    Amazing how you sculpted it, i could really hear the SSL's eq this time! I've struggled to pick out what its doing in the previous series.
    I got the 4000 G with plugin alliance's holiday coupons. Its my first console and "serious" mixing plugin other than the stock one in my daw. Propably wouldn't have gotten it if it wasnt for you! I feel like its still out of my league ear-wise, but the plan is to grow with it and learn to hear what its doing as i use it.
    Do you prefer the 4000 E? I saw you have all three, but dont remember if you used them in your other videos.

      Cool! Just making upgrades one step at time. That’s the way to go ;)
      Yes I use the E. It’s the one that I’ve seen in a lot of well known mixers studios, including my favorite, Chris Lord-Alge. However, the G has a special place in my heart because it’s the console we used and learned on in school.

      @@MixChecks Do you mean the real G? If so, do you think one learns better with a real one, or does it work just as well with an emulation?

      @@phlsnst5882 Yep. A real SSL 4000 G.
      If you're trying to understand signal flow, then yes I believe a real console is better. In DAWs, you never have to think about patch bays and inserts the way you do on a real console. Just think, you're in a studio with a console in front of you and an 1176 compressor in the rack behind you. You want to put the compressor on the vocal channel. How do you do it?
      It's not just a click and drag like it is in a DAW ;)

    when i live streaming, i can't hear the kick.. it's like dissapear :O my kick sound mud like 'bup.. bup.. bup..' (very smol) I put foam in it, then on the head kick where the beater hit I put cloth too, does that affect? i've gain up the volume, but nothing change, should i boost the low freq kick on mixer? or anything to get my kicks heard?

    • @MixChecks
      @MixChecks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have a link to your livestream where I can listen? I wouldn’t put cloth on the beater side. The attack of the kick comes from the slap of the beater hitting the drum head.

      Yes, I think there are 2 things you’re fighting against right now:
      1. The mix is in mono so everything is in the middle competing with the kick and masking it.
      2. The EQ of the kick. It needs more attack in the high end 4kHz and up. Make sure the mic is pointing at the beater and that there’s nothing blocking it. Also, if the beater is hitting cloth you can remove that.

      You can keep the pillow/blanket inside the drum. Just push it up against the beater side head.
