Great video Duncan, I'm just in the process of fitting a MDX 555 to my 05 sti then I'll be booking in to see your lovely self in the new year. Hope you have a great weekend
nice when you hit the 290bhp mark like you did on my03 blob a few years ago which was also mapped on vpower. when it came to changing my upipe on the day of the dyno day at scoobyclinic i had one of there uppipe put on which was a slightly bigger in diameter and it helped it to 298bhp because the secondhand uppipe i bought and fitted was scrap and leaked.
You are the 1st tuner I have seen tune with the hood closed. Any particular reason? Just discovered these vids from across the pond and mind mind is blown! I dont need as much as I think I need for what I had planned.
The huge fan we have here blows strongly and is best directed into the tmic through the scoop like it would be on the road. Running it with the bonnet(hood) up would give it worse airflow and worse cooling
Amazing seeing you real-time adjust and show why you're after the changes. I need a Wahlboro and a muffler delete and my poor stock Bug wagon is ready for real fun! (At 199k too haha)
Really want to get the exiga mapped. Not so much for power gains but the improve the driving experience. Being an auto I know it’s more limited though.
Awsome video as always nice and simple explanations Im very much lookin forward to bringing you my ratty sleeper GF8 😅 ive been waiting to bring you an Impreza for mapping for some 15 years maybe 😂😂 almost there i finally got around to building my car and will be in touch sooon 😘 I gave my mates stabdard blob wrx a freshen up and a few mods and bought it too you made 305hp with standard tdo4 :D am still super impressed how his car drives and holds boost for such a diddy turbine
Tbh.. That should be just as reliable as an u mapped car. With it running more effectively and cleaner it should have no issues. Just good fuel and good oil needed alongside proper maintenance 👍
Yes.. It did and it was completely different afterwards 😎 Surprisingly people will do the mods but not map because it 'doesnt' need it.. And these are probably experiencing the same dips. Yes it might not blow up, but it would be much nicer with a custom remap 😎
then it ends up having the same usable power as a diesel with a 3.5k rev limit, pretty pointless on a petrol, driveability is more important then what the peak numbers says at the end of the day, peak power doesn't tell the whole story of how well the car delivers power. @@racedynamix
I have a question though..What's holding the car on the dyno...I can't seem to find the stripes..Anyways I love your content and also i am a true die hard subaru fan...
I got a 2010 wrx, standard td04, straight through exhaust, uprated fuel pump and induction, I believe I'm a set of bigger injectors and front mount intercooler away from being the right car for the test?
Great numbers on the stock turbo! I would assume this was boost target adjustment, so it wasn't pulling WGDC? I've tuned (opensource) our VF48 2.0L bugeye and it still seems laggy before like ~4000 RPMs. Is there anything i can change to make it spool quicker in the ECU?
There is an extended version of this video with all the map changes explained and shown for the academy members which will go live on Monday. Changing the boost target without changing wgdc does not get the results you need. Both the target and wgdc ranges (inc PID) need to be changed 👍
@racedynamix I didn't even know you offered the academy, but I found it on your channel. If I can't figure it out, I'll have to see what you did. I adjusted the turbo dynamics and it definitely took away all oscillation, but lagged. I turned up the turbo dynamics and it's not as laggy, but oscillates sometimes. I bet it's just finding the middle ground. The 3 port solenoid seems like it could help the situation as it's still on the 2 port. Thanks for your response!
@@AdryelCervantesInteresting question, the engine has capability to handle much more than that. All modifications and increases in power are potentially getting you closer to the breaking point but ensuring that the car is running well and at safe Afr and det free with a custom remap is safer than not doing that.
Im running 18 psi on a VF28, 14.5 ignition timing, I could get to 16 but it knocks sometimes if IATs creep up or on a hot day, so i figure 14.5 is safe? 10.7 - 11 AFR. I need to get bigger injectors as over 6000 RPM i have to taper off to give myself headroom. Is 90% injector duty cycle still OKAY? i keep below 80%, easy to do under 5.9k RPM How does this sound Great video
on top feed injectors they handle higher ipw better so have seen up to 100 .. sometimes even over 100. They still actually add fuel to 108% because they are essentially static open then..no opening or closing part open points. 14.5 timing is fuel dependant but seems reasonable if good quality fuel for that afr
@@racedynamix I forgot to mention this is on a WRX gc8 440cc injector sidefeeds (W20c EJ207 block, double cross drill crank, thick walls), is say 90% safe for say an overboost condition in the cold in 4th gear or even now and then Usually got the rest of the table on 80% - 85% Ah yes, 98 RON FUEL, tuned with knock ears, I also have a knock link warning light which will flash with knock pretty handy if youre driving and hit knock. ages ago before i learnt cars a tuner i hired put like 20 degrees in, the car would ping its tits off so i lost trust in most tuners, I would have to vet them, now i just tune myself.
It amazes me seeing other tuners doing their work without any det cans or knock devices apart from the ecu. Amazes me in not a good way that is... a bit reckless IMO.
@@racedynamix yes I wire that one up to a switch like in the 05+ models. I was always under the assumption I had to unplug it after each flash.. this clears it up thank you.
Hi. Thank you for the comment.. I don't travel to Leeds but I map around the Birmingham area every month if you are interested 👍 or a drive down to Surrey Rolling Road and it will be a quicker drive back 😊
A 3 port is a 3 port. Just the same regardless on the whole. Most of the time they are the same part numbers across lots of makes. Most of the time I fit ones that were originally Porsche items. Wgdc for 3 port vs 2 port is generally lower but to get more boost you will generally increase it to increase boost 👍
Really enjoying these power runs Duncan.
Great to see what you can achieve with a decent map.👍
Thanks Paul... lots more to come 😎🙏
Thats exaclly what i would like to have on my MY99.
290-300 seems to be the sweet spot on a GC chassis.
Totally agree 💯👌
I recently got a 00 (registered) WRX bug eye and that drop of boost made me believe something was wrong! I’d love to have that power line smoothen.
