  • In this video, we enjoy Leavenworth Washington food and hiking the Colchuck Lake trail. Leavenworth Washington is a great place to visit especially in the summer, Leavenworth also has a great food scene.
We start our day off by parking in the public parking lot on the far end of town, This is a great place to stay one night if you are RVers. Then we make a tough decision on where to eat in Leavenworth Washington. There are many options for great food in Leavenworth Washington, so we decided to eat at the Andreas Keller restaurant. Andreas Keller is well known for their Bavarian atmosphere, great German food, and accordion music. But there are so many great restaurants in Leavenworth we wish we could have tried all of them.
The following day we hiked Colchuck lake trail. This trail brings you up to the incredible enchantments of mountains. Colchuck Lake is just 4.5 miles up the trail, colchuck lake trail has many waterfalls along the way and magnificent views. We highly recommend starting your hike to Colchuck Lake nice and early if possible.

We went backpacking at the end of the road into Alpine Lakes Wilderness in 1978 when our daughter was three weeks old and her brother was 16 months old for five days.

Travel Ice cycle Canyon Road to the end. It’s definitely worth while!! There is also Tumwater Canyon. To the north is Lake Wenatchee with Glacier View Campground and the Plain Hardware Store and Gift Shop.

Maybe someone went to Solvang and decided a Bavarian theme would save the town. I would love to see it!

We love Leavenworth! Have you thought about getting something like the Trail Magik carrier for backpacking? We're getting them for our boys for their birthday so we can both carry full packs. We're hoping it'll be really nice when they start hiking some on their own so we can give them breaks in the carrier without having to have an entire child carrier pack with us.

It's such a fun little town. Yes we have looked into the trail magic they seem like a good option especially since he's walking a lot now. We typically slow down on the backpacking in the winter, but you never know!

My favorite spot in WA is Colchuck. Been there 12 times and each time has been a different experience. So beautiful.
IMO you missed out going to the super touristy restaurants. Icicle brewery is my #1 spot for a good beer and pretzel. Not German themed but it’s named after the River at the Colchuck trailhead and the beers are named after places in the enchantments or outdoor activities. For food we usually hit the hotdog place in the middle of town which is a little bit touristy but honestly has great food for not too expensive. Lastly the bourbon maple latte at J5 is a must!
In my latest full length adventure video we stay at Colchuck for 3 days and hit all the food and beer spots in the vid. The trip was a blast!
I am currently editing a trip from the following summer where we went up the back side and stayed at upper snow lake… it was pretty memorable too!
Good on your guys for getting out there with the kiddo! Cheers! 🤙🏽

Yeah, a lot of times those bulletin boards are not very helpful about what passes let you stay for free or at a discount. Colchuck Lake is in a national forest so the America the beautiful pass should allow the holder to stay ( or park ) for free. I stayed at a campground in that forest where a retired couple stated that the camp host said the pass gave them a 50% discount, so that’s what I paid. I would think that since it’s a federal pass local governments can’t alter what the pass says.
