    $19 ECM performance chip from EBay, WHAT A DEAL!!!! It's just as a great deal as the $5 I paid for the five gallons of blinker fluid I just purchased from EBay.

      +snowball114 Blinker fluid is coolant for your turn signals, it keeps them from over heating and burning out. Every time your turn signal flashes, a little bit of turn signal fluid is use up. And if you don't refill the blinker fluid tank, your turn signals will burn out.

    As for the tip for making it better: measure up the holes and get universal hood vents that fit over them and fit the styling of the car somewhat. Make exact cuts measuring properly and file down the edges. Paint the exposed metal with a silver paint corrector. Get color matched paint from a store, prep, primer, paint and clearcoat the universal hood vents, then use a liquid sealant to fix them in place - after measuring and making sure they are properly aligned.

Its common sense to know that the $20 ebay chip wont work... Id like to see a test on a chip from a prestigious company.

      If thats true then there is a serious problem with customs allowing crap like this to come into the country. I am sure theres been huge complaints yet the feds do nothing. The same goes with people who computer hack and send out viruses. I mean really. A whole separate market left for the legal departments to create controversy over so they can rake in the money while the consumer suffers. China syndrome.

      I'm sure there *haven't* been huge complaints. As they allude in the video, how many people who buy a $20 chip are going to spend hundreds putting the car on a dyno before and after to check for actual HP gains? Most people who bought this chip will have convinced themselves that it works.

      I guess it swings both ways eh. Just like china is allowed to make shit quality products and we are almost forced to purchase this crap. Most of the time its got nothing to do with being a dumbass when some advertisements for some of these products boast unreal events. Mostly car adds the completely brainwash people into buying their crap, which most vehicles are just that fuking garbage. As far buying products for vehicles, I believe most are sold by the snakeoil salesman himself. Its mostly bullshit and supported by consumer protection agents who are shills to begin with. Your right, we have to look after ourselves and watch out what we buy, however there is a blatant scam going on here that needs to be addressed.

      ChiefJustice Middleton this was bought from some tiny ebay merchant. no country has the resources to handle every single case of fraud, it's not worth it. some things have to be left to the consumers. ebay does have a pretty solid money back guarantee for cases like this, but I'm not sure how they would hold the merchant responsible.

    I test audio amplifiers for wattage, also busting some myths like those "500w" $20 amps from China...yep, good for 5-12 watts! Also, many eBay and forum posts say old school X amplifier puts out xyz wattage. I can prove or disprove these claims with my "Amp Dyno". Fun stuff. Great video as always, thanks for saving folks 20 bucks!

      Berringer is famous for fake wattage claims. It's 500 watt PA amp is about 150 RMS @ 8 ohms per channel or 4 ohms bridged. Some of the name brand companies are legit in their power claims at various ohm loads.

      Maybe you could tell me why I have a "1000W" name brand PA speaker with integrated amplifier that consumes 25W at all times regardless of how high or low the volume is. Was curious so I hooked up the kill-a-watt meter.

    I keep telling people. VTEC is a technology to get an aggressive cam profile to run smooth at low RPM. It's not a technology to make you go faster, it's a technology to make a lumpy cam - which is what makes the car quicker - more tolerable to drive day to day.

      Better yet, with their access to a dyno and a proper critical "dyno-yoda", a comparison between several chips from ebay, local tuners etc would be very interesting. Let's find out if the myth about chips will actually be busted.
      Glad to see that I'm not the only one annoyed by calling some 'IAT sensor fooling device' a performance chip.. Let's start calling things as they are, and for the more serious petrolhead those IAT devices were already in the same performance bracket as turbonators, homemade C(H)AIs, etc.

      I believe that S2000 is making as much it can and I don't think there is a much room left on program level even that it is using old MAP sensor and not more accurate MAF sensor.
      I was personally very surprised that MX5 had just switch style TP sensor. I laughed.
      On real chips you are paying programming and not "chips" because chips just cost 2 to 8 dollars a piece (not to mention those which need some logic chip making talking between ecu). Today OBD programming / Flash so not anymore chips either (OBD flash tools are costly thou).
      I think this dyno yoda is not making chips. Because they are selling they own ecu system.

      I've got a Cold-Air intake and a full Cat-back exhaust setup off of ebay and they both work wonderfully. I do believe there are different levels of ebay products. Some are scam products designed to feed off the ignorant and some are made off of a brand name products line, but sold under a generic name. Possible brand name rejects due to not meeting specific tolerances and just sold under a generic name to help cover production costs.

    • @ldorman
      @ldorman 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      autobotguy Cold air intake and sport exhaust systems with luck you have 10hp more.
      Also using performance chips on a n/a doesn't do a lot.
      The fun starts when you turbo-charge, forced induction, good exhaust system, custom ecu plus other crank, mod the vtec timing... so basically spend around 10k on it and you might double the horse power - but then it's not VTec what kicked in ;)

    (DISCLAIMER, this post has already been discussed enough, I don't need 10 more people to tell me how i'm arrogant and this video really is a big help to morons) .....This is stupid, there is no myth behind chipping. If you order mystery shit off of ebay, of course it's going to be a scam. In the real world that the rest of us live in, cars with non-flashable or programmable computers have to have the "chip" that controls the car replaced in order to change the tune of the car, and there is nothing mysterious or fake about it. What's next, a 30 minute video explaining why i shouldn't order chinese paint with lead in it off of ebay, to paint an infant's crib? Anyone with common sense doesn't need this video.

    • @daveyboy8320
      @daveyboy8320 9 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hey, Im genuinely not trying to sound argumentative, bit this video isn't meant for people like you, and I. This is meant for the 17 year old, that finds a "performance" chip promising 60+hp and tq gains, and 200 mpg. I can't even tell you how many young guys on my BMW forums, and 5series get their hands on a car, or even want to chip their parents car, and they're always asking "is this true?" " will I really be able to make 350 whp in my dads E60 525i?" Lol. Its ok of funny. These guys need someone to explain it to them. I can't stand answering their questions, only to have them argue with me afterwards because they can't stand the fact that the I hopes for 60 whp gain and 30 mpg after a $20 "upgrade" from China. Yeah, because some guy in China knows some secret the engineers didnt what he soldered a small capacitor on some other shit lmfao. Have a good one.

      Lassi Kinnunen No one is arguing that at all, in the video they said that real aftermarket ECU can make changes.
      The whole point of this video is be informative and make for an interesting show. If the title had been, lets test this fake chip off eBay to see if it is fake, then it would be boring.
      By making the show about saying, look, I bought a cheap chip off ebay, it claims this and as we have the tools available to us, we are going to test it to show you once and for all if it does what it promises us.
      As they said at the end, if a mate had bought and fitted one, just driving around, they will never be able to quantify any gains, and wishful thinking might have people thinking that it actually did something too.

    • @daveyboy8320
      @daveyboy8320 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lassi Kinnunen Yeah, I dont know if it was all that clear in my comment, but I know cars pretty well. Im a full on gear head myself. Im familiar with the theory, so no need to explain. My problem with this subject is that people confuse the idea of chipping a car, and reprogramming, or replacing an ECU. They dont seem to understand that you can buy a performance "chip" thats been engineered for your vehicle but, a $20 chip on craigslist cant delivered on these extreme promises of huge power and fuel gains.

    Those connectors are make before breaks to stop you from interrupting signals for input/output
    As for figuring if they have connected just run a continuity test (all multimeters have the option) from the pre existing line to the new spliced line
