15 min is a short video lol I think if it’s content people are interested in the longer the better. I personally can’t get enough turtle and tortoise content. I’ve been following kampkenan for 6 years and I often go back to the beginning of his channel and binge. Your channel is one I’m binging right now. Great stuff
i just discovered this channel and his vibes make it interesting to watch instead of skipping to the info i need lol but i do the same thing with Jake Webber and Johnnie Guilbert i go and rewatch their videos when they dont post enough lol
I had to put a stop to my son bringing turtles home because he built a turtle pen out back which was fine but when he told me he had over 30 turtles in there I was shocked. He built a pen out of an old trampoline frame and chicken wire and he had a hell of a collection going. He had all kinds of land turtles. Orange spots, yellow spotted ones and plain brown turtles. He basically had all the turtles Kansas has to offer. He had all the turtles tamed to the point he could hand feed them worms and when he would open the gate the turtles would follow him around the yard. There would be a litteral heard of turtles chasing him around. Eventually I talked him into releasing them all back to the woods where he found them but it was hard. Now he goes back into the woods and I kid you not he just has to stand there and a turtle with come crawling up.
Haha sounds like he has the turtle bug 😊it’s better off that he set them free tho . You really need permits for them I’m sure and he wouldn’t wanna get caught especially if the species is endangered but I totally get how addictive they can be . Thanks for the comment I appreciate it.
Great video on explaining your feeding set-up. I'm in Texas and have multiple Ornate's and agree 100% that they should be kept outside. Hibernation and all. I was interested in your enclosure walls - they are not electrified and seem to have to "deterrent" for predators. Where I am, my enclosure is under constant watch by skunks and armadillo's. They don't want to eat the adults, but dig up my nests. For the longest time I thought it was a racoon, but after installing night vision video camera's, low and behold, it was skunks and even armadillo's. I could not figure out how they were getting in and after moving the camera's around and painstakingly watching them (8 hours of nightime video watching is boring....), I finally figured it out and stopped it - but the damage was done. I used to keep the babies in the main enclosure but exactly like you said, they were getting picked off by hawks. Again, the vidoe camera revealed all. So, back my question - no deterants? Also, do you now attract vermin like rats etc bu leaving ANY food out at night? I used to and after watching rats and opposums eat the food, I stopped doing that.
Thank you for the comment, I haven’t seen any rodents in the pens but the smaller birds do fly down and eat up leftovers . I’m going to keep an eye out for pests like raccoon and rats .
Probably the best and most common sense video I’ve seen on box turtles. Right up there w Garden State. Thanks for new tips. Would love for you to make a video on building your habitats.
Wow , that’s a great compliment thank you . I appreciate it, I’ll make a video on making my pens soon my friend as I’m making 2 more large enclosures very soon .
Great and thank you for the comment I appreciate it . NJ is good about letting us legally keep these species. Some places don’t let you keep indigenous animals but I’m thankful we can here .
Do you have a website where you sell the babies? And I would take out the background music on your videos, it’s hard to hear you even without the music.
I tried croc diet years ago , and the turtles liked it I’m not sure why I stopped using it now . I think it was expensive to buy I’d definitely like to try it again and test it out .
Thank you soooo much for the information. I have a little box turtle showed up about a month ago......I'm leaving him outside like you say. My issue is the water??? PLEASE guys help me??? I call him Timmy Turtle and I SWEAR he listens to me when I talk to him! Before today, I have just putting him in a bowl of water bc it's soooo hot but I Want to help him MORE. Can you guys or someone help me?
This summer our box turtle was stung by a scorpion. Our beloved turtle is living indoors for now because she had a severe allergic reaction. We are afraid it could happen again. Not sure how to prevent it in the future. Her water bowls attract crickets and scorpions eat crickets. Any suggestions?
I’m very sorry that it got stung , I don’t have scorpions here in NJ but are there any live traps that you could put around to try and catch them for maybe a distance release . I really would suggest googling the issue and or ask other box turtle keepers in and around your area just what they do . I’d imaging my box turtles would try to eat them not knowing the danger.
Hi , I’m not sure what kind of turtle you have but I’d think a plastic tub or bin would be fine . Just do a little research on what type you have and any specific heating or lighting needs it may have .
Hi , and thank you for subscribing and watching my videos . Depending on the species you’re interested in . As long as it’s legal to own them in the state that you live in . I ship out orders on Monday’s, Tuesdays & Wednesdays barring Holiday interference now and then . You can message me and I’ll get rite back with you . Thank you

I’ll try a few longer vids but the usual attention span seems to be 4-6 min haha let’s see how it goes

@@ChuckTornetta-TortugaRanchsimilar question: How do you keep ants and yellow jackets from swarming the food?
This is awesome! What an accomplishment🤩
Thank you ,
Beautiful homes for your turtles. I will have to try your recipes for my Easterns and three toes😊
Thank you , I appreciate your comment . They like a large variety of foods including veggies and fruits . And go Bananas over night crawler worms .

Okay I’m sorry about that I promise I’m gonna work on that and order a microphone to clip on to my shirt actually I’m doing that today
Also I don’t have a website but I’ll be posting up pics / vids / shorts of baby’s as they hatch out in August .
Hey Chuck
Do you ever use the Mazuri Croc diet, the small pellets?

Awesome , thanks for watching and good luck with your little boxie . Lmk if there are specific aspects of husbandry that you’d need help with
