Don’t buy a @insta360 I bought one for my travel to Europe and 6 days after buying it both lenses got scratched, the videos look horrible, THIS IS NOT AN ACTION CAMERA!!! buy a GoPro, believe me! You can write to me if you need more info but as a customer don’t buy this!!! A cellphone camera lasts much more than the insta 360; the solution they gave me is to pay $198 dollars to replace them and I didn’t even had a month with the camera … buy a go pro or any other but not this one!
youtube does horrible things with overcompression if you upload in 1080p. Best bet is to upscale your 1080 footage to 4K so that YT uses different level of compression. Even when watching it back at 1080 on YT, the result is much better. The quality of the footage looks terrible and I can't help thinking thats mostly due to YT but there is no way to tell.
I think this guy was hired for his looks for some reason long hair a mustache and an old vintage house makes me feel like this guy knows exactly what he’s talking about
I like this video talks about the actual pain point for the 360 video camera, the editing part. I got a free samsung 360 video camera when I bought a Note 9. I only used twice, then it's sitting there collecting dust. Watched your video makes me want to take it out and try again even though it is already 2 years old.
Ahhh my dude I really enjoyed this review! I'm discovering more and more in my own creative journey that I'm so much less concerned about stats and 'best' and much more interested in what gets me out shooting and enjoying the creative process. With some kiddo's running around the house I love the concept of this as a 'always catch the moment' machine when the off-frame kiddo does something hilarious and with hobbies like RC's, Fatbiking, and Motorbikes the ability to have a small easy to carry machine that has all these features seems excellent!! I'm hoping that one of these is under the tree... but if not I'll be placing an order on Boxing Day I think!! A note about your review too - it was the one that best let me know what the 'feeling' and 'experience' of shooting and editing with this machine would be. The rest of the video's out there just feel like someone reading a brochure so WELL DONE!!
I've been a GoPro dude as long as they've been around but I just won a free insta360 one X2 in an office party raffle and I'm excited but also intimidated trying to figure the whole thing out as I'm not too heavy into video making. I gotta say this was a great review and now I'm a lot more excited to try it out, thank you!
Yeah, the image quality can definitely be wonky and sometimes is hard to avoid the flaws. That being said, overall I think it does a pretty good job of doing stitch work/stabilization etc. where it's worth the tradeoff of not having to do that stuff yourself. Also both the camera firmware and apps were still in beta while filming this video and they have been releasing updates.
Hey. THANK YOU for the nice video, instructions. IS IT KNOWN WHEN A NEW MODEL WILL BE COMING SOON Insta360 One K3. Let's think about shopping. Best regards.
I personally hate the fish eye effect/distortion of lines that comes with wide-angle. Can I avoid it completely while recording, as opposed to fixing it post?
Looks cool for biking! I wonder if there's a way I could make it hands free, but then I would imagine a lot more bumps because while holding it it would be more stabilized
Thanks for the very informative video. One question though: why would editing via the app impact on your phone data plan? Surely you’re connected directly (on wifi or Bluetooth) and not going, somehow, through the cloud. That would be a complete deal-breaker for me, for many reasons.
Thank you! Helpful video indeed. I have an oculus quest to and I am interested in getting this camera but I don’t have any knowledge as to how it could work for viewing in the VR world or perhaps even editing. Do you know anything about it?
I like the X2 better. Most the baseline features/specs are similar. The form factor is easier to carry and use handheld and you can mount it on tripod/selfie stick etc without having to use a case.
@@nichenry5220 there is a vertical battery which basically transforms the one r in. Vertical design with a hole same as one x/2 but the real benefit is the stitch line and the audio, the benefit from the one r is of course the ability to change mods and to have the 4k and leica mods for much better quality in wide angle shots
i dont know anything about these cameras but am interested, but how does it float in front of you? does it blur out the selfie stick??? how was that done
I'm not sure exactly, but I think it's a combo of the pole sitting perfectly in the stitch line plus some software magic. If you look closely, your hand holding the pole looks a little funky but overall a pretty amazing effect.
Great Video.. question, I have the one R but thinking of selling and getting the one X2. I think the stich line might be better? Also I don't really use the 4K lens and I also have the 1 inch lens which I also am not real impressed. My GoPro's and Osmo Action cameras do a good job. Anyway just wanting to hear your thoughts...
I think the X2 is an improvement over the One R but the image quality still leaves a bit to be desired in both cameras IMO... I think the stitch line is good in both cameras but even still, I usually try to avoid seeing it at all costs when I'm editing. Basically I wouldn't buy this to replace your One R if image quality is your biggest concern.
Great review, thanks mate. I saw your Insta360 One R review with the Skatesession... crazy good.... I am interessted for the X2 for filming this kind of Skatesessions... and the question is.... IS THIS Insta360 One X2 overheating or can you just film in 5.7k from 100% battery to 0% with the cam standing on a tripod? Thanks in advance. John
Appreciate the nice words! I have not filmed straight from 100% to 0%, but I have had minor overheating issues with both cameras. Definitely more with the One R but I was also using it more during the summer. And a skatepark surrounded by all that concrete, if it's hot out I'd say every 15-20 min I'd have to turn the camera off and put in the shade for a bit before I started again. I've had the same issue with my phone and other cameras as well. But yeah these 360 cams are definitely more for fun lil park edits rather than relying on em to get your ender haha
@@nichenry5220 thanks mate! 🤙🏼 It sounds good to me. Under these extreme conditions, it's ok to overheat. If the cam is in the shade and its not 30 to 35 °C outside, it should be fine. Keep skating 🌞
Sir im wedding cinematographer. Which camera i bought Gopro hero 9 black vs insta360 one x2 I bought only for creativity. I adding total of 5 mint video in 2h wedding....! Im shoot in night low light and multicolor lights Indoor, banquet hall nd resorts Sir my budget highly tight only 500$ i can only one select
I know this wasn't really a comparison of the X2 to the One R, but still, I'm wondering which to choose - what kind of photographer would choose one over the other? Or for what kind of shoot would either be better than the other? (I'm also thinking of drone-specific uses.) Thanks...
I think unless you want to spend $600+ on the OneR with the Leica lens and 1-inch sensor to get better image quality, then the X2 is the one to go with. Specs/features are almost identical, the design is easier to take with you and use handheld, the battery and water resistance are better. I think 360 videos as a whole have a ways to go as far as super clean, good image quality, but they're definitely fun to use and I like the X2 better than the OneR.
I am sorry if these have been answered. If you're editing on your phone and it's connected to WiFi, then how does it affect your data? One other question, adding music to your video is easy or are there copyright issues involved?
I haven't shot 360 any at all but I had a Flip video camera also. I couldn't understand why they didn't make accessories for it ( bar mounts, helmet mounts etc.) since it was a design clearly screaming for those things. Enter Go Pro a few years later.
Thanks! Question: if you put this camera on steady cam with one lens, and you use the invisible selfie stick, how do you turn that one lens towards you? It seems you cannot bend the camera in an angle from the selfie stick??
Well kind of the main idea is that you're always just capturing "360 degrees" and then in post you can point the camera wherever you want. But there is a mode where you can just record through one of the lenses (your choice) in regular wide angle 16:9. Also not sure what effect you'd get using it with a steady cam and selfie stick. The stabilization is pretty good handheld and the selfie stick wouldn't "get rid of" a steady cam below it.
Thanks for watching! Have much have y'all shot 360?
waiting for miracle, 360 camera drop from cloud
Just picked the camera up and I'm completely lost on what to do with it... Lol. This video is making me want to use it though.

Thanks, Adam!

Would be perfect for hiking, granted I'd use the selfie stick as a hiking pole half the time. :)
This looks like way too much fun! I think I gotta get one and roll outside on the snow like an idiot
The intro montage is great fun and entertaining. Thanks for the video. Very informative and balanced. Btw I don’t know how you survive such weather.
This was really well done. This kind of makes me want to take the jump into 360. That bullet time accessory as a string looks clutch. 🙌🏾
Finally an excellent review from CNET!
Great reviews from CNET lately because of the amazing hosts
Aw, thank you, Clint!
Didn't expect such legit kick flips from a tech reviewer. Nice job
how long have you had the new camera; one x2. looks like you went through three different sessions in your review? summer, autumn and winter
Only about a week and a half! Just had really insane weather. But the One R shots from the skatepark were over the summer.
Good review, thanks Mr.
Wow! This guy did a great job with the review! Nice video editing. Fun to watch and informative!

Perfect points.

The audio sounded bad after you put in water, no? Is it safe to just put in deep water?

Good job on the review. I have the older version and just decided to add the X2 for the waterproof as I do lots of shooting on the boat.
Amazing review, funny without being cheesy (TH-camrs just seem cheesy with their humour a lot of the time)
Does the insta 360 phone app need premium subscription for you to use all the built-in video templates/accessories?
How long are you able to record?
As most of 360 enthusiastic customers get disappointed with the X2 , do you have any idea if Theta Z2 will be introduced soon ❓
Promote this guy... in all parallel universes. Great review!
that's funny what you said about the Quarry. I have done the same questionable explorations of crazy locations, since buying a 360 camera. lol
