Thank you very much Zakk for this great video when we see you "struggle". It is very important to see that most of the time it is not that piece of cake as most of youtube videos seem to show. I propose a new series, "mixing challenge", or how to try to turn terrible stuff into good, I have a huge amount of trash material if you ask me lol. What you receive is too decent (:devil)

That’s mostly what I wanted to show in my videos which is why I don’t do any edits. Each course is my mixing process from start to finish. I just divide the videos into each instrument group... and yes I like challenges. What kind of music do you do?

@@MixChecks Well I have been influenced from many genres and music from the world, but though I have been to the conservatoire and educated by my parents with the rolling stones and the beatles, let us say currently I am more with huge guitars and dirty electro (this is simplistic example but you can check "the truth" from in flames where you could add prodigy sound, something like this :) ). But right now to learn mixing I have reproduced all tracks of a song from Megadeth called the killing road, so that it should be, in principle, easier to mix, as the reference track is just the original song. But I dont go anywhere, the more I try new versions the worse it goes :S Its been a month I am trying... The eq sounds terrible

@@johanjof5613 "the more I try new versions the worse it goes"... unfortunately that is really common. It's very easy to start overthinking when it comes to mixing and then you just start digging yourself into a hole you can't get out of.
I love metal though. Send me your "trash material" tracks. I'll give them a listen.
      Which DAW do you use?

@@MixChecks Yeah I am giving myself a last chance to improve this mix, before send it to you. I hope I can send to you something not that rubbish for your ears. Thank you very much for the help. I am working with Cakewalk. I use that because at the time I started using DAWs it was the best one concerning staff view, which I use a lot (I had a lot of hardware MIDI at that time). It is true that nowadays the other DAWs have improved and CW nearly has no change since 10 years ago on this part, but you know how much time it takes to get used to one DAW... I wish CW had this ergonomic way to extend the note duration like for e.g. in Reaper or PT. This is the only thing where CW is behind in the staff view. I am gonna ask the devs to do it now that this daw is free or I may propose to implement it myself if they agree.

@@johanjof5613 I'm the same way with Logic. Been using it for so many years, it would be hard to up and switch.
