Nah, have you heard how determined Poki gets for food?! That boy yowls his head off for hours before feeding time! I knew with that level of determination, nothing would stand in his way for a treat. He also hops in (and gets stuck in) the garbage so...yeah. Poki is a top-tier food forager, no matter how high the wall, XD!

I nearly died laughing when Haku pushed the level 10 wall and was like imma loaf
It's really interesting that while Poki jumped the highest out of all the cats, he had trouble adjusting his landing (you could see him overbalancing a tiny bit in the later levels and almost falling on his butt during lvl10) because of his lack of a tail to help him adjust himself mid-air. It doesn't take away his ability to jump high though, which is fascinating to see. Being a former street cat Poki could have had more experience with clearing high jumps. The fact that he runs before he jumps seems to show that he learned technique from somewhere.
Somehow I expected Poki to Juggernaut right though every toilet paper roll and get that sweet kibble.

In all seriousness though, I think poki is the smartest cat they have. Yes Nagi can play to kill but Poki-- figured out how to pull trash from the garbage, knows how to open cabinets, survived in the wild and had to eat roadkill, he runs before jumping at the toilet papers, he figured out that he needs to get back to Jun so he can throw the treat, he won this challenge, and I think his breed is stated to be naturally smart? All in all, I love all there cats!

While rewatching this for the nth time, I noticed that Haku, while jumping and up in the air, already tries to look where the food is so that he can immediately get to it and it. He has such a keen eye too. Hunter Haku is on high alert on this one 🤘🏼

@@DottieDott Haku is big but that's because he is a Maine Coon. And he does have a Zen personality,so laid back and chill. He is my fav boy out of the three 😊
At that point you can see they are no longer trying to go over it but get high enough to climb it. They put their back paws forward to dig in and push the rest of the way up. Very clear with poki which is why he is so off balance when he went through.
Haku was just done, he figured out that knocking the wall down took less energy. He really is smart, he will go far in life.

Poki's power level as a streetcat is just too high, even though Nagi has that incredible climbing genes and prey drive. Haku is the real surprise - I guess it wasn't just fluff in there, he's been working out.

Poki can really jump considering his tail isn’t all there, I thought he would need it for acrobatic balance.
A cat's springs are not located in their tail section. If cat's needed tails to jump then tailless breeds like the Manx would never jump.
He did indeed show some problem with balance. I cringed every time he landed, but he managed to get it together just in time.
@@NotMykl Yah, but tails are good for stabilisation. It's a little bit surprising that a tailless cat is as good at presition jumping as a tailed one. Not very, tho
Straight jumps like this doesn't require a whole lot of balancing with their tails. I think it's more evident with more acrobatic manouvers (twisting in the air and such, kinda like his last jump).
Erik Nilsson yup, as you can see most of the time the cats knock the paper rolls over because they don’t think too much about tucking their hind legs in a bit more. And then just accidentally, being shocked by it, knocking them over. That and also when it was high enough it seemed like some of them decided to step on it like a little ledge and jump off from, but it didn’t work out to well because they fell over.

There's a friendly and adorable cat in my colony that looks exactly like Haku and behaves exactly like Haku. Keep in mind that she isn't my pet, but she's friendly enough to associate with whoever she trusts (aka whoever she smells). I've named her Squish, inspired by Haku smooshing his face when he sleeps haha.
Why do cats try to jump over stacks and avoid knocking them down? Are they actually playing or is this to do with their psychology - like keeping their territory neat or something?
If you left a stack blocking a pathway will they continue to jump over and try to avoid knocking it down or will they just walk through it eventually like nothing?

If you actually pay really close attention, you can spot how the cats are adapting their approach to the jump depending on the height. For the lower jumps (up to 4-5), they take their sweet time pulling their hind legs up. On the slightly higher jumps (6-7), they retract their hind legs before reaching the top, but they still avoid the obstacle completely. On the highest jumps (8+), they attempt to use the top of the obstacle as a launching pad, either with their back legs as they are passing over or with their front legs if the obstacle is too high. The stacks of toilet paper aren't very stable but depending on their tilt and how packed they are, they can provide more support as launching pads in a single direction, which is why Haku could easily pass them one way, but not the other when the towers became high.
TLDR: I took 10 minutes analyzing a video about cats jumping over toilet paper towers.
