Surgery is a lot safer for cats and dogs than it used to be, but it's also best if you can prevent your cats from getting to that place whenever possible by brushing their teeth once a day! It may sound like a hassle, but it only takes a couple minutes (as long as you have two people). More than half of adult cats have some form of dental disease!! It can eventually lead to pain, infection, and your cat losing teeth! If your cat accidentally breaks a canine, make sure to take them to the vet because the dental pulp inside is often exposed, which is very painful and can eventually lead to infection.

I know you care about you animals, no question about that but you need to look at the diet you are giving them-that is what causes the teeth problems. Give your cats real food. Not junk food as cat kibbels. Cats are carnivors. Look at what wild cat animals like the lion, the lynx etc. eat. Do your research. Cats should not eat grains, gluten, vegetables, fruit, vegetableoils, fillers, gluten, msg , starch, etc They should be given real food like meat, fat, organs, fish, small bones, whole prey where they eat the feathers or fur of the animals also...start researching. You are both more than capable to find out how their diets can improve. No animals in the wild need to brush their theeth. If you give your cats the right amount of nutrient dense food their teeth will take care of it self, they will be strong and free of cavaties or tartar and any miscoloring (like yellow or brown stains) Look into raw feeding. If not raw at least make sure that most of of their food is real food and only meat, fat, organs, sometimes fish. No carbohydrates or starch.

I know this is 5 months late, but I figured I’d drop in any way... my dad is a veterinarian and he always recommends that young cats (like Nagi, Haku, and Poki) eat oral care food, such as Hill’s. It cleans their teeth as they eat because it’s very large kibbles and they need to sink their teeth into it to chew it more than other foods. This way you wouldn’t need to brush their teeth every day because the food does it for you. You guys are AMAZING pet parents, just thought (on the off chance you see this comment) it might make your life easier and your kitties teeth healthier! ❤️❤️
It's sweet to reach out to them but on the ''Comparing Our Cats'' video the pinned comment says that they have bad diarrhea with food and vets reccomended them the current food they eat, all of them do I believe so it'd probably be impossible.

I'll never forget my own cats first surgery to remove a huge splinter from his neck...
He was brought in, and everything went fine, but he was completely out of it when we got home! He seemed fine, but we opted to keep an eye on him, as he was a bit unsteady, but could still walk and jump just fine... That's until he wanted to get down from the table, and instead of jumping down like normal, he pretty much just plopped head first into the carpet... He was completely fine, but we clearly underestimated just how sedated he still was!

i started crying when i heard that. normally im an emotionless psychopath but cats getting harmed or even killed or dying makes me very sad.
Cats never show their pain and it’s so alarming sometimes. I was watching Netflix in bed and suddenly realised there were bloody paw marks all over my white bed, and on my carpet, cause my cat tore his nail off while playing and he just left bloody footprints everywhere

I follow a cat rescue in Australia and these homeless kitties had to have surgery to remove things like pepperoni wrapper from their tummies cuz they were eating garbage, anything that smelled like meat :(
My cats have been very well fed their entire lives (they are the kittens of one of our other cats, so we have had the kittens since day1) and it’s been 9 years with them, they are probably some of the fattest cats, yet they cry just like this for food and for treats 🤣 they know how to work the system 😜🤣 (they are not 20lbs cats tho! I just want to make that clear! They are still a lil hefty tho haha!)

I do not talk about my ex in lessons. Just to be clear. That's all tired ramble/zoning out typing. Sorry you had to hear my scattered speculations in Lucky's case. Most cats who are trained as kittens accept tooth brushing. Even if it's grudgingly in some cases. He doesn't. Other cat, gorgeous, just hates them and I'm lucky she trusts me enough to administer medicine but for whatever reason stays away from tooth brush like it's a vaccume. Probably a story there. Too bad she's never been able to tell me what it is. She was like that when I got her from a shelter when she was a couple years old.

Tell my about it. My idiot flame point siamese Axel JUMPED ONTO THE STOVE WHILE IT WAS STILL ON and I didn't realize he had burned his paw until I smelt that kind of burnt singed smell. And even then I was freaking out because he had singed his paw pad, the vet gave me antibiotics for him just in case, and the whole time Axel was just like "bruh what's the big deal?" Cats are hardcore lol.

‘cats are good at hiding pain’ my cat (who is 17) had a hole in her throat in a fight when she was around 14 and my family didnt realise until she tried to bite me for petting her there, she usually loves it, but we couldnt afford to take her to the vet but she had a full recovery! and she is now stronger than ever!

my cat got attacked by a fisher cat, (which, for those who don’t know is basically a badger and bear mix,) and escaped. it broke his tail and he got bit on both of his hind legs. he ended up limping from the middle of the woods to our front entryway and up two flights of stairs while only meowing. he’s an indoor cat now.

Aww, poor Nagi! A few years ago my cat Simba knocked his left canine somehow which made it stick out and caused the gum to swell - he had to get it removed. This year I noticed the gum around his other canine is a little red, but his tooth seems to be okay. I monitor him every day and brush his teeth each week - but it isn't easy! He hates it XD I do wish he was like Nagi in that regard, but I wouldn't change him for the world

I just wanted to weigh in on the vet statistics. I'm in Canada, in the 10 years I was in clinics from emergency to GP to exotics I only ever saw two pets die because of the anesthesia. So I hope people will know how uncommon it is nowadays :)

What is your opinion on having to remove a tooth because it is broken?
@@purringinmyear Depends. On a young cat like this I think it's warranted. On an older cat a quick cap would have probably been easier on the kitty but honestly a single tooth removal isn't really all that big of a deal. I've seen 13 year old cats have over half their dentition removed and recover well and with "kitten-like" spunk :)
I wanted to get into veterinary services and man, anesthesia is the only thing I've ever been worried about. Even for people, anesthesia seems to be a risky situation!! But, do they simply use less anesthesia these days compared to older days? I've always wondered if that may play into the role of less incidents these days
@@huniitea1520 I'm not a vet, but I think it might have something to do with the kind of anaesthetic and the way of administering the anaesthetic they use now compared to back in the day.
Nagi is such a beautiful sweet loving cat. I am worried for him, yet I know you will take great care of him. Since I am been following you for years I know he is fine and happy.
Going back to this video is kinda sad for me. I lost my girl to mouth-based cancer less than a month after this video. She was acting entirely normal, just not eating. I didn't notice anything wrong until there was blood running down the side of the couch from her usual spot. Cats are so good at hiding their pain.
you reminted me off my cat whos legs didnt work and we didnt want her to be in pain so we had to take him to vet to be put to foreever sleep and im so sad for your cat 😔
