There are many chefs who will do private parties where you go to their small kitchen with some friends and they cook the meal while everyone watches and talks. Might be a way to spark someone's interest in cooking. Most chefs I've met really enjoy getting more people into food. They don't see it as competition - they see it as future customers.

Regarding the kettle, I have a kettle that comes with temperature settings - basically if I want water heated to 80C (ideal temp for coffee), I click the temperature button until the light is on 80C, then get the kettle going by hitting the power. I typically go for 100C, because tea requires boiling water for it to brew effectively. Most of the time. (It depends on the tea)

Regarding the kettle, I have a kettle that comes with temperature settings - basically if I want water heated to 80C (ideal temp for coffee), I click the temperature button until the light is on 80C, then get the kettle going by hitting the power. I typically go for 100C, because tea requires boiling water for it to brew effectively. Most of the time. (It depends on the tea)
