Are you going to plaster the brick part of the water mill. Whit washed plaster will really compliment the original stone portion. All your hard work is really paying off...it’s just coming along so great. The clearing really is revealing many treasures.❤❤❤❤❤

The plastic would hold down the weeds that can grown in a garden and if that'w what was growing there I pretty sure that's why for the plastic. In the States, people put plastic down in their veggie gardens plus the flower beds - to keep weeds from taking over. - So happy Drew got everything fixed and back on road and now is home in Portugal. Love ya both.......

Hey Drew, I just got back home from Punta Gorda FL. I drove straight thru back home to Eureka Springs AR. 19 hours.... I am 68 so I had confidence you can make it to Michigan A-OK. Love watching all your adventures, Blessing for you both.
TBH you'd probably be fine leaving all your stuff there unattended, Portugal is a safe country ESPECIALLY on the country side, in the village where my grandparents lived everyone left their doors unlocked and stuff outside, no one ever touched anything that wasn't theirs and they used to share everything and gift each other a bit of their harvest like a big family, even if they didn't have much.
I miss that place, now the old people there are dying off and it's getting deserted.

My great grandmother's family was also from the Azores too! My grandfather was from Lisbon!

Roundabouts are the best, if all drivers know how to use them (which I know in European countries they do, cause we’re taught in driving school). They’re starting to put some in here in New Mexico, but so many have no clue how they work.

In your bedroom ceiling, that is the t-bars and concrete bricks like you set the water tank on. But I would work on the outside of the house also. Finish cleaning the brush and make sure the roof doesn't leak.
We visited Naples Florida the week after Easter. I was amazed by the damage and the rebuilding.

Brittany you did a good job cleaning the terraces of rubbish while Drew was away
I am 78 and when I was younger I found out I have a “completion strategy personality” what that means is if I start a project I have to finish it! But luckily a friend told me when I was in my 20 that I should prepare for when I reach my 50s I will not have the same energy so learn to take projects in “elephant bites” so now when I have to clean the house my “elephant bites” are one room at a time. If I can complete that it is a good day. I have a very large yard and love cutting the grass but it takes me 3 days most times using an electric push mower. If I have the energy to do it in two then I celebrate the win but I don’t push myself. So just know that day will come and setting projects in “elephant bites” is a good thing to learn to do at your age. Of course your “bites” are larger than mine but by taking the ‘bites’ we can celebrate a job done for the day!!!

I have always wondered how a neighborhood rebuilds and survives after these horrific natural catastrophes...nobody really ever shows that and you did...thank you so much to you and your dad for explaining how it all works. Drew you did a great job getting alternator fixed. I use a Noco Genus lithium battery charger on 110 volts until fully charged then no load on alternator.
Maybe they put plastic on top of the soil to kill weeds and grass over a large area?
Man to see you change the alternator is stellar. I got ripped off 2500.00 - serpentine belt broke and broke? The alternator too? Solo female vanlife-at the mercy of mankind.

Great episode. You guys were all over the place. Watching those hurricane shots still gives me goosebumps, so sad, but the city is beautifully coming back. My husband took that Azores flight back in Fall, got stuck there for 2 days due to heavy fog, he said "never again". 😁. Boots and bikinis while doing yard work. Never thought of that. Good for you! 😄
