- You can program the mirrors not to automatically fold in after locking in CX5 GT w/ Premium, GTR and Signature as well as CX9 GT and Signature. This can be found in the Owners Manual.

Thanks for this. Shame on Mazda for A) designing a folding mirror system that doesn't work when it gets cold and B) providing poor instructions for a ridiculous FIVE STEP procedure for cancelling the auto-folding sequence.
Thanks for sharing, I owned a 2020 CX5 just only have 15k km on it. My passengers side mirror start have issues doesn't close. Bring your Mazda to the dealers before the warranty. I got a new one replaced.

update for this same sequence no changes to procedure, but I will let you know that the door lock switch is the one that will active mirrors to pull in and when held for 10 seconds it will beep to confirm you have programmed it, the holding of the unlock switch will need to be for 10 seconds to deactivate, but will not beep to confirm, please let me know if you have more questions thanks for watching
Thanks James, I just did this for a 2019 CX9 GT, the online manual should be updated with this info as it is currently wrong. Using the lock button and waiting for the beep is a much better way to do this. Again thanks for the video. Edit: 2019, not 18.

Yeah have a 2019 cx5 touring and tried this but doesn’t work 😖 my manual says it has the feature and I do hear a beep when I hold down all buttons for 7 secs but nothing happens. Thanks for this vid!
I don’t mind the side mirrors folding, but in winter ice can make it get stuck.

Worked on my 2019 cx5 then as soon as I took the parking brake off to drive the car it stopped workin and every time I lock it they fold in again 😢
Hey James I have Mazda 2019 cx-5 sport. My car has this feature called mirrors with manual folding. I’m wondering if my two side mirrors can still fold like ones showing the video?
indeed you have the folding manually but the syncro motors are not part of the sport trim to automatically fold them in, sorry nice ride though!

Mazda wants to compete with the premium brands but this is proof that it is not there yet. Close, but not there.

2022 Premium plus models, older models GT with Premium Package adds the power folding mirrors, You will have an extra insignia by the mirror switch if equipped, thanks and safe travels!
Hi james, i have a mazda cx5 2013 with automatically folding mirrors but they won't close if i lock the car.

unfortunately it only came out in about 2020 nice ride though!!
I guess this worked in some variants but I tried this in the 2022 CX 5 AWD Turbo and it DID NOT WORK... the only way to power fold them is to turn the control knob 180 deg with the dot at the 6 o'clock before you get out and lock the doors.

Hilary Langlois you follow the same steps only use the lock button to determine the function lock for folding, unlock to not hope this helps

M J you shouldn’t have to that was just to display, I will confirm tomorrow, if it’s icey I don’t like to stress any motors that pull them in or to lessen any reserve power required in the cold, not necessary in most cases but just a motor maintenance thing:) safe travels!

Fyke Sol hi 👋 is the diesel version you have fully loaded like a signature? I can’t say for sure it was available for your market area likely would have operated that way from the factory

Although the Sales agent said it doesnt come with that feature, i am still hoping that this will work, like a hidden feature. Havent tried it yet.

😂😂😂 you have a physical button on the driver's door panel, so using it, you can set the mirrors are folded, unfolded or they are automatically folding after locking the doors.

Japan might be different but gt should be, not positive, do they fold when you lock it?
