12/I2/18 and I have had my Insta360 OneX for about 2 weeks. Today was the first time I even tried just a 360 camera shot. Was impressed. However this is to provide a little info for those who don't have smart phones. Yes there are a few of us who still don't have one. I did not want to get an expensive Ipad, so I purchased a Samsung Tab A 8". I thought I had checked all the minimum requirements that Insta put forth. It met 2G RAM reqs; it had a better OS than Android 5.1. I could increase memory with added micro SD card. It had a price reduction and was on sale at a great price. But the processor was a Qualcomm APQ8017, which turns out to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425. Insta specifies that it should be Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 or 820, or competitive equivalent. So while several Android smartphones are OK, there do not seem to be any Android tablets that utilize the more powerful processor. I finally gave up and bought the more expensive Ipad 2018. So now the Camera control app works for me. I thought I did all my homework to save some money, but apparently not. So anyone who is planning to buy an Insta360 One X, CHECK WHAT SPECS your cellphone is first. For instance the minimum for Samsung is the Galaxy 7. Just a word to the wise from someone who had to learn from his own mistakes.

Might get this, working with the original Insta360 One right now. Have you tried out the aluminum housing for it? Looks interesting, and you can get replacement lenses on the frame without needing a whole new thing. May be nice as some extra protection.

Hello that’s great thank you very much. I have the 10 foot stick it works not too bad. I have not had problems with the collapsing however due to its length it does get a little wobbly and sometimes if the wobble is great enough it becomes visible within the video. If you go through my video archive back in the summer I made a review of it. Search for extended selfie stick

Question, could I mount this across the top of my ski helmet on its side rather than up and down to keep the profile low? Or would that orientation cause issues with how the camera understands it’s place in the environment ?
Thanks for the informative video. Can you tell me if the Insta360 ONE X has an option that will auto correct the angle so that if it is slightly crooked (non level ground) it will auto correct that? A few cameras such as the samsung gear 360 has that option and I've found it very useful when working on rougher terrains. Thanks in advance!
When you edit footage in the Insta360 App on the iPad or an iPhone from the OneX, can you transfer to your computer in 4k or 5.7k? I hate how GoPro’s app on mobile produces final footage in only 1080p. I’ve been bouncing back and forth between buying the Insta360 OneX and Fusion but the file size and time to render on the Fusion are far from ideal.

Now that I have shot some more One X footage, the first thing I did was to go right back to this video as a refresher course on basic editing with my Ipad. (Ironically viewed on my 27" PC monitor - LOL). I keep this video book marked for just that reason. The One X editing software is not so intuitive as Insta would like you to think.
I plan on upgrading from my Nikon KM360 this year and I'm strongly considering the Insta 360. I'm quite concerned about the lenses. Despite the colossal crapfest that the KM360 is, I love the fact that the lens caps are replaceable! I'll probably buy the venture case and never take the cam out of it when I'm outdoors. Any comment on what the durability of the lenses is like? Are they prone to scratches and the like?
You can't replace the lenses which is realy bad cause they are so exposed. Why they couldn't make them screwed or something (which I'm pretty sure is not limited by technology)? The device is great but I would feel like runing down the hill with an egg on the stick.
Yes I agree, that was one of the comments I’ve made when I reviewed the fusion from gopro. The lenses protrude and can be easily scratched. The venture case does help remedy that I don’t know if it affects the final quality I will be testing it later on

This camera is good for the price but despite that extra 5.7k res its not as good as gopro fusion 5.2k and even the stabilisation on fusion is better. To some extent insta 360 one x has some functions copied off the fusion like settings access to the packaging of the product which is very much like fusion.
Motion lapse Usually refers to when the camera is stationary In one spot but pans and tilts in the time lapse. Hyper lapse is when the camera moves while remaining fixed on a points of interest
@@stevemoore999 --- Many of David Attenborough's nature videos use this feature. He may show the change of seasons in a forest- weeks go by as the camera pans. Mind blowing. I consider him the master of nature videos. He probably has unlimited funding for the best equipment and talent.
So far I am using a combo of the Ipad software and PowerDirector software when using my PC. The Ipad makes it easy to send a quick clip to Facebook. PD allows me to do a much more professional looking video for TH-cam.
Love the cam, I have a quick ? For you. Does it break down the video clip into smaller ones if you record long videos like the GoPro does?. I know they do it for the safety of the video but man I can’t handle looking for a bunch of smaller videos.
I'm really interested in using this camera for home movies during holidays and birthdays etc. and mostly want to know how quick/easy it is to get the full HD 360 footage from the camera to TH-cam. Any thoughts on that?
Easy as can be. After you make any edits that you wish you could upload it directly to TH-cam via the app. In the video you see me export it to my camera roll however you can skip that step and on the same screen you would select TH-cam instead
The Insta 360 One is brilliant on land and the software is better than many other manufacturers. The 360 One X is doubtless a further improvement but BEWARE these cameras are pretty useless for water sports. I bought the Insta 360 One and the waterproof case for use with action sports on water and it is a total failure. The case distorts the video such that light levels from each lens vary so much that stitching fails to fix this. Equally the case means that the join between the two lenses is very bad rendering the video useless. I have spoken to the Insta technical guys at length but they can offer no practical help. I guess their on water videos were heavily doctored. What a pity. I imagine the same thing applies to the One X as the case looks similar. I am now trying the GoPro Fusion which requires no distorting waterproof case as it is waterproof. Software for the latter looks clunky but at least you should get video worth editing.
I see you're using an I-pad pro for editing. It's the top of the line I-pad. But, some of us can't afford that. Would it be much inferior to use a lesser version of the I-pad? I have neither an smartphone nor an I-pad. I don't care to get a smartphone since I don't need it. So far, Insta360 has only released a stripped down Beta program for desktop computers and I suspect even their V1.0 of the program won't have the capability that the mobile version has- so I expect I'll be buying an I-pad but I don't want one that will be too slow or won't be as effective for editing. Any suggestions on a lesser version of the I-pad? The Insta360 web site does list minimum versions of phones and I-pads and I'm sure all would be sufficient but just looking for a recommendation from an advanced user of the camera and I-pads. Oh, by the way, this video is superb!
Good for us on a day to day videos but not for the pro's I guess, bad thing is it eats up the internal memory of your mobile device and I don't know how to transfer exported videos into an external card or PC that has mp4 format. Usually all I can transfer is the insv. format on my device to PC.

I wonder if the camera would tend to overheat if kept in the case and at fairly warm/hot temperatures, I live in Thailand, it gets warm.

Not sure what is happening when I edit pivot points on a video and then go to upload them to Facebook. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong please?

Go to TH-cam compression/encoding issue. Some of the gopro Hero 7 videos do the same thing.
