Blender devs need to add this to the core features. If this past years improvements finally put them on pro artists radars, this workflow optimization would really make them stand out.
Awesome! Thank you so much for the recommendation! I have to try this out. Not only for modelling, but also for retopos. Thanks and have a great weekend.
another great tool for the toolbox. tnx again for the heads-up, m8 ! : ) here's a tip for people having problems to install this: Close Blender. Extract/Unzip the file. then in the \PolyQuilt-master\Addons folder, copy the PolyQuilt folder (the other stuff is not needed) to your Blender addons folder. Open Blender, then go to Edit/Preference/Add-ons, do a search for Polyquilt and check the box. save the preferences, relaunch Blender.
Thank You. But right now there's a link on the github page that says 'Click Here' (just after the bit where he says 'I'm currently working on an English document'.) That link will download a .zip which you can install directly from within Blender's add on preferences
There is something in the way you talk that bring back television memories. I'm not able to understand what kind of accent is it because english is not my language To me you are a mix of: Flintheart Glomgold from Duck Tales and Willie from The Simpsons! It's very funny for me to listening you! Thank you! I hope you don't get upset for this because I really liked it...and I also undestand it very well! I doesn't happen so often when people is speaking english with an accent.
i loved your accent lol. it makes the video very interesting and entertaining. and thank you for showing how to use this. i can now make things i werent able to make
this would have helped. :) ...Mind that you have to extract the .zip-file and there is a folder inside called PolyQuilt (in the addons folder of your download). You have to select that folder and make it a .zip. (In Windows: right click and send to .zip folder). Then in Blender you install it as all other addons: Edit mode > Preferences > Addons > Install. Browse to the .zip file you just created and press Install. Then activate the addon, save preferences and refresh.

@@moontan91 So i basically have to install the addon manually by installing the polyquilt folder within the addons library? Is the rest of the not important, because there is still quite some stuff tho.
Nice video. Always wanted for the resources with all the free stuff. Not some kind of junk, but a really nice pieces. Can't understand like 25% of what you saying, but still love your accent :D
Another function you might have missed : when you hover over an edge, a thin barely visible empty triangle appears at the edge's center. If you hover over that triangle, it becomes white, click and drag and it'll extrude the edge. But you can still drag it around as long as you don't release the left click. Much better PolyQuilt option than Shift+Click to extrude open edges. One thing I can't figure out is how to delete something with PolyQuilt (Got it : you gotta long press on vertex, edge, face, it becomes red, when you release it'll be removed).
Anyone know what the process is for getting a new open-source addon into the Blender default distribution? This seems like a good candidate, and I imagine it's pretty easy since there are already tons of disabled-by-default addons that come with Blender, and some of them are pretty flaky so I can't imagine the bar is terribly high.
To install translate the page to English, and then use "Click here to download" under "Introduction Method". Do not use the "Download or clone" button.
Could You make video, how to customize Blender to work more like SketchUp? Mainly about simplicity of drawing 3d objects like in SketchUp (this ad-don is good step toward that direction).
Welcome to blender lots of great industry defining tech. Then you find its the little things that are still missing from maya/Max but I'm sure they'll get there one day
Thanks but I've a question why is it in foreign language? The link is not clear what to download please explain? Also how do you install it into Blender?
It's in "foreign language" because the developer is Japanese. Keep an eye on the dev's github page for the addon, English instructions are WIP; github.com/sakana3/PolyQuilt
As a total amateur, I can't see what this is usefull for. You should make a proper model for demonstrating the power of the tool. Well, just an opinion.
@@StevenScott_studio53 Why should I? I'm not too interested in add-ons, unless they are unavoidable (i.e.: NodeWrangler, Extra Objects or Images as Planes).
if you are having issues installing the addon, I made this as a guide.. th-cam.com/video/h_UyrP70uCo/w-d-xo.html #cheers
This needs to be included as a default addon, this is incredibly helpful for so many things
You can say that again...

So have I. So have I
I'm just starting to use blender after using Maya and same
This is the comment I was looking for! 🤙🏾

lmao i love this too
It’s a Glaswegian accent, Im fairly certain, if not it’s Scottish.. Scotland is the greatest Western country, for many reasons.
Callum ...what does this have to do with scotland being the best country..?
Thank you so much for informing us of this amazing addon. It works almost exactly like Quad Draw in maya and I love it!!!
no worries, it's a great addon.

This for retopology is magic

this is the best thing since loopTools. they should add it to the official build.
What a great tool. Wish I had seen this a while ago!
Thanks, didn't know about this addon, looks very useful.
I love blender addons with toolbar support like polyquilt is there any other addon that has toolbar support
Thanks Steven useful addon!
Wow, amazing.
Blender 2.8 No limit.
Hi steven i dont have poly quilt and i have 2.81 blender. Why do you think i cant find it in my program?
Wow, great addon...and man, your accent is fantastic. I'm sure you get that a lot, but it's just a treat.

Cool. At 2.9 Works too
Thanks!!!

That AdoredTV intro
I couldnt find one for 2.79 is there one?
It's Alt + Left click to draw a poly loop.
Is this...English? Lol. Awesome channel, dude!
Talking about re-topology will it stick to the model surface as your creating quad polygons.
Cheers
MR HOLLYWOOD
You would need to use the shrink wrap modifier for it to stick
thanks
Hi Thank you for the recommendation. I download it. Tells me it is ok. But I can`t find it in the addons. Any Idea?
Wowwww.. awesome tool.
Wait, can you do the ,,live surface" function like in maya? So that you can use it for retopology?
yeah it can be used as a repo tool... but tbh there's a few other specific retopology already out there
