First Mandalay Exploration Build: 91 Ly Jump Range | Elite Dangerous [4K]

- ***Guys I totally forgot to put a size 5 Guardian FSD Boosters on the ship, and if I do so, the max jump range for this build is 91.06ly. And the build link is not available yet at the publish of the video but I will add it later. o7
I totally forgot to put the Guardian FSD Booster in this video, so if I do so, the max jump range for this build is 91.06 ly instead of 80 ly. Just want to make this correction right here. o7
You can also get by with a 16T fuel tank, rather than 32T. That will improve your jump distance too. I've travelled the galaxy and have never been caught out, especially if you plan your routes via fuel stars only.

I dislike pointing at the unladen jump range because it won't ever happen unless you're out of fuel. In which case you're not jumping anyways. That said, I managed nearly 82 LY (81.87) with a full tank of gas, SRV bay, repair limpet, and shield, and I'm sure it can be pushed farther if I was to sacrifice more thrust.
Came here to say just that you should be using the current not the unladen.
It’s very confusing I agree, no idea why people use unladen. It’s not practical.

It's how stats work. You could just as easily say we shouldn't bother ever sharing our jump range because it's different every jump.
Unless you're traveling to the outer edge of the galaxy, 50ly is fine
And here I was thinking I was doing good with my 60ly jump range. I'm halfway to the center and I'm loving this new ship. This is also my first experience with SCO FSD and I'm never going back!
You don’t need any farther jump range out there than that except for getting home quickly. That big jump range comes in handy way out or way up/down the galactic plane where stars are extremely far apart.
Jeez ED has come such a long way, I wish I could play odyssey new ships looking SUPER COOL , next step for fdev is ship interiors
I was actually hoping the big new feature revealed yesterday was the ship interior, but it is not.

Frontier doit tout axer sur la colonisation de la galaxie et proposer enfin de la faune et de la flore sur certaines planètes ! Une fois que tu auras fait le tour de l'intérieur de ton vaisseau, tu commenceras à trouver le temps long ...

82 without SRV, 5D drag drives, 4D efficient shields, 3D engine focus distributer, 2A OC power plant, everything light weighted etc. 430 cruise 537 boost!
Yep thats exactly where I left off, all optionals used, reasonable armor, bumpable shields. Simply not worth doing anything less unless you are doing a quick colonia run.
I picked this ship up also. Really nice. So great to have a wicked jump range. (and lot's of guns). Been playing SC and realizing just how good elite is. Picked up the Type 8 and this ship which are peanut compared to any SC ship. Just realizing how complex the builds can get.

Supercruise Overcharge on this ship is great, yesterday I went to visit Voyager probe in Sol. Overcharge was running for 1.5mil Ls with stable temp. at 58 degrees. I turned it off when I had around 20% of fuel left. I'm using one additional class 3 fuel tank though.

I've just got mine to 92.47 LY. 370 with Neutronstar. I love this ship. It runs so cold you can park it above a star.
The boost on the Mandalay feels like a lion kicking you in the back. I think I’m going to turn mine into a railgun boat.
I'm one of those who grinded for Guardian FSD booster and Guardian power plant, I have my ice cold DBE slightly engineered with 65ly jump range laden for 18kk credits, and I ride it to hunt for f cactuses with no issues ) I have a fleet of 3bln in total, but in 90% cases I use only Cutter, Conda and DBE. I'm not sure I'm ready for the new "asian" design, but thanx for the review. May be I'll try it out.
Your jump range isn't 80 Ly, it's 73. Using the "max" reading is terrible because that is with the ship completely dry, and if your ship is dry, you ain't jumping.
absolutely correct, plus in the title he says "91 ly" instead 80 (that is incorrect value anyway) just for clicks.

My Mandalay get 78ly but its not fully engineered. I wanted to go back to colonia but im hanging around the bubble for colonization.
do you have a configuration saved somewhere? from the clip I can't seem to manage to do it with such a jump... (I mention that I'm about at the beginning of the road in this game)
put a 4c fuel tank in place of the 5c and you get another 4 ish LY. Doesn't affect your jumps too much as you can easily regain the fuel with a 6a fuel scoop
just a little correction, "unladen" doesn't mean empty, it is with enough fuel for one jump. so you can make that max jump, just make sure you can scoop fuel at target :) /edit it should have been a reply to a thread below, dunno how it ended here.
I got myself the Mandybut will not be sacrificing too many things because i want to use it for exobio exploration. 60LY is my goal.
BTW, I CAN'T stand the gankers. I'm so happy that in SC, murder hobos ellicit a very negative reposnse from the community.
I only play solo to deprive these jerks of the satisfaction.

This ship is an absolute monster when G5 engineered for speed.
Its difficult to work out when wanting jump range & manageability. Boost is something I really rate, Getting away from mass etc. If you stick a 4D Distributor in & charge enhance to engines. I think personally its alot better. I strip down most of my components also

with high rep, you can get 50mil cr missions that only take a cargo trip or two (in a Cutter) - just don't do the Tritium ones! they require some 49mil spent on Tritium to complete xD
Another method if you have a good jumper ship and dont mind a semi boring and RNG (not really) gameplay loop is exo-biology. Its how ive been making billions, and if you know what to look for it isnt that hard.

I made literally 2 billion in one trip from doing biological sites in Odyssey, two day trip. First discovery bio sites are incredibly lucrative, giving hundreds of millions per I believe. Problem is its INCREDIBLY boring and draining, you will lose your mind doing it.
Hey, how did you get the little dot in the middle of your screen?? I THOUGHT I had that at the beginning (about 5 hours play time) But I can't find it in the options so I can get it back. Right now, I have a very small triangular piece of sticker on my tv screen where the dot USED to be. How can I get it back?? Anyone?

Picked one up today as well from in game ARX, nice ship, partially engineered it up to about 75 ly, took it for a spin and the great thing was I can scoop and charge for the next jump and not exceed 70% heat, high speed travel. I also like the ramp on the front landing gear and you can walk all the way to the door but why won't it open rather then the blue circle?
go for a 4c fuel tank you can get about 5-7 more ly in jump
then you can't use the SCO.

@@Divamage no, you will run out of fuel with a 4c fuel tank in SCO most likely.
Only grade 4 lightweight life support. You need to visit Etienne Dorn in Colonia for that grade 5.

It is possible he got disconnected, but also the mandalay is super fast, I was boosting right after I dropped in
I just reinstalled Elite so I went to the Frontier store to see how much they sell ships for, and holy cow are they cheap compared to star citizen ships! I guess there is no interior, but still.
clean drives is basicially a scam. Completely pointless even on stealth ships id argue. Especially useless on an explorer. Wont affect your heat in supercruise
Even worse, clean drives make your SC hotter. Something to do with their power draw.

They're not a scam, people just don't understand what they are for. They have their uses but not here in an explorer. Useful in burning stations or if you are overheating while flying above a planet surface.
@@mertar3608 They only add 1% to your overall heat, otherwise clean drives have nothing to do with your heat in SC.

Dirty Drives supposedly run cooler in SC than Clean, so perhaps consider that,

You need to change the title... you didn't make a 91ly jump range build. Though I read the above description.
However, being new to exploring and don't have much engineering, what sort of build would you recommend, I don't really care about maxing out the Jump range.
The title is just fine. As I said in this video this build is to test and push this ship to utter limit to see the best jump range that I can make. If to recommend to new players with a non-engineered build, that will be a different video.

The Mandalay is just as boring as disgustingly good she is.
And the dry Jump Range is kind of a fake benchmark. Nobody travels constantly with with just enough fuel for one jump.
