    Thank you Jonathan for all your great and informative videos about the CX-5! Thanks to your videos, we are now the very happy owners of new 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring, with the Premium package. Very fun and responsive car to drive.... perfect for our needs!I had a hip replacement surgery two weeks after purchase so, for the time being, my wife is the only one driving it. Can’t wait to get cleared to drive again!

    Big fan here from up in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Was at my local dealer this morning and he had two 2021.5 Signatures on the lot. Small price increase ($600 Cdn), but we finally get the 10.25” screen and newer software that you guys have had for a while. Looks like we lost the wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity with this upgrade, but I can’t wait to go visit the dealer when they’re open and take a look at this new screen! Mazda Canada put out a press release about a month ago, where they announced the new screen, and also mentioned that coming in the fall would be the Mazda Connected Services, which would allow remote starting, among other things, from an app for the CX-5 and CX-9. Good times ahead!

    Great video as always. Informative even for veteran Mazda owners.
    One feature that’s rarely mentioned that I use often on my CX-9 is the rear request switch. I think I spied it on the CX-5’s hatch in the video. This might only be for the Advanced Keyless Entry ....To the right of the outside lift gate open button (just above the license plate), is a third request switch in addition to each front door handle. You can tap it to lock the car and engage the security system. Handy after the entire family gets out. We always seem to gather behind the car before waking into a store. I can tap the rear request switch to lock the car rather than pull out the fob or walking to a front door.

    • @stacywebb7087
      @stacywebb7087 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for mentioning this feature. I have tried countless # of times to use mine and I cannot get it to work. Any tips?

    • @vin6135
      @vin6135 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stacywebb7087 It will only LOCK the car. It can’t be used to open the doors. After all the doors and liftgate are closed, the person with the key fob should be near the rear liftgate, press the button and it should work. If it doesn’t, maybe all models use the trim panel but not all of them actually have the feature? I would think if you have request buttons in the front door handles for Advanced Keyless Entry, it should work.

    My favorite setting is the lock when driving. I have mine set to lock when going into drive and unlock when going into park. You pull up to drop someone off and the regular passengers expect to hear the unlock, they aren’t tempted to get out before you are ready.

      I'm guessing you are loving the CX-5, one thing no one has mentioned is how engaging they are to drive. It's got a sport feel that the competition lacks. Wife made me test drive a 2020 cx5. First thing I noticed was
      how quiet it is. Bought it. 7k miles and all good.
      The predicted arrival of the in-line six cylinder in 2022 has my vote.
      Although the 4 cylinder is impressive after a recent trip to Santa Fe.
      Found myself at 88 mph because it was so smooth. Even in
      a 30 mph crosswind on I-40.
      Only strange feature is the gas pedal pivots (hinges) at the floor
      like my old 65 Impala. But it is a car that I will recommend.
      note: warranty is only 36k/3 years.

    Had a 2021 CX5 as a rental, early July 2021. One unnerving & potentially dangerous quirk was the COAST feature on cruise control. After driving many cars equipped with cruise control over many years, this is the first I encountered that if you hold down the COAST button continuously more than a couple seconds, the vehicle actually applies the brakes & quickly slows down by 10-20 or more(!) mph. Instead of normally killing the throttle to coast, slowing gradually you risk getting rear-ended. I didn't use the cruise very much on that trip!

    Hi Jon, thanks for your excellent videos on the 2021 Mazda CX5. I just bought the Signature trim in Soul Red and love it. I have one question that may seem silly. I drove this model as a rental and although it had some things to get used to, the radio and gas thingy and the push start engine, I always wondered about the key. I didn't know it was in the fob lol. I also didn't know about the pull down cup holders and charger in the back seat. This car was very cool to drive. I may even get one in the near future 😏

    I just leased a 21’ CX-5 GT w Performance Pack in snowflake white pearl, 1 week ago. I like it pretty well except the brakes are soft, no dead pedal cover, No backlit turn/wiper stalks, and the seats hurt my butt after half hour drive. It’s a smooth refined vehicle tho. The dealer was charging MSRP on all of their vehicles due to limited inventory (chip shortage). I’m in Oklahoma City

    I notice there's a button on the right of the rear tailgate release. My Subaru Forester it's used as a 5 digit pin code so for example if you want to go kayaking and leave your keys in your car you can do that. At the dealer on the 2022, I saw the same button (probably the same Subaru uses on their car (both made in Japan). Does it have pin code access?

    Another terrific and informative video. I think I've watched most of your videos about the CX-5 , as I'm hoping to buy a Grand Touring soon. Literally every other vehicle make and model have received enough owner complaints about problems to make me very leery. I do not find that to be the case with the CX-5. Your videos have definitely helped in steering me in the CX-5 direction. Seemingly the only occasional complaint is owners feeling that the front seat bottoms are short and uncomfortable. I'll be test driving one this week. Any advice or comment on the seat "issue"?

      @@BerkeleyGang you press the lock button 5 times on the 5th press and hold for around 2s then the red light will flash then the key will be "off" the buttons on the key work and if you press the key against the start stop button it will start the car it basically turns off all the keyless functions to save battery life in your spare key etc

    We have a 2014 CX5 Grand Touring we bought new. In 2014 I was amazed that a “factory” remote engine start key fob was not available on any mazda. We got the dealer remote start installed and not only was it extremely complicated, it worked about 3 months. After one unsuccessful attempt to have dealer repair it we gave up and it hasn’t been used since. Also ridiculous to have two fobs on keyring. So now we are in process of attempting to get a new suv to replace CX5. Has been a good car after 8 years. To my amazement though still can’t get a remote start factory keyfob on any new model CX5! Remote start key fobs are practically standard equipment on most new cars now. Yes it now has the Mazda connect that means can start engine with cell phone, but that’s not the same. I also have a 2021 Ford F150 with ability to start engine on my IPhone. But it’s not practical for everyday use. Have to get phone out and start app and there is about a 20 second delay. Does not take place of a quick remote start key fob. Just shocked that Mazda is so behind on something so simple and basic now days. It’s keeping us from buying another Mazda.

    Thanks for the info. I have a mazda cx 5 2021.5. Different dash, probably because of Canadian market. First time ever of owning a mazda. I like it for many reasons but I hate the temperature controls. It is either too hot or cold .very frustrating to adjust even on long trips. Seems as the air is poorly distributed. The radio controls should have a seek option. Again very frustrating 😑. It's a nice car that has great features but improvements will be needed before we purchase another one.
