Thank you for this video. My passenger mirror has stopped winding all the way back out immediately after a car wash so good to hear the explanation and fix.
Successfully applied WD-40 from a can that has a long spray tube. With remote control, moved mirror to extreme lower outside position. Close to the car door, I looked down behind the mirror. Using flashlight, located the two grommets shown in video (behind the mirror) and sprayed WD-40 into them. After a few operations, the mirror holder folded ok again.
Thank you brother from Cyprus. I took my car to the car wash today, and after i left i had this problem and the mirrors didn't work, I've done what you showed in the video and the problem gone ! I have Mazda 2 2019 Now they work normal Thanks a lot 🙏🙏
Thanks man! Worked like a charm on my cx5 2020! Like many others, I didn’t have to unmount the mirror, I just set it to the lowest position on the left, the gap between the frame and the mirror was more than sufficient to see the rubber grommets and reach them with the wd40 extension tube. After closing/opening the mirror around 15 times and helping it to complete the full rotation with the light pressure of my hand, it started to work again by itself!
@@vf464 most likely pressure washing. I clearly remember targeting the mirrors intensively, never caused any problem to my other cars. Strangely only the left mirror was affected, even if I washed both.
Yes, it works but I recommend you use Silicone WD40. The 'silicone' lubes all the moving parts. Every couple of months, I squeeze the straw between the glass and mirror housing giving a good spray whilst wiggling the straw about. My 2017 CX-5 mirrors still work as good as new.
Thanks, having CX-5 2017, Right mirror opens up at 30-50%, after 4-5 attempts it opens on 100%. I am going to apply your approach, hope it will work. I want my mirrors folding mechanism working back again.
i actually managed to find the holes by using a wd-40 which comes with a narrow plastic hose so it can actually work without removing the mirror. Make sure it's the water resistant type! Yes, my wife is very happy with me.
Great video. Mazda mirrors are terrible, always fill up with water, its beyond belief they cant make them waterproof with a seal. i have 2018 CX5 and mirrors have failed TWICE. So THANK YOU! for this video, i dont have to go to official Mazda garage and get fleeced for 250 Euros now (by mechanics who dont care and scuffed my mirror up when it was in for last repair)
You need to be spraying wd-40 water resistant silicone and not the regular wd-40 as it will act more like a cleaner or degreaser and not a lubricant which is what you need for these mirrors.
Thanks for helpful video and advices. I did as described in the video and everything is working well. To mention that I first tried spraying without taking the mirror off an it had no effect.
if it still wobbles in one direction it's because you havent connected one of the white drive pins to the back of the mirror. pull the mirror off again and realign the pins to the hole son the back of themmirror and press in quite hard until you hear it snap into place
@@Imenijebitno108 had this issues for about a year now. The mirror engine just keeps running, not finding its "end stop". My fix: I've just put the control knob in between "in" (retract) and "out" (fold out) so that it doesn't run at all. It's a stupid fixed, but it keeps things quiet at least
@@CAWINC Can you share a picture of how you did this? Trying to do this also but seems like i need to stick a paper clip or something to keep it in place
I filmed this with my phone with one hand. Didn't have a stand and wasn't going to risk fucking up my mirror and filming. Also I used the exact same hard to read diagram to figure out. Not my fault you don't understand them. Thanks for watching and if you can make a better video please do so yourself. Cheers

Very helpful thanks a lot. Such a reliable brand having such stupid problem is unbelievable

Thank you, tried it today and it seems to have worked. Had to run the fold in and out a few times to grease up the joints and flush the water out

Hi Thomas , did you take the mirror out or just spray inside
@sonnylim3299 Hello, firstly I try just to spray without taking off the mirror but didn't work, so after I took the mirror and I sprayed and worked

Hey, I too had issues with my 2020 cx5 wing mirror opening/closing functionality. Do you know what caused your mirror to start playing up?
@@vf464 most likely pressure washing. I clearly remember targeting the mirrors intensively, never caused any problem to my other cars. Strangely only the left mirror was affected, even if I washed both.
Had the same issue! Hoping silicone Wd40 will fix it like yours did

can put a video to show how you did it?
Hehehe 😂😂😂 I'm a about to endeavor on said mission i.e.: without removing the mirror (s) 🫡

Ahaaa 🫡 This is an excellent mention 🖖🏾😎
I’m no scientist but regular dw40 is already a lubricant, rust preventive, penetrant and moisture displacer. I am interested in moisture displacer.

safer and easier to take the plastic cover off the mirror assembly than the mirror itself, it just clips off
Worked like a dream, cheers. Bad design though.
Solid video sir!
I did this, and it worked great, but when I snapped the mirror back in, it still wobbles. How do I securely fasten it back in place?

I did have this stupid problem with my Mazda 3 after the first wash.
You are a hero
Seems like mine are a bit to loud. Don't know it's normal or not?
My mirrors only work when I wash the car. ? but I will give it a go with wd40
Lucky my mirror stopped working whilst the the car was under warranty and was replaced for free,
Thank you!
Thank you. 👍
I've got a similar problem on my CX3 but the motor continuously runs when the engines running - will this solve the problem?

Use SILICONE WD40, not ordinary WD40.
Found it
Try and put your hand in there. thats realiy confident and technical NOT
You pulled the mirror out but didn't record yourself doing it - instead providing a hard to read diagrams-- useless 😮😮😮😮

I think this is the worst explanation i have ever found on youtube...
Explain you better.

Vs the other videos that just spray blindly behind. Guess you can make your own vid and show us all then.
