i think this is a misinterpretation. i never saw anything implying anakin thought they doubted his power, that they were holding him back yes, but i only ever heard him mention them doubting his power right before kenobi operated on him. It always felt like he was struggling with the jedi doubting him and his character, not his power. Idk, could be completely wrong, but at least the movies gave that impression to me
Having just read Outbound Flight, I wonder if they worried about Anakin being as much of a problem as Joruus C'baoth. We know from that book that Windu sent both him and Kenobi to observe and temper his mission. We see that Anakin is waaaay enamoured of his power and “initiative”, and we see Jorus lose his freaking mind and turn to the dark side. I know timelines of authorship and storyline often don’t intersect, but this was a major wake-up call for the Jedi even amidst what was unknown about the mission. A reason to be gun-shy about emotionally unstable Jedi, 100%!!
I agree that he wasn't ready, but I don't agree with how they handled it. I believe Obi-wan and/or Yoda should've spoken with Anakin privately after the Council made their decision or, at the very least, been the ones to lead the conversation instead of Windu. Regardless, they should've explained their reasoning and offered to help him on his flaws instead of just sitting there and letting Anakin stew in his anger
They should've explained what Anakin needed to have to earn the rank of master and tell him that Palpatine has no right to use him to try gaining influence over the council.
I feel like they wanted him to learn and grow, with them being someone he can come to and humbly ask the questions he had. Giving him the answers might not help him grow past his fears
Anakin "stewing in this anger" was a CLEAR sign he was not ready to be a Jedi master. Obi wan was clearly embarrassed for him after his emotional outburst in front of the whole council.
I really like that last part you added about the council not honoring an appointment to master not because of his power but because of his maturity, emotional fragility and his inability to follow the rules. I like that you phrased it as these are the things that he needed to work on for them to actually be sincere in offering him the rank of master. I think it makes me reflect on my own personal life in things I am trying to work on and improve instead of highlighting my own strengths. I think it’s important for all people to work on the the things they are not as good at or struggle to overcome whether it be hobbies or habits in order to become a more well rounded individual and gain more concrete master of your own life
Here is my take...He would have never been ready due to how he conflicted he was about the Jedi code and the council. Also, Obi Wan knew about his relationship, attachment to Padme, hence he may not have ever approved of Anakin being a Jedi Master. If Anakin didn't turn to the dark side, he would have more attachments, to his children and family responsibilities. Would have the council found out? Lots of what ifs here...
I know I'm going off the script of this video but I can understand why Anakin wanted the Rank of Master but I've never understood why Obi Wan Kenobi wanted to be on the Jedi Council even tho his own Master Qui Gon Jinn denied the seat many times if it was me being trained my alarm bells would be going
It would have been amazing if Yoda would’ve sat down with Anakin and explained to him why he wasn’t ready to be a Jedi master. If Yoda would’ve explained to Anakin, what he needs to work on, what he needs to focus on, what he needs to improve on, I think this would’ve been a very important moment in Anakin’s development and would’ve created a sense of understanding between the both of them; Jedi Grand Master to Chosen One, about what it truly takes and why he wasn’t ready. BUT that he was fully capable of becoming one and that the council believed in his abilities to do so
I think if Yoda had actually talked to Anakin after the meeting and explained why he voted against making Anakin a master and that he did want Anakin to eventually get the rank, things could have gone very differently. Namely, Anakin may not have fallen to the dark side.
Also, if Yoda knew Anakin wanted the rank to access the archives, to save Padme, not just out of pride or impatience, things also would've been different
When Anakin joined the Jedi Order, he was already too old. Life lessons learned outside the Order left an impression on him. It was crucial for him to embrace the virtues of the Jedi Code to overcome these impressions. It's not like he was banned from becoming a Jedi Master at all, just delayed to the right time. Obi Wan sums up the Council's intent well when he said " ...be patient Anakin. It won't be long before the Council makes you a Jedi Master", with "won't be long" being the operative words.
This is the first time I heard Obi Wan voted against Anakin becoming a Master. You well summarized their reasons, but there is no excuse for the way they handled it. There was no justification for them to humiliate him the way they did. Yoda could have told him privately, and explained their reasons. He would have still been mad, but not shamed in front of everyone....including many whose lives Anakin saved multiple times.
History's (irl) already proven time and time again that those who deem themselves more than others think they should be allowed to make all the rules solely based on that; "might makes right". We know how that ended.....And we pushed back against it for good reason. No, he did NOT deserve the rank of master.
They should have said no to Palpatine. Then explain to Anakin that they want him to be promoted through his own body of work and not a favor from Palpatine.
And see what conclusion you can draw take both sides of rhe argument into account and come to one big conclusion based on it because I think this covo is interesting.
Anakin was worth in power, but he was completely unstable mentally and emotionally. The biggest mistake Yoda and Obi-wan made here was allowing Kiati Mundi and Mace Windu's statements to dominate the conversation, even as they voted against him. Anakin deep down was still the slave child, looking for validation, and Obi-wan was one of the people he looked to for that.
I'd like to think he is disiplined with the three years he used to enhance his lightsaber skill which is part of discipline and he helped other younglings. Kenobi deserve to speak with Anakin and Skywalker deserves that his questions to be answered if it concerns anyone he cares about.
The idea of teeny Anakin becoming a Master at such a young age and with such limited experience is patently absurd, and not an idea the council should ever have been depicted as legitimately considering. It's as stupid as considering an advisory seat on the council as a slight rather than a great honor. It's one of the many, many things I consider ridiculous in the prequelverse.
What many people in the below comments fail to realize is that the Jedi failed Anakin. They had allowed themselves to become too ossified by their own dogma, they were too rigid, they had become so detached from the people of the galaxy that they didn’t understand that the galaxy had changed. What they failed to understand is that Jedi are supposed to care and love, and have connections just like anyone else. It’s true that those things can potentially lead down a dark path, but not if a person is given the right emotional guidance that he/she needs to process those feelings. If the Jedi hadn’t discouraged attachments and had given Anakin the kind of emotional guidance and support that Qui Gon would’ve then things would’ve been very different, and he would’ve never turned to Palpatine for emotional support in the first place. We see how Yoda and Obi Wan are more compassionate and understanding with Luke than they were with Anakin.
I side with the council's decision hands down, and it's not even close. Anakin was a failure of a Jedi of his own accord more often than not, and nearly every single "unfair" decision that the council made was ultimately proven correct by Anakin's decisions throughout the prequel period. Obi-Wan was an extremely forgiving master and even let him develop several attachments while simultaneously trying to model for him, and explain to him, how a proper Jedi should conduct themselves. By contrast, Anakin constantly gave in to his baser instincts at every conceivable opportunity, even when he openly admitted to knowing better. Realistically, there's only so much that could be done to protect Anakin from himself, and people with that level of immaturity and arrogance have no business being in a position of political leadership like a council seat - there's a reason plenty of irl successful military leaders went on to become lackluster or terrible heads of state.
He did fail him on many fronts. His “Jedi code” prevented him from seeing Anakin as another human who simply needed support and affirmation. It’s why I tell people that I think that Kenobi is horridly overrated and deserved to finally be cut down in episode 4. Mf should’ve died on Mustafar or to Maul but the prequels gave him mad plot armor.
If anakin would have waited in the chambers until mace returned he likely would have been made a master at the next meeting. Mace was already very impressed that anakin came to him and told him about palpatine which to him meant that he was more loyal to the jedi than the chancellor.
I think they should've given him the seat and for the rank of master should have been an additional test and with Yoda giving a reasoning in private. Being rejected twice and humiliated by the Council twice only drove Anakin closer to Sidious.
Anakin's brashness came from his time being bullied in the Jedi temple. They kept demanding him to do extraordinary things, yet never truly accepted him as a person.
Ready to be a master in Yoda's Order? No. Luke's Order? I think so. All of the things he struggled with having to hide he wouldn't have had to hide. This would have tremendously eased his fear and anger. Ultimately its a moot point, but I think he'd have made a good master in Luke's Order.
And that's why Palpatine is smarter than everyone. He knew that would be the reaction and it what exacerbate the division between Anakin and the council which is exactly what he used to dog walk him over to the dark side. I don't think Palpatine cared about having someone on the council at all.
Hostley, the fact that Yoda didn't try to give him more hands-on guidance upon seeing how hard Anakin took the decision just goes to show one more misstep on his part.
I just assume the actual reason he can't be made a Master is because he hadn't trained a Padawan into a Knight because Ahsoka quit. The process of being a single Jedi's master likely often helps orchestrates the personal growth that the Council wants to see in potential Jedi Masters. Hence him still not being ready, and being outraged by the notion of being a Knight on the Council. It was probably the most naked political ploy by the Council in the entire Clone Wars. They would've been entirely better off just forcing a new Padawan upon him.
In a few years, Anakin would have been ready. Hell this entire thing could have been a test to see Anakin's character: he he accepted without fail I think Yoda would have added: "Ready now, you are not. But ready soon, will happen." Anakin needed to show patience and show humility in that instance. But he chose to act like he was slighted and honestly he wasn't UNTIL Mace Windu decided to be an ass for no reason to him.
I personally believe that the Novel of Episode 3 covered it clearly as to why Anakin never received the rank. Although I also believe that Episode 3 also missed a moment when Anakin asked "How can you be in the Council and not be a master?" Because this is actually very easily answered. All Yoda had to do was say "Ask Master Mundi, you should. A Knight he was, when joined the High Council, he did. Attained his Master title afterward, he did, through training another to knighthood."
Because that wasn’t a thing then? The novelizations were canon only so far as they didn’t contradict the movies. With Anakin’s motivations, the novel was off. It wasn’t all about Padme. Just to paraphrase some of the things he said in the movie: Anakin: “I am the Chosen One! I will be the most powerful Jedi ever! It is my destiny to rule the galaxy! Then I will have the power to do anything. How can anyone not understand this or stand between me and power?” (Force chokes Padme to unconsciousness for “turning against him”) Obi-Wan: “Your arrogance and lust for power has blinded you.” After his outburst there in the Council chambers, while they were in session, (which they handle about right) I would’ve made it clear to him before they adjourned, that while he was technically on the Council, he would not officially be a member of that Council, that a seat will be available for him during their meetings, but that the Council has no obligation to hear either his counsel or let him vote on whatever matter, and that this would be a temporary position out of respect to the Chancellor and subject to change depending, either an upgrade to full member status once he passes the requirements for the rank of master (which his little fit proved that he didn’t), or explosion from the Jedi Order if he kept up the attitude.
Masters Obi-wan, Windu, and Yoda were absolutely correct. Being a great warrior and a Jedi Master are two entirely different things, and Anakin was incapable of properly following the Jedi Code. He was consumed by fear, and that is why he fell to the dark side. Respectfully, I don't see how you could argue that he deserved/should have been granted the rank of master. That is my point of view. Thanks for the awesome video!
It would be interesting if any one of us, warped into the council chambers right after Anakin took his seat, appearing as a force ghost, got our barings together, "sorry for the intrusion, young Anakin, mentally and emotionally, you are not ready. If you dwell too hard on it, it will be bad for you till the end." Then as suddenly as one arrived, the one would vanish. And no, I doubt it would change anything, other than leave the council stunned and speechless for a while.
Then you should have put Anakin in the Jedi Sentinel class and leave him be. Their constant judgement and mistrust doesn't help matters either. I would have humbly not accepted it and requested to be sent to the sentinel class. To use my skills elsewhere, since nothing I do is good enough.
Sympathizing with the members of the Jedi Order is quite challenging when you evaluate their actions from a perspective where both sides of the Force are part of a whole. They tried to shape Anakin to fit their perception of what the Chosen One should be, according to the Jedi’s worldview. But Anakin himself was meant to be more, and he knew it. He wasn't just another Force-sensitive; he was unique. The only one who could have done a truly remarkable job as Anakin’s master was Qui-Gon, who was the only member of the council with a humble soul-perhaps even humbler than Yoda’s. That’s why they failed. I’d argue that the Force itself punished the council, using Anakin as the instrument of that punishment. The council had numerous opportunities to change their ways and listen to the Force, which would have allowed them to perceive the darkness behind Palpatine’s mask, but they did not. No wonder Dooku and Qui-Gon were the only ones who sensed that something was wrong.
I'm with the Council on this and agree with Obi-wan and Yoda. I think Windu was blinded by his distrust of Skywalker, which heavily influenced his vote. Although, had Anakin not turned to the dark side and killed Palpatine, I would have voted to make him a Master.
Obi Wan should of supported Anakins ascent to Master the 2 worked very effectively since the start of the war he saved Obi Wans life countless times and Obi Wan knew Ahsokas departure wasn't Anakins fault
sounds to me like Yoda and Obi-Wan thought that Anakin didn't deserve the rank of master AS YET, while Windu thinks Anakin shouldn't ever earn that rank AT ALL no matter what
So it’s Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Mace Windu’s fault for the death of the Jedi Order. A yes vote would have avoided everything. His love pushed Anakin to hate. That kind of acknowledgement would have helped with his mental stability. The Jedi were so detached from the universe, they never considered the ingratitude and inflexibility of the Jedi Code. How many times did Anakin demonstrate their ideals through action, not words? What Anakin needed emotional discipline training. Something the order had no one to prepare him for. For an order that claims to love? They were extremely cold to Skywalker. And Mace definitely needed a head slap. For his own Master to vote against, saving his life countless times and witness to his valor, compassion, selflessness, and honor. Obi-Wan might as well slapped him in the face. How ironic. The Jedi Code lead to the death of the Order. Luke was right. The old Order needed to die. The Jedi Order was a mental health nightmare.
But didn't Qui-Gon go against the orders of the Council, bend the Jedi Code and he was offered a seat? Also, if Windu saw Palpatine as the issue as to why he was not giving Anakin master hood he should have explained that.
Here's the thing: if OBI-WAN, not Windu, had given Anakin the "you have the seat, not the rank" speech, Anakin would have been calmer, especially with a promise to discuss the matter in private later, Anakin would have taken it MUCH BETTER. Especially if it was explained as a trial for him to *pass*. But that would have required a compassionate view of Anakin, which only Obi-Wan Kenobi truly had. The High Council's lack of adherence to the Jedi Code regarding compassion bit EVERYONE in the ass.
The council was 100% correct in denying Anakin the rank of master. His reaction to being told so proves the point. He's got the emotional discipline of a child. He's simply not mature or humble enough to deserve it. He didn't just think he was better than all the other Jedi as a matter of fact, but as a matter of contemptuous ego. The fact that he let himself be convinced that Palpatine could just appoint him as a master on the council by political decree and the Council would just accept it... It's just silly. Even if Ahsoka didn't leave the order and got knighted, he probably still would lack the emotional discipline necessary to deserve elevation to Master. Boy might have been freed from chattel slavery, but he was still a slave to his emotions.
Anakin's reaction was, in my opinion, indisputable proof that Anakin did not deserve to be a master yet. He showed anger, self-centeredness and entitlement, pride, arrogance, short-sightedness, a complete lack of wisdom, and showed blatant disrespect to the decision of the high-council which he wanted to represent.
As a kid, I used to say believe that it was unacceptable for the Council for not giving him the rank of master with all the hard work he has done in the clone wars. Now, the older I am, I understand that Anakin really doesn't deserve the rank of master because I realized that he lacks the maturity and wisdom to get the rank of master.
At the very least, the council should've at least explained the reasoning for their decision, as well as what they expect him to do to truly earn the Master rank. At least then he probably wouldn't have reacted the way he did, and he might've be more wise and patient in future decision making (turning to the dark side).
While I agree he wasn't quite ready I feel like the entire matter should have been handled better with possibly a few concessions made to appease him if only a little
Ironically, though, he may have trained one of the best Jedi of the order in Ahsoka as an unofficial master, which got her compassion, survival instincts, and determination to protect others from Anakin The theatre of war allowed the Chosen One to give more practical teachings, which definitely fit him more, and even though she left the Order, Ahsoka embodied what a true Jedi was supposed to be more than the emotionally stumped Jedi Council.
Having Mace and Obi-wan not give him a good explanation to why he isn’t on the rank of masters was low. And having Obi-wan giving Anakin the no look 🤦♂️🤦♂️, that’s low. I know he thinks of Anakin being immature but really?
Im still critical of the council. They never had any intention of training him and only allowed obi wan to do so out of respect for qui gon, not to mention they constantly stymied his growth as a jedi, they sided against an innocent ahsoka and cast her away before anakin could bring her to knighthood. They only allowed him on the council to spy on the chancellor and on top of that refused to grant him the understanding that he needed as a special case all while allowing a jedi master and council member to have not one but four wives. Not too mention they were all afraid of him. Their fear led to anakin becoming angry with them, which led to anakin hating them and causing a whole galaxy to suffer for it.
I I think there's 2 plot holes between attack of the clones and revenge of the sith that should also be explored in this whole debate. In the movies no I don't think Anakin should've been promoted to the rank of Jedi master and I agree with master Yoda and Obi-wan's reasoning more, he was a overfearful Jedi which lead him to the dark side and he wasn't emotionally mature. I think that most people's depiction of the perfect Jedi is Keado Munday but there's 1 fatal flaw and that's the fact that master Munday detached himself so perfectly it's not only that he had no attachment but barely any emotion at all, any Padawan he lost he saw it all as the will of the force, he was blind to the universe around him and to the true will of the force he had no emotion and no instinct, Anakin being master Munday's poler opposite he had too much emotion and was too insecure it's because of this I think master Munday should have been Anakin's master because he would've taught him to the Jedi doctrine better at the same time master Munday would've told the Jedi council about Padme or under his training Anakin would've decided to either break up with her or leave the Jedi order before his basic training was complete meaning he wouldn't be as much a brilliant courageous tactitioner in battle and he wouldn't be as honed in the force as he was in attack of the clones he wouldn't be as knowledgeable in the force as he was in the movies if he was still with Padme and he wouldn't be a Jedi. Returning to the plot holes between the movie and the clone wars series in the clone wars he was a Jedi master just not on the council, he took orders from the council just like every other Jedi and it was the fact that he had a Padawan to look after and care for like a lil sister or a daughter that I think fixed his emotional flaws and kept him in the light, in the movie had he been Ashoka's master around the time of Padme's death he would've had a attachment to the Jedi something some sense of responsibility to ground him to the light and Mace Windu wouldn't have had an opportunity to try killing Palpatine because Anakin would've already done it averting order 66 and the emergency session of the senite would've taken a different path revealing that Palpatine was a sith lord manipulating the powers in the war which would have led to a motion to end the war and reunite the Republic senite with the separatist confederacy and vote for peace. In the movies it's not being on the council that mattered as much as Anakin being a Jedi master, it was the experience of being responsible for someone that kept him grounded in the light and helped him temper his fear helped him master them as an instinctual asset and pushed him to train Ashoka with the clones and made him a well rounded Jedi master which would've lead him to be on the council eventually anyway, it was his emotions that made him a wiser and more intune Jedi more like master Plowcoon. I think if Anakin had Ashoka in the movies he would've been more well rounded and mature for her sake and that would have addressed Obi-wans and Yoda's concerns overruling Windu's and they all would've voted "master" Skywalker on the council in spite of Palpatine's plans removing his and the dark side's hold on Anakin leading to him killing Palpatine and for filling the prophecy of the 1. It was the Jedi's savier detachment of attachment and emotion that led to their downfall because of that they had no instinct in the force and won the war for the wrong side, it was the fact that they were so detached that made them blind in the force, ironically learning from Anakin and Asoka from the clone wars series would've saved them and the Republic.

Obi-Wan had sense. Anakin was powerful enough to be a master, but lacked the other necessary qualities. Outside of being able to access the restricted sections of the Jedi archives, I doubt Anakin would have wanted to actually be a master.
I think he was not ready but at the same time i wonder... If they HAD given him the title he also may have realized himself that he wasnt ready. Its not like they would all just do whatever he said. His voice would be heard and appropriately considered or ignored depending on the value of his input I think in this moment the council itself put too much value on the title of master Anakins role as the chosen one may have been worth the exception in some ways
I mostly agree with Obi-wan and Yoda that Anakin was not ready to be give the rank of master for he show have some lack of long term resepect to the council. If Anakin tried to stop being a black sheep of the order and more of light gray one it would have been more favorable for him.
Through the council should have met Anakin half-way and create a new rank of High Knight where he gets limited amount of the forbidden vault and let him share his own view on matters at least that could have worked better for them
I think Mace was jealous of Anakin's power with the force and many on the council had their own flaws and didn't entirely follow "the jedi code to the letter". yes, Anakin wasn't exactly master material for his teenage angst but if allowed to allow it to pass over and through him I feel he could compartmentalize those feelings.
Anakin was not ready too become a Jedi master. At that particular point in time he was still extremely emotional and had occasions of being very volatile. He lacked emotional control and was prone too outburst as seen when he was refused the rank of master. Just being powerful is not the sole prerequisite of becoming a Jedi master.

0:55 “twice the pride, double the fall.” Wouldn’t shock me if Anakin’s hubris played a role in barring him from the rank of master.
I feel the same way. If they would have just talked to him about it and encouraged him, things wouldn't have gone so awry
I feel like they wanted him to learn and grow, with them being someone he can come to and humbly ask the questions he had. Giving him the answers might not help him grow past his fears
Why do people think Anakin should be coddled?
Anakin "stewing in this anger" was a CLEAR sign he was not ready to be a Jedi master. Obi wan was clearly embarrassed for him after his emotional outburst in front of the whole council.
There is a different way of looking ta this: The Jedi used Anakin as a soldier and enforcer and it's all that he ultimately became.
Honestly, manipulation aside, Palpatine saying “don’t continue to be a pawn of the Jedi council” was actually true.
I think it’s important for all people to work on the the things they are not as good at or struggle to overcome whether it be hobbies or habits in order to become a more well rounded individual and gain more concrete master of your own life
Anakin may have had the skills as a master but mentally he wasn't ready.
Yes, and at 22, there isn't anything wrong with that
Exactly!!! 👊👊✊✊👏👏👌👌
I think the problem is that the council didn’t tell Anakin WHY, they just told him NO
Mace didn t hate anakin just didn’t t trust
Which slowly turned into hate
Here is my take...He would have never been ready due to how he conflicted he was about the Jedi code and the council. Also, Obi Wan knew about his relationship, attachment to Padme, hence he may not have ever approved of Anakin being a Jedi Master. If Anakin didn't turn to the dark side, he would have more attachments, to his children and family responsibilities. Would have the council found out? Lots of what ifs here...
I know I'm going off the script of this video but I can understand why Anakin wanted the Rank of Master but I've never understood why Obi Wan Kenobi wanted to be on the Jedi Council even tho his own Master Qui Gon Jinn denied the seat many times if it was me being trained my alarm bells would be going
they all should've explained and talk to so he can understand and he would've understand
Agree
Man Stupendous another video on my favorite character and another great one it is so keep em coming cus I love em and can’t get enough of em
If he mastered temperance and self control he would definitely would've been master.
You should a similar video you did for Anakin yesterday, "the military genius of Luke Skywalker"
Anakin could have refused the seat without being granted the title.
To be fair he was representing Palpatine. He couldn’t deny a direct request from the supreme chancellor like that.
Yeah but if it wasn't for him the Republic would've ended on the invisible hand
They should have said no to Palpatine. Then explain to Anakin that they want him to be promoted through his own body of work and not a favor from Palpatine.
Stupendous you should do a talk with the archirvist discussing whether annikin truly deserved the title or not.
I agree with the council, while almost entirely recognizing that Anakins flaws as a Jedi and Man, are almost entirely their fault.
Uncle Obi should've talked to him about this more. He failed as a mentor and brother.
Good soldiers watch early
for once, I can agree with them in this instance.
Anakin has zero wisdom and emotional maturity for someone who should be like a monk he is more like average person
But ready soon, will happen."
Anakin needed to show patience and show humility in that instance.
Just to paraphrase some of the things he said in the movie:
Anakin:
“I am the Chosen One! I will be the most powerful Jedi ever! It is my destiny to rule the galaxy! Then I will have the power to do anything. How can anyone not understand this or stand between me and power?”
(Force chokes Padme to unconsciousness for “turning against him”)
Obi-Wan:
“Your arrogance and lust for power has blinded you.”
After his outburst there in the Council chambers, while they were in session, (which they handle about right) I would’ve made it clear to him before they adjourned, that while he was technically on the Council, he would not officially be a member of that Council, that a seat will be available for him during their meetings, but that the Council has no obligation to hear either his counsel or let him vote on whatever matter, and that this would be a temporary position out of respect to the Chancellor and subject to change depending, either an upgrade to full member status once he passes the requirements for the rank of master (which his little fit proved that he didn’t), or explosion from the Jedi Order if he kept up the attitude.
Great analysis as usual.
Anakin wasn't ready for a seat, Yoda was right in his point of view
Then you should have put Anakin in the Jedi Sentinel class and leave him be. Their constant judgement and mistrust doesn't help matters either. I would have humbly not accepted it and requested to be sent to the sentinel class. To use my skills elsewhere, since nothing I do is good enough.
They were right. Anakin was too compromised by the chancellor and was being manipulated
"You voted against me, Obi-Wan? WHY?!"
"I did? Man, I had to take too many death sticks that day."
Did they tell Anakin WHY he couldn't be a master? Maybe that would've been helpful.
I'm with the Council on this and agree with Obi-wan and Yoda. I think Windu was blinded by his distrust of Skywalker, which heavily influenced his vote. Although, had Anakin not turned to the dark side and killed Palpatine, I would have voted to make him a Master.
Bro Ki Adi shouldn't be talking, ki adi was also a knight when he was appointed to the council
Obi-Wan is right. Anakin wasn't ready. Yoda was right too. Anakin wasn't ready. It was political maneuver by Palpatine. May the Force be with you too😊
But didn't Qui-Gon go against the orders of the Council, bend the Jedi Code and he was offered a seat? Also, if Windu saw Palpatine as the issue as to why he was not giving Anakin master hood he should have explained that.
Nothing could save his wife from him 😂
Here's the thing: if OBI-WAN, not Windu, had given Anakin the "you have the seat, not the rank" speech, Anakin would have been calmer, especially with a promise to discuss the matter in private later, Anakin would have taken it MUCH BETTER. Especially if it was explained as a trial for him to *pass*.
But that would have required a compassionate view of Anakin, which only Obi-Wan Kenobi truly had.
The High Council's lack of adherence to the Jedi Code regarding compassion bit EVERYONE in the ass.
I ALSO AGREE of not naming anakin as a MASTER ON THE COUNCIL he shows everytime that he CannotCONTROL HIS EMOTIONS !!
After everything he's done . He deserved to be a master
Keep going dude! Your shit is good
The council was 100% correct in denying Anakin the rank of master.
I love him in the clone wars..amazing show
You are on this Master but we do not grant you the rank of Council.
Anakin clearly wasn't ready to become a master, his response and downfall proves that completely.
As much as I love Anakin, he definitely wasn't ready to be a Master.
Wave on your last video you said let us know if you want more vidoes videos on annikin Skywalker and yes I absolout Ely would, the more videos on the best character in star wars the better. Here are some video ideas
1. what sort of relationship annikin and dooku would have if they weren't enemies.
2. One discussing annikins character development as a whole from phantom menace all the way up till his godly status in the wbw.
Not being a master while being forced to lead thosands of men into battle is crazy
Obi-Wan had sense.
Anakin was powerful enough to be a master, but lacked the other necessary qualities.
Outside of being able to access the restricted sections of the Jedi archives, I doubt Anakin would have wanted to actually be a master.
They could have gave it to him but he was going to the darkside either way.
I think he was not ready but at the same time i wonder...
If they HAD given him the title he also may have realized himself that he wasnt ready. Its not like they would all just do whatever he said. His voice would be heard and appropriately considered or ignored depending on the value of his input
I think in this moment the council itself put too much value on the title of master
Anakins role as the chosen one may have been worth the exception in some ways
I mostly agree with Obi-wan and Yoda that Anakin was not ready to be give the rank of master for he show have some lack of long term resepect to the council. If Anakin tried to stop being a black sheep of the order and more of light gray one it would have been more favorable for him.
Through the council should have met Anakin half-way and create a new rank of High Knight where he gets limited amount of the forbidden vault and let him share his own view on matters at least that could have worked better for them
If they weren’t gonna give him the rank they shouldn’t of given him a seat either
Alot more is said on this in novel how he attacks mace saying he's more powerful then any of you
I think Mace was jealous of Anakin's power with the force and many on the council had their own flaws and didn't entirely follow "the jedi code to the letter". yes, Anakin wasn't exactly master material for his teenage angst but if allowed to allow it to pass over and through him I feel he could compartmentalize those feelings.
He wasn't ready from the start. I believe that the council made the right decision, not granting him the rank of master.
Wait--this makes no sense. They made the decision (or Mace did) on the fly as Anakin told them--when did they have time to vote?
Fascinating considering how egotistical and maniacal much of the council was
Isn’t it ironic the Jedi calibrate life and are strong in healing ❤️🩹 the Sith are strong in causing death and pain. Yet it is the Sith that develop two forms of eternal life
