0:44 you don't engineer lightweight alloys to lightweight, as they themselves have no weight. You always engineer them to heavy duty + deep plating. It theoretically increases your bulkheads mass, but 0 times anything is still 0, so you're betting free integrity.
You'll surely get to Colonia. Apart from the already mentioned before I'd pick D rated thrusters and distro for the jump range, important when you use the neutron highway. In case you really need repairs, check the Colonia Highway, a project with a bunch of space stations between the bubble and Colonia. The ship looks amazing, but I'd pick an Anaconda or Krait Phantom for the fuel scoop speed and AFMU. I'd even prepare the conda in the bubble to unlock all engineers in Colonia. Be sure to buy some 1D Shield Generators to mail back to the bubble. You won't find them anywhere else. Check the increasing concentration of stars on your way. Even the lighting gets stronger in planets at night. Looks like the night under the full moon. On your way back I strongly recommend you visit Sagittarius A*, the massive black hole in the center of our galaxy. O7
2:01 you don't need weapons - you're in a paper ship anyway, and they're just excessive mass And yes, escaping gankers is possible even in a paper ship, but you need to have shields, and start charging FSD as soon as possible.
Luchtaine (in the Colonia nebula) is the home of my Explorer alt. I have a carrier out there, and often do short exploration trips. 3 ship jumps in my DBX will get me unexplored systems, first footfalls and first discoveries for planets and exobiology.
1000 light years below the galactic plane, in a large torus shape centred on the galactic bulge and which reaches nearly to Colonia, are huge fields of black holes. All different sizes - some even with no exclusion barrier, so you can get the "singularity" right below your ship's cabin or in front of its nose if you want... it's great to jump into Supercruise from one, and see the sky turn inside-out...
A 4t cargo rack is good enough for synthesising limpets. The heat sink launcher could be light weight engineered (so could point defence) as you can always synthesise more heat sink ammo.
Nicely done. Amazing how easy you made that look. 3 hours is insane! Of course, you cannot claim you've visited Colonia unless you've visited Jagues😛 I once travelled to Colonia without a fuel scoop! Using only economical routes in a stock ship, refuelling only at stations along the way. I estimated 2 months to complete but it took me well over a year with over 6000 jumps. 🤯I made a short vid of the routing before leaving the bubble. Fly safe o7
You might want to stop by Skaude AA-A h294 on the way back - it's about half-way along. "This incredible system (also known as 'Collection of Wonders') contains two black holes, a ringed M-class star, a ringed white dwarf, and a ringed neutron star. The M-class star is one of the largest known stellar bodies containing a ring system. A tourist beacon is set up near the M-class star."
Welcome to Colonia. I took a wandering path here, exploring systems and gathering biological data as I went in A DBX like yours. It took me three weeks and I made a small fortune to boot. Awesome trip.
And power distributor - go with 4D and engine focused with super capacitors. You don't need a 4A unless you are running laser weapons and plan on combat. Personally I run 4D thrusters with dirty drag drive on a DBX, but if you find the extra speed fun and don't mind losing a bit of jump range, its OK. The scaled down power distro and thrusters means I can run a 3A power plan with grade 1 low emissions and thermal spread to keep the heat down.
1:48 just so you know, when you synthesize the limpets, you always get four. No more, no less... Unless you have lower cargo capacity, then the excess just vanish
1:09 and you usually don't need cluster capacitors, as you always prefer the recharge rate over capacity, unless the capacity is too low to allow for modules for work (ie you can't boost)
Also, apply mass manager experimental effect to your DBX FSD. It gets better jump range than deep charge and uses less fuel. Deep charge can be better on lower mass ships with smaller FSDs.
0:56 with FSD that's class 4 or higher use mass manager, it increases your jump range more than deep charge, and makes your dad more fuel efficient, which means you can jump longer without refueling
Nice ship! Deepcharge on your fsd only below module size 5. Fromt 5 upwards mass manager gives you more range. Plus power plant cant be repaired. Some more integrity for neutron highway is always good. GG
About jetcone scooping, I recently discovered that you can use SCO to escape the jetcone... just don't do it while pointing anywhere near the star's exclusion zone!
It would take a lot more time with the carrier. 15min before and 5 min after it (if I remember correctly) for 500ly. Over 20 jumps is like 7-8 hours, and you don't do anything else. Plus fuel costs.
Haven't seen any videos for a while.. glad to see you advancing.. I haven't been to colonia yet.. smart to start with a carrier jump before using DBX was thinking of parking carrier along the way for others to stop by if they needed repairs or to restock.. carrier is covered for next 10 years... it could also be used as respawn point. Can you add to details how long trip was? thx 4 posting.
This method of travelling to Colonia is tempting, but I think I've made up my mind on kiting my carrier out there. I feel like i would want to take the time checking out some of those nebulas along the way, fly one of my exploration ships around in like a 500-1k ly area and call the carrier my way type of thing. Either way it's gonna be awhile, I still have to get the Guardian modules taken care of, which I'm not looking forward to. And I have a new player friend that I'd want to bring along on the carrier. He's got some decent exploration kit but he's not quite there yet in terms of being ready to make use of a trip out there, i.e. not far along with engineering at all aside from Farseer.
And you won't need weapons. But do fit at least a 3D shield. Each time you land you lose a little hull integrity if you don't have a shield. High G planet landings are also very risky without a reasonable shield.
If you use galaxy plotter instead of neutron you get different results for the galaxy search and i will show you and plan for you fuel stars / trips and of curse it will take a bit longer to you destination
Engineering light alloy armour - In the game light weight alloy armour has zero mass. Applying heavy duty deep plate engineering this applies a mass multiplier to increase mass... usually. But multiplying the zero mass of light weight alloy with heavy duty deep plate engineering still means zero mass. It's "space magic" 😅 So scrap the light weight engineering and apply heavy duty deep plate instead.
What a ride! I plan to do this with my good friend in the future, as we all need to get to Colonia at some point, what a great video foxy I was glued to the screen! What troubles await you we will have to wait for part two? 🤔 🫡

FYI: Mass manager would have given you more range (by a small amount) than Deep Charge fpr Class 5 .

11:20 if the star is this far, it's usually better and faster to just go to the neighbouring system
Indeed. I learned that the hard way.

without a fuel scoop, that was insane! You are bolder than me.
Lol, I was watching your fuel drop when you tried to supercharge to the fuel star hoping you'd notice the usage before needing the fuel rats.
You know cmdr Cymrus, One of these days I shall go to the edge of the galaxy and then call the fuel rats...lol

I've been though this system a few times and there's always been at least one fleet carrier with basic services available there.
This trip was my business trip, next time I will be sure to visit this place you mentioned.
Welcome to Colonia. I took a wandering path here, exploring systems and gathering biological data as I went in A DBX like yours. It took me three weeks and I made a small fortune to boot. Awesome trip.
Welcome to colonial foxy, you have to bring your fleet carrier and set up shop…
one day

BTW if you ever run out of fuel, call the Fuel Rats! It's what they do.

he's back!
You might wanna take another afm to use backup generator in case of you lost class 3 afm.
got it
First time watcher of your channel and I just reinstalled the game since over a year ago. I'm interested again.
I am glad.
Just an FYI- lightweight armor doesnt weigh anything, and you can put heavy duty on it and it doesnt increase the weight :)
About jetcone scooping, I recently discovered that you can use SCO to escape the jetcone... just don't do it while pointing anywhere near the star's exclusion zone!
learned it the hard way
Why not jump the Fleet Carrier? Or use a long range Anaconda? That trip brings back many happy memories of ED. Bon Voyage! o7

I actually looked it up, it's much worse. 45 jumps, 15 hours and 3100 units of tritium.
I'm just coming back from Sag A* what a good trip
300+ Jumps btw
Wonderful

Don't worry, more video will come about this trip

When I flew my carrier there I'd set up the 500 ly jump, and then fly the same route in my DBX scanning along the way.
9:08 visual bug, don't worry about it
3:56 if you're still there - unlock the rest of them as well, if possible.
I already did, and more videos about this trip will come

space magic , I love it.
Lightweight alloy has no mass so engineering ist for lightweight makes no sense. You can go with Heavy Duty Deep Plating without losing Jumprange.
good to know, thx!
Kudos for not taking the carrier.

more parts coming.
