Hiking Colchuck Lake - Washington's most popular lake in the snow!

Colchuck Lake is one of Washington's most popular day hikes, this is one of the lower lakes in the Enchantments and is a gorgeous lake offering views of some of Washington's tallest peaks. In the middle of May I hiked up in the early season to beat the crowds and see this place with some snow. Enjoy!
Please be aware that conditions in the Enchantments change drastically, especially during changing seasons, and snow levels will fluctuate year to year

Nice hike Bonnie! Colchuck Lake is a good one to do. I have been up down Asgard Pass and it is steep and long. I have also climbed Dragontail and Colchuck Peaks from the lake. Just going up the Colchuck Glacier gives you a nice perspective. It is a fun glissade down too! Thanks Bonnie!

I agree. That hike up Colchuck glacier is stupendous. Then such a simple stroll to the top of Colchuck peak. The lake is literally straight down.
We did it in June and all had ice axes, solid snow (not slidy), and multiple people to share in kicking steps. Just be aware that people have had falls down the snowfield and so it's not a great beginner trek.

Im going for the first time in 2 days is the trail noticable ? im aware of the junction split

The trail is very clear ans well trodden, and the split is marked by a sign on a tree. I recommend having a gps map to be safe but it's a fairly easy trail to navigate. Have fun!
