California recently is trying to pass a law that would allow people to press charges for calling the police unnecessarily. It's a little bit more intricate than that. You can get fined for calling 911 for no reason, but its really rare for the courts to actually go after them, unless its a prank call from what ive seen in the past. It should be more than a fine imo, and it should count for people calling for bs reasons
In the late 80s, I used to go out for coffee with friends at this little diner that had a payphone outside. Karens existed then too and would make use of that phone to call the cops for the worst reasons. My favorite was a woman that called the cops on the diner owner for having her car towed... For being parked in a handicapped spot. The cops were VERY appreciative of her call and gave her a ticket. When she balked at it they then charged her for a false call and abuse of the emergency number. The woman got so angry about the whole thing she started poking one of the officers and they gave her really pretty new bracelets and a chauffered tour of downtown to her lovely overnight accommodations. I can't speak for other places but in Texas, you can get in serious trouble for abuse of an emergency number.

It doesn't necessarily make them bad parents. It just means she's unsupportive of her dreams. Old school parents get unsupportive like that not because they want to genuinely hurt their child, but because they want them to be what they feel is practical so they don't struggle in life. I'm a writer and an artist. And yet, I was pushed to go to school for law, because my parents didn't want me to struggle in life. They wanted me to have a good job that pays good money so that I could do better than they do. And a lot of times, parents don't understand what opportunities are available nowadays because things today are possible when they weren't back then. Now someone CAN make a living as an artist or a writer thanks to stuff like the internet cutting out the middleman. It doesn't make the mother right for what she did. But to call it wholly malicious is to look at the situation through a black and white lens instead of trying to understand why she felt that way.
I was told to forgive my father for abusing me for 10 years because "its ur dad, ur related by blood" oh im sorry i didnt know sharing blood meant that i needed to accept abuse and just tolerate it and be ok with it?

In fairness depending on how the pen was offered to her the first time She might have thought that the pen was actually a gift so she took it without any bad intention. Only to discover later that it wasn’t. Taking into account that She didn’t make any scene, didn’t yell, didn’t claim it back or anything else I think that it was just a misunderstanding.

I worked at a deli where we had to initial the price tag on packs of meat (so if a karen complained, they'd know who to yell at) and we kept the pens by the scales. Some guy grabbed it right in front of me. So i finished his order, and played dumb going "huh, theres usually a pen here" and he sheepishly passes it over and i put it somewhere out of reach.
I had a desk close to the printer once but I employed my cat's method of clearing. I would look at something on my desk that didn't belong, stare at anyone around, and swipe it onto the floor. Also, if you left it unattended and I rolled over it with my work chair...that is also on you. My old colleagues think that is why I got my nickname as Aalycat. :D
If my family member had done like the mom in the last story, the next time I cooked for the family I would simply cook enough for everyone but them and when they complained I'd say " oh since said you said my food tasted like ( insert foul substance here) I decided not to put you through the ordeal of eating any more of it." And let them just sit there as everyone else glares at them.
I feel like the mother In the first one didn’t realize that she was only borrowing the pen in the beginning, but thought the principal gave it to her for her to keep, and then realized that she had made a mistake when she had to write on that thing that the principal would usually give to the kid (I can’t remember what it was called...) and she was embarrassed and that’s why she stormed off... is that just me or..?
Sometimes it’s just reflex I’ll think right before or after I’m done signing something thinking remember to get the pen back I’ll walk out to my car and realize it’s still in my hand
The last story reminded me how my wife always asks me to rate her cooking and whenever I say it's an 8 out of 10 she says why did you eat it then. I always reply I eat even when I cook and it's hardly a 6. Plus how is 8 a bad score? I mean either stop asking for my honest opinion or don't throw a tantrum when I give it.
If my child loved cooking & studying to be a chef or as a hobby, I’d be bragging to everyone I came across. Drive around with a giant car sticker announcing it, ‘my kid is an amazing cook/chef!’. Even if they were living out of the house I’d buy the food & pay them to cook for me. Personally, I feel when someone makes you a meal it’s a very special honour, sense of respect & gesture of kindness.
My husband's nephew brought his then gfriend (who absolutely despises me) to my in laws Xmas party. She looked at my toddler and said "Oh, she's gonna make a great homemaker one day". I was so shocked I couldn't respond. I've worked since I was 15. I'm now lucky enough to stay home with my kids instead of having them spend more time with strangers at daycare than myself. It's now about 4 years later, and she's asked me to watch her baby. I agreed to 2 months, it's been 5. Friday, when she picked up the baby, I told her I couldn't watch him anymore because I'm homeschooling my kids, and her brat makes that impossible. She's got a 4 yr old, and a 6 month old. I said "Since daycare will cost around $1,200 for both kids, your best bet would probably be to quit work and become a homemaker. I'm sure you'd be great at it and could teach Kenna to be a great one, too". She's hated me from the start, even lying to my in-laws to make them hate me, but now is sweet as pie. They call me Aunt OP, and "his second mommy" which makes me INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. Have fun staying home with your absolute horrible kids, chic. And please continue hating me because our lives were much more peaceful before you started kissing my arse.
unlike 95% of Karens, she didn't bawl him out, so not so bad. I really like this revenge though, as it brings to mind one of my favorite quotes, "nothing ruins righteous anger like realizing you were wrong".
Love the pen story. I used a pen on my professor's desk once, and kept it. A few weeks later I used the pen in her class. While strolling around the room she noticed the pen and said hey... I have a pen just like that. I said no you don't. LOL
Don't you just love moms that play the "I'll love and approve of you if...."? I just don't get it, I raised 7 kids full time (yours, mine and ours thing), plus on and off other people's kids that the parents couldn't care less about. Children, like animals, are blessings (And yes occasionally irritating), but also a source of constant amusement . We must all encourage, love and take care of all children and animals.
Dear R/slash not sure if you will get this but THANK YOU!! My husband and I love your channel we listen to you almost daily. It’s been a huge help for us. We have had a lot of stress over this past year. Bought a home, found out we are pregnant, covid hit, jobs became stressful and my pregnancy has been rough. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidium (severe morning sickness) been hospitalized twice. Your videos have been so helpful we just recently were going to have a 3 week vacation but the day before our basement flooded pretty bad. There is nothing we can do with suing the previous owner and it’s like a waterfall now everytime it rains. It was so bad that I ended up having a mental break. They called it an adjustment disorder because of all the stress and the traumatic event of our basement flooding. I got help and meds. I am doing better and although we won’t get revenge or stick it to this Karen. Who didn’t disclose this. Then also husband was grabbing items out of our car and our car was hit. Thank God he wasn’t hit but the car was a write off and we have had to try and get a car before baby comes and the pay out wasn’t very good. My husband also had to get help because of the stress. We enjoy your voice it’s so soothing and your videos just brighten us up. Help us to be great full. I know it’s going to be really expensive to fix our foundation and all but the really exciting news is I am 9 months pregnant and when I go into labour we plan on listening to your videos because it’s a great distraction. So thank you for all that you do and the content you create. We are subscribed and try to like every video to help support your channel. 💗💗💗

They're just thinking of their children's future as best they can with their own learned bias and experience. Being a chef is hard work and rarely pays out well enough to consider it a good career move while nurses are always in demand and are compensated fairly (in their mind) or lawyers getting big payouts even if they get few jobs. How many people go to culinary school and become a great chef with large salaries like Gordon Ramsey? 1 in a million. Sure, the parent can dream with their children that they might one day be able to make their dreams a reality, but the harshness of life leaves people bitter and they try to keep their children from feeling regret. It's misguided, because then that bitterness is turned toward the parent, but logical.

(4:55) Here in Brazil this client would be the favorite customer everywhere. There are places here that even have signs saying to "Please give us your penies". There were this grocery near my house that would even trade notes of money for penies.
14:06 I read a story about a newly wed couple, the wife would cook delicious food and everyone would compliment her but the husband will never! He will always tell her that it's bad and his sister or mom do it better. So she cooked what he likes, put it in containers and told him it was from his sister, he praised it soo much and said it's the best thing he ever ate and she should learn to do it like that. She told him what it is and he was very defensive so she left for her family home refusing to return. After many discussions with her family and his, she agreed to go back but on one condition, that she will never cook for him again. And so now when she cooks, she cooks for herself and if there were leftovers he will eat them with no complain what so ever.

I had a part time job in a news-agents. One customer would come in on a Sunday at 6am, and sort through all the newspapers, looking for perfect copies of whatever newspaper he wanted. I can’t remember what paper it was. No creases, no folds, taking pages or sections out of multiple papers, so he could get a perfect crease free copy, and leaving the results of his search for a perfect copy strewn across the floor for someone else to clear up, missing pages and section. Basically they were all now un-fit for sale. So, eventually my coworkers and I solved it. He would come to the till to pay, and we would fold his perfect newspaper, and bag it for him. Needless to say his perfect copy of the paper was now no longer perfect. Folded up and jammed into a bag. It worked, we did it twice and never saw him again
It's always 6 am whenever you post a video, I get done with my shower every morning and listen to this whenever I get ready to get on the computer for school, keep up the good work ✨

The story about people leaving objects on OP's desk reminded me of a job I had in the early 2000s. I had a small cubicle adjacent to my very popular supervisor's larger one (I'll call her Dana). Dana's cube had plenty of space and even a chair across from her, for "one-on-ones" with her subordinates. Also, like all the cubes in that workplace, it was open in front. Even so, some of Dana's friends would step into my cubicle to chat with her over the partition, rather than walking around to the open front of her cube, or sitting in the chair across from her. Luckily, it didn't happen that often, but it was annoying when it did.

There are pens with embarrassing sayings on them to help deter thieves. I've also seen people attach plastic spoons or flowers to deter thieves.

I had a desk close to the printer once but I employed my cat's method of clearing. I would look at something on my desk that didn't belong, stare at anyone around, and swipe it onto the floor. Also, if you left it unattended and I rolled over it with my work chair...that is also on you. My old colleagues think that is why I got my nickname as Aalycat. :D
If my family member had done like the mom in the last story, the next time I cooked for the family I would simply cook enough for everyone but them and when they complained I'd say " oh since said you said my food tasted like ( insert foul substance here) I decided not to put you through the ordeal of eating any more of it." And let them just sit there as everyone else glares at them.

I feel like the mother In the first one didn’t realize that she was only borrowing the pen in the beginning, but thought the principal gave it to her for her to keep, and then realized that she had made a mistake when she had to write on that thing that the principal would usually give to the kid (I can’t remember what it was called...) and she was embarrassed and that’s why she stormed off... is that just me or..?

I do that at times without knowing because i always carry around a blue pen in my pocket, and always take some other pens just out of reflex

The last story reminded me how my wife always asks me to rate her cooking and whenever I say it's an 8 out of 10 she says why did you eat it then.
I always reply I eat even when I cook and it's hardly a 6. Plus how is 8 a bad score? I mean either stop asking for my honest opinion or don't throw a tantrum when I give it.

If my child loved cooking & studying to be a chef or as a hobby, I’d be bragging to everyone I came across. Drive around with a giant car sticker announcing it, ‘my kid is an amazing cook/chef!’. Even if they were living out of the house I’d buy the food & pay them to cook for me. Personally, I feel when someone makes you a meal it’s a very special honour, sense of respect & gesture of kindness.

My husband's nephew brought his then gfriend (who absolutely despises me) to my in laws Xmas party. She looked at my toddler and said "Oh, she's gonna make a great homemaker one day". I was so shocked I couldn't respond. I've worked since I was 15. I'm now lucky enough to stay home with my kids instead of having them spend more time with strangers at daycare than myself. It's now about 4 years later, and she's asked me to watch her baby. I agreed to 2 months, it's been 5. Friday, when she picked up the baby, I told her I couldn't watch him anymore because I'm homeschooling my kids, and her brat makes that impossible. She's got a 4 yr old, and a 6 month old. I said "Since daycare will cost around $1,200 for both kids, your best bet would probably be to quit work and become a homemaker. I'm sure you'd be great at it and could teach Kenna to be a great one, too". She's hated me from the start, even lying to my in-laws to make them hate me, but now is sweet as pie. They call me Aunt OP, and "his second mommy" which makes me INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. Have fun staying home with your absolute horrible kids, chic. And please continue hating me because our lives were much more peaceful before you started kissing my arse.

Love the pen story. I used a pen on my professor's desk once, and kept it. A few weeks later I used the pen in her class. While strolling around the room she noticed the pen and said hey... I have a pen just like that. I said no you don't. LOL
Don't you just love moms that play the "I'll love and approve of you if...."? I just don't get it, I raised 7 kids full time (yours, mine and ours thing), plus on and off other people's kids that the parents couldn't care less about. Children, like animals, are blessings (And yes occasionally irritating), but also a source of constant amusement . We must all encourage, love and take care of all children and animals.

Dear R/slash not sure if you will get this but THANK YOU!! My husband and I love your channel we listen to you almost daily. It’s been a huge help for us. We have had a lot of stress over this past year. Bought a home, found out we are pregnant, covid hit, jobs became stressful and my pregnancy has been rough. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidium (severe morning sickness) been hospitalized twice. Your videos have been so helpful we just recently were going to have a 3 week vacation but the day before our basement flooded pretty bad. There is nothing we can do with suing the previous owner and it’s like a waterfall now everytime it rains. It was so bad that I ended up having a mental break. They called it an adjustment disorder because of all the stress and the traumatic event of our basement flooding. I got help and meds. I am doing better and although we won’t get revenge or stick it to this Karen. Who didn’t disclose this. Then also husband was grabbing items out of our car and our car was hit. Thank God he wasn’t hit but the car was a write off and we have had to try and get a car before baby comes and the pay out wasn’t very good. My husband also had to get help because of the stress. We enjoy your voice it’s so soothing and your videos just brighten us up. Help us to be great full. I know it’s going to be really expensive to fix our foundation and all but the really exciting news is I am 9 months pregnant and when I go into labour we plan on listening to your videos because it’s a great distraction. So thank you for all that you do and the content you create. We are subscribed and try to like every video to help support your channel. 💗💗💗

Jesus, why do parents discourage their kids from doing what they like and are good at?
They're just thinking of their children's future as best they can with their own learned bias and experience. Being a chef is hard work and rarely pays out well enough to consider it a good career move while nurses are always in demand and are compensated fairly (in their mind) or lawyers getting big payouts even if they get few jobs. How many people go to culinary school and become a great chef with large salaries like Gordon Ramsey? 1 in a million. Sure, the parent can dream with their children that they might one day be able to make their dreams a reality, but the harshness of life leaves people bitter and they try to keep their children from feeling regret. It's misguided, because then that bitterness is turned toward the parent, but logical.

(4:55) Here in Brazil this client would be the favorite customer everywhere. There are places here that even have signs saying to "Please give us your penies". There were this grocery near my house that would even trade notes of money for penies.

14:06 I read a story about a newly wed couple, the wife would cook delicious food and everyone would compliment her but the husband will never! He will always tell her that it's bad and his sister or mom do it better. So she cooked what he likes, put it in containers and told him it was from his sister, he praised it soo much and said it's the best thing he ever ate and she should learn to do it like that. She told him what it is and he was very defensive so she left for her family home refusing to return. After many discussions with her family and his, she agreed to go back but on one condition, that she will never cook for him again. And so now when she cooks, she cooks for herself and if there were leftovers he will eat them with no complain what so ever.

I had a part time job in a news-agents.
One customer would come in on a Sunday at 6am, and sort through all the newspapers, looking for perfect copies of whatever newspaper he wanted. I can’t remember what paper it was.
No creases, no folds, taking pages or sections out of multiple papers, so he could get a perfect crease free copy, and leaving the results of his search for a perfect copy strewn across the floor for someone else to clear up, missing pages and section. Basically they were all now un-fit for sale.
So, eventually my coworkers and I solved it.
He would come to the till to pay, and we would fold his perfect newspaper, and bag it for him. Needless to say his perfect copy of the paper was now no longer perfect. Folded up and jammed into a bag.
It worked, we did it twice and never saw him again

The story about people leaving objects on OP's desk reminded me of a job I had in the early 2000s. I had a small cubicle adjacent to my very popular supervisor's larger one (I'll call her Dana). Dana's cube had plenty of space and even a chair across from her, for "one-on-ones" with her subordinates. Also, like all the cubes in that workplace, it was open in front. Even so, some of Dana's friends would step into my cubicle to chat with her over the partition, rather than walking around to the open front of her cube, or sitting in the chair across from her. Luckily, it didn't happen that often, but it was annoying when it did.
