter it. The two blades are parallel to each other, if you know where blade one is you know exactly where blade two is at all times. It is an incredibly powerful weapon but once you eliminate its biggest advantage: the intimidation and fear that results from fighting a nonstandard weapon, it becomes noticeably inferior as a weapon. Saberstaffs are more limited in the forms they can be utilized by effectively. For example, form 2 would be basically unusable by a saber staff, and even form 5 had a few disadvantages. There were reasons Sidious hated dual sabers. Especially considering he already kinda disliked lightsabers since the only weapon he viewed that he needed was the force. His use of lightsabers for the most part was mainly done to moch those who were dedicated lightsaber duelists who he could best despite not even devoting himself to the craft. It was like him playing with his food to show them how weak they were.
@@WilfredIvanhoe, and since Obi Wan managed it when he was only a Padawan, Dooku would also manage to cut Maul's saber in half, therefor eliminating any possibility of intimidation. Since Dooku demonstrated that he can defeat a Jedi Knight and his Padawan (Obi Wan and Anakin) and survive a fight against Yoda imidiatly after that, it's allready made clear that Dooku would wipe the floor with Maul.
@@thatonetallguy777 that is correct, I remember there was a book and in it, it said Dooku would play mind games to his advantage and really confuse his enemy.
A key point in how well Maul would fight would depend on if you mean his younger self, adult self or older self as that in and of itself would determine the full range of abilities and skills he could use.
Darth Maul is a pretty stagnant character skill-wise though. He didn't really improve between Phantom Menace and Clone Wars (on account of being cut in half) and even after that, I think me beating him so easily on Tatooine is even more proof that he never improve by much.
Dooku holding his own against Yoda for a near minute right after defeating Anakin And Obi Wan all by himself mind you is a better feat then Mauls duel against Sidious both when he had back up from Savage and when he was left to fend for himself that feat alone puts Dookus powers and skills above Maul
Did Dooku have a prime age? He might have better stamina in his younger years but his force powes have increased in his elderly years when he fought Anakin.
In my opinion, it all comes down to Dooku's old age. This is the one and only reason that we even consider who would be better. Dooku was in his 80's more or less, and keep in mind that the dark side carries a great toll on the body, especially a hunan body. I think that, if Dooku was in his 50s even the chosen one would find it extremely difficult to overpower him...
I think the main difference is; When Maul was defeated in episode 1, his power was still growing. When Dooku was defeated in episode 3, his power was waning. Maul was still young and largely self-taught. Dooku was trained at a early age by Yoda and it wasn't like how we see Yoda teaching the kids in the prequals, he was one-on-one trained like Qui-gon did with Obi-wan or Obi-wan with Anakin. Dooku's understanding of form 2 is probably at levels close to if not succeeding the ancient jedi whoever it was that invented it. I believe that Dooku started to lose his power after falling to the dark side. Dooku turned, not because of allure of power which many so often do; he turned because he pointed out flaws within the order and was betrayed by it. Not only was he plagued with an aging body, but a broken spirit as well. Darth Maul's 5 years of whatever a sith calls "training" can't compare to Dooku's decades of formal training in the jedi order, the quality of which being higher than what we see during the prequals because the order was in a much healthier state. Funny, I imagine the underlying zeitgeist of the order is probably reflected within the life cycle of Count Dooku. Right up until they meet physically. When both are slain by Anakin. I wonder if that was intentional?
Maul trained under Sidious himself for all his life (20 years) before TPM. It is stated in a canon book that Maul is more powerful that Dooku and less powerful than Vader. Also, I agree that Dooku's strenght and knowledge of Form 2 is extensive, but Maul would win nonetheless. Sidious himself taught Maul ALL 7 forms of lightsaber combat and personally trained Maul in the seventh. Also, I do not believe that Maul's strenght in the Force is less than Dooku is. Maul's power is stated was in between Sidious and Mother Talzin (who was the most powerful night sister alive). Maul is a top tier duelist and the only thing that made him lose is that Lucas believed that a red and black horned dude with a dualbladed red lightsaber was too distracting and people needed to focus solely on his protagonist Anakin. Those are his words lol, Maul basically got ditched because he was too cool
@@faith518 Maul was said to have the potential to be more powerful then Talzin but he never got there even during the Clone Wars and even Rebels he never reached that potential being defeated by Obi Wan on Naboo robbed him of Sidious wanting anything more to do with him Maul may be a more skilled lightsaber combatant and unarmed combat expert then Dooku in Canon at least but nowhere is he the better force user or as powerful a example of this is when Dooku gives Sidious his strength and Maul gives Talzin his strength both force wise and Sidious gained better ground and this was a extra weakened and injured Dooku mind you yet him helping Sidious beat Maul helping Talzin showing Dooku as the more powerful of the two yeah
I find this underestimation of Dooku... Disturbing *Force choke* Sidious liked playing his apprentices lile fiddles. All three were inducted into the Sith believing they were THE ultimate Sith Apprentice. Not just a stepping stone to the next best agent of the true Dark Lord, Sidious. As such, Palpatine would not have held back on the training of any of them, lest he risk them catching on to his shenanigans and trying to murder him. The novel Plagueis outlines how Maul trained under Palpabru, and to my knowledge no similar account of Dooku's apprenticeship exists. However, we can infer much. Dooku was already a dark sider when Maul was the official number 2. It is quite possible Palpatine intended to switch Maul for a more useful apprentice (Tyranus) to unleash the next stage of the plan, the Clone Wars. Regardless of intent, Palpatine did switch him out of necessity at least. Between 1 and 2, a whole decade passes. A decade in which Darth Tyranus, already as powerful as the greatest Masters of the order, would have reaped the benefits of many Sith secrets taught him by Palpatine. By the time the Clone Wars break out, he can already hold his own against Yoda. And by the time the Clone Wars end, Anakin has become powerful enough to replace Dooku on his own merit. Over the course of the War, Dooku fought and killed many Jedi, fighting the Chosen One and his Jedi Master many times and always either defeating one, both, or forcing a draw. Darth Maul did not outlast his first confrontation with the Jedi. And after his return, he had some magic shenanigans with the legs Talzin creates for him, and the help of the hulking Savage another quirky product of nightsister magics. Without those advantages, he doesn't amount to the top tier in my opinion. Ahsoka could defeat him on a 1v1 duel, and she is not top tier either
The only problem with the whole power thing is that Yoda is very old and is still very powerful. The same applies to Sidious. The age has little effort when it comes to power. The body does play a role, but we have seen what the force can do to enhance the body, aka Yoda and Sidious. In the third movie, it was not that Count Dooku was weaker, but that Anakin was far stronger and a seasoned fighter. Also, Anakin was using the dark side to get the upper hand. By the time he was fighting Dooku in his final fight, Anakin was up with the top duelists, is very powerful and using the dark side to get a boost. Count Dooku was the same power, when he first fought Anakin. Anakin just topped him over the years of growing.
even through clone wars Dave said maul didn’t reach his peak till he got his double blade back and that’s during order 66. then he proceeded to get stuck in rebels so maul never got his prime back until 66 and he was stuck getting old in rebels yet he did so much
Dooku is such an interesting character. You can see he is a sith lord, but it's very rare for him to let his anger out, he's always so elegant and controlled. You can feel that he is different from sith like Maul, he isn't controlled by his anger, it's the other way around
I've said it a thousand times, I truly wish Dooku had become the Dark Lord of the Sith. Cuz with him as the head of the Order of the Sith Lord's, they would've had something they'd never had before, class!
Duku always frightened me the most. Such a confident, powerful character who absolutely projected his superiority over you with body language alone. Just scared me to the core as a kid
maul is the most overrated light weight of star wars, he failed to contend with obi wan on florrum and a padawan like ahsoka (she was basically a youngling with only two years of training as a padawan)
Same man same. As a kid maul was scary to me the black cloak and mystery behind his presence, and he was a ferocious fighter. But Dooku was lowkey more intimidating because he was an older guy who had the most confident stature and way of talking. Its like he knew he was going to win before the battle started and it didn't feel like blind arrogance, but a true knowledge of combat and out maneuvering his enemies. Seeing him take down anakin and obi wan so easily was frightening. It was like he never showed fear until he lost to anakin in episode 3.
Kinda shows the lack-of-depth of this channel, tbh. They care only about a modicum of consistency within an individual video, and not about accuracy and consistency regarding the canon as a whole.
@@jeremywashburn562 Who do you think is more powerful, CT-1103, A clone trooper who was at the battle of Geonosis or TD-110, the stormtrooper that was mind tricked by Obi-wan?
Maul had speed, power, and aggression on his side, Dooku on the other hand had patience and outright finesse. Maul fought like a runaway freight train, Dooku kind of fought like a pack of wolves by sizing up his enemy or enemies and waiting for the right time to go for the kill.
As a martial artist I know that vigilant focus defeats passionate rage every time. Question for you....I have heard some say that Dooku deliberately lost, or was told to lose to Anakin in episode 3. Do you, or any other commenters believe Anakin fair and square defeated Dooku or was the duel thrown by Dooku?
I think he was going kinda easy per instruction but got caught off guard by how good Anakin got, he turned up the volume then but was so off guard he lost. He also didnt think he was going to get killed either. If he knew his life was actually on the line it probably wouldve been a different duel.
He was letting Annakin win as ordered by that twat Siddious. What Siddious didn’t tell Doku, his then apprentice, was that he would allow Annakin to take his head. You could see the look on his face as Siddious said to kill him. He got scammed, plain and simple.
I think he was told to go all out against Anakin in Episode 3 and that duel was his final test to confirm he wanted Anakin as his apprentice. Only special instruction was to isolate Anakin from Obi-Wan so Palps could properly gauge Anakins strength
When watching multiple of your videos to the topic of dueling skills and the like in a row, it seems that basically any character who was able to use the force and who wasn't the Jedi Librarian or some deranged, failed clone has been one of the greatest duelists of their time. 🤔🍻
Didn’t Kenobi also duel Windu to a stalemate in one of the novels? I remember there being a whole thing about how Windu could never use Vapaad effectively against Kenobi because Kenobi’s style was all defense (as we know, he’s THE master of soresu, according to Windu). Kenobi had no aggression, no dark side energy for Windu to be able to channel back at him… So they just dueled endlessly until Windu gave up.
star wars is cool because it's like a rock paper scissors thing. obi wan was basically the worst person for maul to fight. it's like windu beat palpatine and palpatine beats Yoda but Yoda beats windu. and plo koon could beat Yoda but I doubt he beats sideous
@@corvoattano7430 very true except in star wars you can be more powerful by just using blind rage and hatred which will most likely result in getting you ass kicked in real life
In the movies Dooku was much more interesting than Maul. One had much more dialogue, the other was mainly a menacing presence. Dooku proved his force power and skills with the light saber. Maul let still a padawan Obi-wan Kenobi best him.
@@PDog725 No it has nothing to do with me liking Sidious. It has everything to do with the facts on the ground which would back up my claims so no you don't get it. But that's OK.
@@yungpo9853 yeah dude, completely agree. Did you read the latest Darth Vader issue? Darth sidious just showed another tier of power. He had this like ability to control a kyber Crystal the size of a mountain, and how much energy it output. Just himself. Also he was able to mind control two giant monsters at once, and then overrule the mind control of Darth Vader, and then make a giant monster kill itself. And this is all canon! All the stuff that is now Legends, he didn't even crazier things. Like the black hole stuff. Honestly palpatine is so powerful it's insane. Which only adds to his "loss" in return the Jedi (which is a little soured by the rising Skywalker) because after all that power, dude still lost due to his overconfidence in his hold over vader. Yeah bro, it's pretty insane.
Dooku's fighting style is just more effective. All he needs is one opening, which he can either wait for or create systemetically. This allows him to defeat duelists with the same or even greater skill than himself. Maul uses acrobatics and power which demolishes less skilled opponents, but can be countered and looked through by more passive and insightfull opponents such as Kenobi, Ahsoka, and honestly a lot of other fighters. I believe even Fisto and Plo Koon would defeat him because of this, they would all exploit Maul's overconfidence. That Dooku would defeat Maul is a given. Maul's skill is also his downfall, since he knows he's a better fighter he fights without considering the possibility of losing. If you don't consider how one may defeat you, you're not gonna anticipate the defeating blow. See duel with Obi-Wan in TPM and with Ahsoka in Mandalore, and again against Obi-Wan in Rebels. Three examples of this. Anakin makes the same mistake in his duel against Obi-Wan by the way.
Obi Wan Vs Count Dooku: "Qui-Gon thought you that move didn't he?" "Yes He did, why?" "BECAUSE I'M THE ONE WHO THOUGHT IT TOO HIM" *Palpatine laughs in the background*
That's actually kind of a tricky question. Because they are both more powerful than each other in specific ways. If they weren't fighting to the death. I think it would be a draw. But if they were fighting to the death. I think dooku would have taken the win. However with just one little mistake. Mall would when the engagement. Just ask qui-gon. He got distracted because when he turned up the juice. He had a vision of Anakin and therefore Darth Vader. And was momentarily distracted. Which was all it took for them all to win. Great analysis. Great video.! 👍
I think Maul would absolutely be able to beat, or atleast hold his own, against Dooku if he had ever learned to not be so cocky. It lost him his legs, and eventually his life, but he would've been far stronger had he not gotten so cocky as to lost half his body and never learned his lesson. Dooku mostly beats him because of his ability to stay focused, on point and maintain precise form. Maul is wild and violent and isn't precise, which is why one should be very careful when going up against him because he's so hard to keep up with, but with Dooku, it's harder to handle because he can so easily pick you apart if you're not careful.
maul is the most overrated light weight of star wars, he failed to contend with obi wan on florrum and a padawan like ahsoka (she was basically a youngling with only two years of training as a padawan)
Dooku as a Jedi Master has faced a superior fighter in Mace Windu and was never once bested by him in there real life prepared lightsaber sparring matches Mace uses Juyo just like Maul does and took it to the next level with Vaapad and even before Vaapad Mace was a more finessed, formable, and refined form seven user then Maul and this was Jedi Master Dooku around TPM Circa who never got beat by Mace even once and even if he did Mace is still a superior form seven user to Maul and a superior force user as is Dooku yeah.
Good Dooku is always going to be my favorite up there with Malgus, Malak, Sion, and Vader. Out of the movies Dooku remains my all time favorite. Still love Maul too but Christopher Lee is elegant and superb and made Dooku what he is.
Yeah, I think one thing a lot of people mess up when talking about verses is that sometimes they make it seem like because one character is more powerful than the other, the other character is trash. Thanks for appreciating everyone!!!!!
Dooku obviously wins.. BUT, if we were given the true third trilogy that George Lucas wanted, where darth Maul returns, then I think Maul would have leveled up big time by then. And Luke and Maul would have had the best Star Wars duel of all time. If only Disney didn’t screw us all and write some BS about an overpowered girl for feminism and a pointless black character with no relevance to show they aren’t racist.
Dooku all the way, you forgot to mention his skill and magnitude in wielding offensive force powers, i just imagine how strong he would have been in his prime with the dark side as his ally
Defensive force powers too he was able to effortlessly tank and redirect a force push and wave from Anakin, Mace, And even effortlessly dodge a force wave from both Anakin And Obi Wan at the same time
I don't disagree that Dooku was certainly powerful, but I do differ in opinion that, given the same level of training for the same amount of time, Maul would far outclass Dooku. Dooku's unwillingness to be flexible in his fighting style is a huge tactical weakness and in his older age, you can see it takes significantly more effort to use those Force powers. I mean, look at Vader and Sidious when they Force Throw. Practically instant, even in older age and with much greater energy compared to a single one of Dooku's Throws, live action or animated. Unfortunately, not a great argument on Maul's behalf since he channels his Force abilities into his physical prowess much more than most, but even with Dooku's Force capabilities, they were noticeably waning in Episodes 2 and 3 and wouldn't really grant much advantage over Maul's physical speed and strength. At this point, no one had really experimented with Force defensive techniques against a lightsaber, and even if Dooku thought to, there's no telling if he would be strong enough to thwart Maul's raw strength and agility.
@@JWaltz91 In Legends Dooku as a Padawan was able to effortlessly telekenetically lift a plant that was a hundred pounds saying that it felt like lifting a leaf and he won force tournaments and competitions based off of telekinesis, force barriers, and force shields and he was the only one Yoda put some effort into beating that is how skilled and powerful Dooku was with those force powers just as a Padawan and as we know his powers grew from there to Jedi Knight to Jedi Master to Sith Lord in Legends in a midichlorian book it said that Dooku had a higher midichlorian count then Mace, Maul, Shaak Ti, Obi Wan, Aayla Secura, Kit Fisto, Santee Tin, Agen Koler, and everyone else except for Sidious, Yoda, And The Skywalkers
so many people always underrate dooku but he really was one the best fighters he had some of the best shows of his skill in clone wars of course. i loved the fight when ventress & the night sisters went to assassinate him when he was sleeping, they poisioned & basically blinded him and he was still fighting with such focus feeling where their energy was even 3 on 1. mother talzin said the two warriors to go with her were the 2 most powerful she had too she also made them invisible in case they couldnt poison him i guess and to infiltirate his castle without being detected. but still they failed. earlier in the episode before going back to mother talzin ventress was slightly injured & didnt do bad on her own against anakin And obi wan, at one point she almost had them both in a force choke until dooku had his ship open fire on the ship they were on & she dropped them. but she clearly was not a match for dooku so i think anyone comparing obi wan with maul should be taking that into account when saying dooku would not of been better than him or maul. only reason he never beat anakin is because sidious wouldnt let him. sadly he just didnt realise why until it was too late I would love to see a story one day like the point of view ones they have done in the past. have a point of view from inside dookus own mind from being a jedi all the way through changing his attitude & falling to the darkside to his end that would be interesting
Dooku so powerful, he made Anakin believed he killed him but truth is that he only force project that scene so Dooku could go back to Tolkien's universe and work back as Gandalf to kill the Balrog
@@orin81 No he states Maul was a loss because had Maul not been crippled dead or and alive he would of had bigger plans for him but after Maul got handicapped even if Sidious discovered immediately afterwards that Maul was still breathing he would still want nothing to do with Maul after a humiliating defeat.
@Joe Bide nice take, i never knew that form 7 counters form 2. Probably because of the lack of momentum form 2 would bring over time. but in my eyes dooku would be too composed to loose to maul. doesnt it say dooku was one of if not the best 1on1 dualist?
I mean, when you take force powers out of the equation, you can make a case for dooku being the greatest duelist perhaps ever. A true fencer and supreme 1v1 combatant
I loved how Christopher Lee played dooku in the prequels. It's also a throwback to his previous rôles, in which he played Count Dracula in the Hammer movies from the 70s. Another famous Star Wars character and actor, Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin), played in these movies as well, as professor Van Hellsing.
I think maul could win. Maybe not in a straight duel, but you have to remember; maul especially in later appearances was not against going with underhanded means to win.
Maul did beat and Capture both Dooku and Grievous. He also fought both Mace and Aayla Secura simultaneously and was winning. I want to know more, had Dooku and Maul teamed together, if they could have beat Sidious.
Fun fact. The guy who played Dooku was in a metal band at the age of 93 ;D He did stuff with Rhapsody of Fire and Charlemagne. Christopher Lee's life was INSANE. Seriously everyone should look this up
In Legends Dooku clearly was the one with more potential Plagueis noticed it as did Sidious but Maul was still very useful as a weapon like Grievous was in Canon Maul was the one with more potential but lost it once cut in half and missing a decade of training even with Talzins magical juice he was not as powerful as Dooku Maul by himself was not a threat to Sidious but Maul having the aid of Talzin and Savage was yeah
1:09 LOL we had There was a list in a book that listed a few sith it ranked maul above dooku. In the clone wars (show) why do you think sidius didnt sent dooku to deal with maul and savage? Because Maul was superior.
@@gbugsyhunt1921 because Dooku was the one who usually taking care of missions like that AND in trips like that there is always a chance for sidius to expose himself. Also, in the ROTS novelization, Kenobi single-handedly gave Dooku a lot of trouble aboard the invisible hand when he switched from form IV to form III… It took Dooku using that dark side energy summon ability (and probably some help through the force from Palps across the room tbh) to be able to knock Kenobi out of the fight. That way, he could just focus on Skywalker. But without that, Kenobi had become defensively unbreakable, and Dooku was questioning whether he could actually take him down, lightsaber-to-lightsaber…
hey so if maul stayed with palpatine and become a true sith lord he could have been more powerful than dooku or if darth plagueis killed palpatine he could have trained maul
No, he was already a true Sith Lord, or at the very least Palps wouldn’t have trained him more anyway. His training was complete, but he was arrogant and vengeful, which allowed for the weaker Obi-Wan to first defeat him and throughout the Clone Wars surpass him in skill and strength. Maul is very skilled, but his personality is what’s holding him back. He can’t become more powerful with training under a master, he would’ve had to learn that on his own, but he never did.
Not tryna be shitty with this by any means, but Windu is the obvious choice there, right? Windu would beat the breaks off of Obi Wan. Lol. No hate towards Obi Wan, as I love him dearly as a character but Windu is just so far above Obi Wan’s league as far as combat is concerned, not to mention being able to use shatter point
@@ChrisMenendez609 that’s what I’m saying! Lol. Total beast. I find Obi Wan to be an expert strategist more so than an expert combatant. Not that he isn’t skilled, but it’s well known that he is a defensive fighter, had issues passing the trials, and I wouldn’t go as far to say he got lucky with Maul, but was really only ever put up against someone as powerful as Maul’s skill level, and barely got out of that situation alive. When he fought against Dooku, he got clapped both times and had to be saved by two different Jedi as a result. Lol.
@@ChariotFighter yeah facts man obi wan is my second favorite Star Wars character behind Ashoka!! I love his wittiness and everything but it’s just simple facts that Windu would win... I still love Obi tho
Maul was taught the basics of all seven forms but mastered: Ataru, Niman, and Juyo. Not to mention he was also proficient in Jar'Kai and Teras Kasi. A great example of Maul’s abilities, were when he took on both Mace Windu and Aayla Secura at the same time, kicking Aayla in the face and blocking a strike from Windu simultaneously; their battle was cut short when a mandalorian fired a missile at the three, but Maul was the only one who jumped out of the way in time. The two Jedi Council Members were incapacitated by the blast, while Maul left unscathed. Maul also overpowered General Grievous twice. The first was when Maul Force Repulsed Grievous’ droid’s away, and then tackled him. The second was when they were in a duel with each other, and Maul Force pushed him out of their fight. Maul was calculating, he would study his opponent before actually engaging them. In some cases, he would examine the location of the upcoming duel and determine the best area for him to kill them. He would train for days on end without food or water to craft his style. Qui-Gon Jinn, one of the Jedi's greatest duelists, and somebody who was trained by Count Dooku, was completely overpowered by Maul during their first duel on Tatooine. On Naboo, Qui-Gon even stated how Maul was so confident and how he was in complete control of the fight. He successfully separated Obi-Wan from Qui-Gon during their duel, even defending against both of them, two of the most skilled Jedi at that time, with little trouble. Maul lured the two to a location of his own choosing during the duel, and the Jedi were helpless against that. Maul was also very disciplined, as shown through his meditation, construction of his saber staff, his pain tolerance, and his mastery of Juyo. . Darth Maul lasted 30 seconds in a one-on-one duel with Sidious, who killed three Jedi Council Members in 10 seconds. Maul completely toyed with, and overwhelmed, three inquisitors in 30 seconds as well, forcing them to retreat, he ended up being responsible for their deaths. . In the Son of Dathomir comics, which is canon, you get to really see how calculating and strategic Maul was. He toyed with multiple different Magna Guards and became an inspiring and heroic figure for the Mandalorians. His strategic plans resulted in the capture and defeat of both Count Dooku and General Grievous, both of which were at a massive advantage and were both brilliant tacticians themselves. So through strategy, Maul defeated both Dooku and Grievous, despite the fact that their army greatly outnumbered his own. Maul brutalized Kenobi and many other Jedi over the course of The Clone Wars. He rose from the ashes and formed The Shadow Collective, a criminal organization made of: Death Watch, the Pyke Syndicate, the Black Son Clan, the Hutts, and the Night Brothers. He created an army in little time, on his own, one that could rival the Separatist and Republic. It was crushed by both and rebel Mandalorians, not to mention Sidious himself. It took a lot to crush Maul's forces, but that wasn't even his end. He then constructed a new criminal empire called the Crimson Dawn, one we know very little about in canon continuity. Maul never cared for learning things like Force Lightning, because he considered it cowardly, and so he focused his powers in the Force in other ways. Hell the guy was born with Sith Eyes on Dathomir. He understands the ancient Sith ways, Nightsister Magic, holocrons, If anything, Maul isn't over exaggerated, he's under exaggerated. Considering that Dooku was killed because he couldn't keep up with Anakin's speed and strength, I believe Maul could beat him. Maul is a master of Form 7, which relies on aggression, speed, control, acrobatics, and unpredictability. Dooku is a master of Form 2, Makashi, which is designed specifically for blade-to-blade combat, and had great precision. However, he was slow and predictable, which Maul would take advantage of. Dooku's only advantage would be Force Lightening, but Maul would be able to tank it. Yes, you can argue that it hurt him in the Son of Dathomir comics, but Maul also escaped the prison afterwards with no difficulty, even saying that he'd become indifferent to pain. One could argue that because Dooku bested Obi-Wan, then he must be superior to Maul, right? Wrong, that argument doesn't work with Star Wars, here's an example for why: Dooku defeated Obi-Wan, Anakin defeated Dooku, Obi-Wan defeated Anakin. Also, in The Phantom Menace, Maul defeated both Qui Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi with relative ease. Maul only lost to Obi-Wan due to his pride, giving Obi-Wan time to kill him. Maul was never shown to have this kind of pride again. Then there was Obi-Wan taking on both Maul and Savage. There are a few reasons why that fight played out the way it did. First, Maul had no difficulty facing off against Obi-Wan before they entered the tunnels, and Savage easily defeated Adi Gallia. Obi-Wan didn't defeat them, he was forced to retreat into the tunnels, and merely SURVIVED them. He was fueled by anger after Gallia's death, as shown when he tried to killed Savage right after. Obi-Wan also used two lightsabers during that duel to take the brothers on. Another big factor that contributed to Obi-Wan performance was his mastery of Ataru and Soresu. Defense and acrobatics. Obi-Wan wouldn't have defeated them had their fight continued, he could only last a long time against them. Maul broke Kenobi's Force Wall pretty easily and slammed against a wall, where he was trapped in a blade lock and visibly struggling. He only escaped because he was in a good position to kick in Savage's knee, and from there he took his arm. Kenobi then jumped at Maul, who Force pushed him farther into the tunnels. Maul had to retreat so that he could help his injured brother. They only lost when an army of pirates started shooting at them as they ran away, that had nothing to do with Kenobi. Then there's Maul's defeat by Kenobi in Rebels. Honestly, I thought that fight was kind of bullshit, but there are some factors that need to be taken into consideration. During that time, Kenobi had been growing in power on Tatooine, while Maul was being hunted by Inquisitors and possibly even Vader. Maul wasn't able to develop, but Kenobi was. . Two incidents in The Clone Wars also indicate how Maul was much greater when compared to Obi-Wan. When Obi-Wan encountered Maul for the first time in the show, he was completely overpowered by Savage within seconds, whom Maul beat within seconds. Then during their one-on-one fight, Maul brutalized Kenobi, who even said that he was outmatched. Then when Obi-Wan saw Maul on Mandalore, Maul just pulled him with the Force and disarmed him immediately. Anyway, it really comes down to a coin flip for who would win: Dooku or Maul? But I'm gonna have to side with Maul for the reasons I've already stated.
lol Dooku would embarrass Maul just like He did to Obi Wan who Maul can’t beat. Lol Maul lost to young Ahsoka that’s all you need to know about him. Dooku would play around with him.😂
I believe that Maul is actually the more powerful of the two. Maul is in canon stated to be below Sidious and Vader in terms of lightsaber skill. Of the 5 most skilled duelists Vader is on top, then Sidious, then Maul, then Dooku then Ventress.
Oh yeah I read that book where it's stated Maul is more powerful that Dooku. And I agree, we never saw the extent of Maul's power in the movies, but it's clear that during the end of the clone wars he was one of the most powerful Sith lords alive
I can buy that but I really think it’s evident that Lucas didn’t have much of this in mind when he made the original trilogy at all. In the original trilogy Emperor Palpatine outright condescendingly mocks Luke’s lightsaber as the weapon of a Jedi, as if it’s totally beneath him. I seriously doubt in 1977, or 1983 with Return of the Jedi that Lucas even envisioned Palpatine ever using a light saber in a fight, but that Vader would as a former Jedi turned to the dark side.
That is lightsaber skills not force powers in the force Dooku outclasses Maul as shown in Son Of Dathormir how a weakened Dookus aiding Sidious beat a prime Maul aiding Talzin in a force lightning battle and team Sidious won so that alone shows Dooku is more powerful then Maul as well as Dooku tanking force pushes and waves from Anakin and Anakin And Obi Wan yeah one on one with no Savage, Asajj, Or Talzin backing Maul and no one backing Dooku in a force battle Dooku would win Maul had more potential yeah but he was not close to reaching it due to being beaten on Naboo and losing a long time of training from Sidious yeah
@Thunder Bolt Ahsoka? Absolutely. Maul could have rekt her. Dooku? Idk man. Mauls my favourite but I think dooku is slightly better in lightsaber combat
Maybe but was not going to meet at after his embarrassing losing on Naboo I doubt Sidious would accept a failure like that especially since Maul became crippled yeah
Dooku was a great duelist, but never did well with a rageful opponent. Anakin beat Dooku when he got angry. I think Maul at his angriest would've beat Dooku.
Wasn’t Dooku the second beat fighter in the Jedi temple so that means a lot he can hold he’s on against raging fighters he got 80 years plus training oh yeah she can hold his own
Shalom was being pushed over to the dark side by the time of their duel. The chosen one who is turning to the dark side is a whole different ball game to maul, who didn't even finish his training as a sith.
@@timurjack8773 In lightsaber skill maybe but not with the force he also said Dooku was the more powerful of the two Maul never reached the potential he could have because of his failure on Naboo
Raw power and physically Maul gets it but his arrogance is a weakness he never conquers but Dooku's power is refined and controled and he lacks the arrogance of Maul making him substantially more dangerous in a duel not to mention Dooku's force powers are more sinister and refined
As Dooku himself puts it, "Maul had been an animal. A skilled animal admittedly, but nothing more than a beast." He was a blunt instrument not designed to think outside his orders, which explains why Maul was so consistently a failure when he tried to steer events.

When Brit Queen granted him knighthood, she knew that this time - it wasn't just a fancy title (looking at u Elton John)
His fencing style the most awesome bc: 1) it looks very elegant. 2) it closest to what a real saber/rapier fencing looks like
China: We have a large military
Britain: Sir Lee, could I have a moment?
Yes. Chuck Norris wishes he was Christopher Lee. But, Lee didn't do the swordwork in the Prequels - his face was CGI'ed in. While he was probably a badass with a sword in his prime, he was already in his 80s and they used an expert swordsman in his place for his dueling scenes.
Britain had a literak sith lord
The best Sir Christopher Lee story is LOTR, when Peter Jackson said oh when he gets stabbed in the back he makes this sound and Christopher Lee said "that's not the sound someone makes when you shove a knife in them" .........😮

I think maul is just less refined in his force power and did more strength based feats like taking down the ship with ahsoka and rex. Dooku knew exactly how much to use and where to focus it

@@daonecapton0126 yeah and I love that about him but that's one of the main factors in him being weaker than dooku

@@timurjack8773 the episode 2 i mean, and how did he admit it with his head on coruscants landing runway

I agree with you on this one!
I havent watched the video but one of my favorite character is Dooku his whole character and form is elegant
Yep dooku is stronger just as i thought
Maul is stronger
I agree. Lucas actually intended for maul to be the main antagonist of episodes 7-9 but that changed when he sold it then we saw maul die in rebels.

@@grandadmiralzaarin4962 that statement contradicts itself when mace literally defeated dooku’s SITH master ...
Dooku would hesitate to kill Obi-wan he wouldn't with Maul.
Dooku also had achieved advanced manipulation of the Force. In the clone wars, he started to learn Sith Alchemy.
Dooku was to my recollection the only Sith who wasn't a Palpatine to use force lightning in the live action.

@@jsbcody yeah, you were completely right. I did some calculations, and Anakin's cybernetic hand was able to hold easily (!) 500 lb. And what sucks even more, is that palpatine to a certain degree let Darth Vader have relatively bad cybernetics.
I like them both, can't decide, they're both great!
Count Dooku's name constantly comes up as such an accomplished jedi. Seeing more of his story and adventures as a jedi and his fall into the dark side would be amazing. That could be a 3 part epic in itself-his young adventures, his rise to elite, and his fall from grace. It sounds like a Skywalker story but could be epic nonetheless. Even animated as a side story would be cool.
I agree. Dooku's fall would be a far more compelling a story than the fall of Anakin.
@@marvin2983 I don't know about that, you're pretty much saying it would be better than George Lucas' 6 Star Wars movies lol he is an interesting character but no it wouldn't be more compelling than Anakin's story. His story is literally the 6 Star Wars films
I think Maul would try to intimidate Dooku with his saber but Dook would just ignore it and rush Maul
Actually I think it'd be the other way around. Maul was more of a rusher while Dooku would play mind games
Maul would beat his chest and growl while Dooku would just dodge all of his attacks with graceful and minimal movement.
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi here is a riddle: Doku beats Obi-Wan & Anakin, several times, but later loses to Anakin, who loses to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Dooku in his prime vs anakin in his prime would be dope to watch
well Dooku would probably win since anakins prime is Vader with his Suit that is weak to lightning
@@georgyekimov4577 Fair enough
Did Dooku have a prime age? He might have better stamina in his younger years but his force powes have increased in his elderly years when he fought Anakin.
In my opinion, it all comes down to Dooku's old age. This is the one and only reason that we even consider who would be better. Dooku was in his 80's more or less, and keep in mind that the dark side carries a great toll on the body, especially a hunan body. I think that, if Dooku was in his 50s even the chosen one would find it extremely difficult to overpower him...
Imagine if they worked together they would be unstoppable
Disturbing *Force choke*
Sidious liked playing his apprentices lile fiddles.

I think if Darth maul had a more calm mental state i think he would of been closer to Dooku.
Maybe he wanted to lose so he could see if the prophecy was true.

Kenobi had no aggression, no dark side energy for Windu to be able to channel back at him… So they just dueled endlessly until Windu gave up.

Dooku thinks that maul is an ignorant beast
Maul thinks that Dooku is a Sith pretender

@@ChrisMenendez609 ⚡️FACTS⚡️
Maul lost to Ashoka
@@gbugsyhunt1921 Maul wasn't trying to kill Ashoka and was severely hindered during the fight.
Also Vader failed to kill Ashoka
@@gbugsyhunt1921 Dooku was stomped by Quinlan Vos
lol Dooku would embarrass Maul just like He did to Obi Wan who Maul can’t beat. Lol Maul lost to young Ahsoka that’s all you need to know about him. Dooku would play around with him.😂
i completely agree
I believe that Maul is actually the more powerful of the two. Maul is in canon stated to be below Sidious and Vader in terms of lightsaber skill. Of the 5 most skilled duelists Vader is on top, then Sidious, then Maul, then Dooku then Ventress.
Oh yeah I read that book where it's stated Maul is more powerful that Dooku. And I agree, we never saw the extent of Maul's power in the movies, but it's clear that during the end of the clone wars he was one of the most powerful Sith lords alive
Damn straight I'm more powerful
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh hahahahahahah!!!
Makes it even more impressive that ahsoka is said to be on count dooku's power level by the time of Rebels
That’s bullshit
No way
That’s terrible writing
@Thunder Bolt Ahsoka? Absolutely. Maul could have rekt her. Dooku? Idk man. Mauls my favourite but I think dooku is slightly better in lightsaber combat
@Thunder Bolt true
Excellent sir! Your channel is a light to me in these dark times. Well done🤘SKOL!
I still think that maul had a lot of potential who he didn't used
In the game he could use red force lightning, and was more energetic and younger than any sith in the movies
The chosen one who is turning to the dark side is a whole different ball game to maul, who didn't even finish his training as a sith.
yup, the son of dathomir comic book writer said maul beats dooku 7 times out of 10
@@timurjack8773 In lightsaber skill maybe but not with the force he also said Dooku was the more powerful of the two Maul never reached the potential he could have because of his failure on Naboo
"You are about to experience true swordsmanship"
Raw power and physically Maul gets it but his arrogance is a weakness he never conquers but Dooku's power is refined and controled and he lacks the arrogance of Maul making him substantially more dangerous in a duel not to mention Dooku's force powers are more sinister and refined
As Dooku himself puts it, "Maul had been an animal. A skilled animal admittedly, but nothing more than a beast."
He was a blunt instrument not designed to think outside his orders, which explains why Maul was so consistently a failure when he tried to steer events.

@@grandadmiralzaarin4962 In Legends Maul was held in lower regard to Dooku by both Plagueis And Sidious even before Dooku became a Sith in Canon it is the opposite but since Maul got embarrassingly beat on Naboo by Obi Wan after that even if Sidious knew he was alive after that Sidious would wash his hands clean of a failed apprentice like that yeah
Maul could win as long as he doesn’t let his over confidence get the best of him and don’t use his previous fights as an example cause he’s won and lost fights it all comes down to plot or the main creator George himself stating who would win other than that this is alllllllll opinions
They both became more powerful than we could possibly imagine.
Yeah, some of this is cap. There’s no way Maul almost beat Palpatine. In Clons Wars, Palpatine made a fool out of Maul with no effort.
