Nick pointing out his (correct) take that Embiid shouldn't be slandered for winning MVP then not showing up in the playoffs after the way he covered Jokic for three years before last May is actually unbelievably hilarious
You didn’t understand why he had a problem with Jokic’s MVP then.
Yeah that’s incredibly hypocritical
@@cheerioss-9121 I understand it more than you do, he quite literally said word for word the MVP's he won "meant nothing" as Jokic didn't have any postseason success. It was from a pure dislike for him. He thought Jokic wasn't a top-5 player in the league as late as April right before the playoffs started. You're clueless
@@MLBlast40 you don’t. and it’s pointless in even finishing this conversation, if you can’t listen and only hear what you want.
Nicks major pushback with Jokic was him winning 3 straight MVPs heavily stemming from historical precedence. I’m not going into detail or repeating his argument, go watch what he said.
@@cheerioss-9121 It's pointless finishing this conversation because you can't listen and don't remember what he said. Used the PHX > DEN playoff series in '21 to justify why he wanted CP3 to win it in the first place when there really was no reason to ever vote him outside of team wins. Used the 2022 first round loss (to the eventual champions) and the team seed as an argument against him (despite him being the best individual player in the league). The pushback started YEARS before the three-peat chance and a foundational argument against the first two was already playoff success. It was also, as a result, just the easiest argument to use the third year. "I'm not going into detail repeating his argument, go watch what he said" lmao, yeah you should go do that. He literally said the MVP award was worth less because of the postseason result after the first two years of him winning it. This argument didn't magically start last year. I liked the LED court. They could do some cool stuff with that like making shots worth more from spots that light up on the court or something in the actual game. Guys will buy in with those types of things AND if some money is involved.
Fouls put players in the penalty box.
So you like gimmicks, more than players who actually take pride in competing?
That’s part of the problem. The nba is becoming gimmicky. The fact we’re highlighting the courts more than the all star game proves how bad it is. We never talk about how cool the field and uniforms are in the NFL. It’s pretty much all about competition

Lazy excuse for a lack of effort and caring. What happened to the “love of the game”? I thought guys block the outside noise out or whatever cliche you wanna use.
That’s ridiculous. It’s always been about rings. What is the ultimate goal in any sport? Winning! And it’s always been that way. Nick just doesn’t like that because he knows bron fell short of where he needed to be to ever be considered the consensus goat over mj. Really think about how redundant that statement you made is. Every sport is about rings. What ruined the culture is everybody wanting to play buddy ball and take the easiest path they can teaming up with each other instead of actually wanting to compete. What’s INSANE is these guys all discuss how the NBA is failing themselves by marketing older players, not incentivizing players properly, etc. yet they are part of the media and ONLY discuss the Lakers and LeBron, and Steph and GSW, and KD and the Suns. They’re contributing to the media discussing older players and ignoring players like SGA and Ant Edwards. They literally can shift the narrative themselves and still refuse to do it
Them and the NBA / Broadcasting channels themselves are the ones to blame for milking the same old cows, plenty of great young NBA talent. The fact OKC, Minnesota, Pacers etc. don’t have more national games is a crime
@@simonribeiro7630 100%. Players like Haliburton, Edwards, SGA, Ant Simons, Sengun.. A lotta young talent and they won’t go away from covering their favorite old heads
TBH, Ant shouldnt be getting a second of positive media coverage the cheating dog!
They have people who analyze the ratings. Talking about Lakers, Warriors, Suns or Knicks equals more views.
The league’s new talent doesn’t grab the attention to where they themselves are making their own push to be faces of the league. Halliburton has some qualities of this that I’ve noticed. The main reason for all of this too is football controls so much of the narrative for a good 5,6 months. As far as coverage goes the NBA season really starts now where there’s no football. I’m an advent FTF watcher, even they just really started talking about the NBA and it’s been in season since October. Football is King

Fans and media made it all about rings. No one wants to get hurt in the middle of the season in a game that literally does not count.
@mdp5775 Competition made it all winning, and a ring is the ultimate sign of winning. This newer generation associates bank accounts as winning more than actually winning.

Baseball tried to do that and it turned out to be a terrible idea, glad they stopped that rule
Dumb
A lot of great takes and ideas here
Maybe put a threshold on number 3pt att, say 8/10 per team per quarter, would increase game speed and drop the points
Mvp vs no Mvp all star game would be fire🔥🔥
As much as I loved football season I can’t wait to hear my favorite show get all into the NBA season
it’s the evolution of the 3pt shot. i would think it would be good to go back in evolution when there’s no 3pt line. If all regular shots are counted only as 2 pts (except for FTs) then the “game” can leverage defense again to win.
From aus. I use to always take Monday off to watch all star game. Have to admit I went to work and was not disappointed. My excitement about the all star game is gone.
To fix the all star game, count all shots as 2s. This will shorten the spread of the court and make players think twice about taking a long distance two.
This doesn’t fix anything because they don’t care about the game, that’s the issue. That’s why I didn’t understand Chris point about the 3 point attempts. The 3s are just a by product of the minimum effort the guys are putting into the game
@@cheerioss-9121 facts, guys would still just want to flex how far they can make it from
Idk why they got rid of the Kobe ending. 4th quarter turn off the clock first to reach the leading score plus 24. That helped
Agreed! It has to be a race to a number each quarter so that defensive stops matter. Plus putting something on the line like the NBA Finals home court is a great incentive. The NBA finals in a fair world would be on a neutral site like the In-season tournament championship & NCAA championship.
@@lanceevans6315 2020 &2021 Allstar games were amazing
Because gaslighting the players into doing it for “Kobe” is not going to give you the results you think. It worked when it happened because it was genuine. I don’t think you can recreate that moment or feeling they felt like they had to do for such figure like Kobe in the sport
So refreshing to hear y’all talk about basketball.. man it was getting tuff 😂
If you love the game, it doesn’t matter if your tired. I used to play basketball in jeans in 95 degree weather in Puerto Rico during school
Here's what kills me. None of them wanna be there or play the game, yet if they don't make the All-Star team they all get butthurt. Lmao
The game needs to decide home court advantage in the finals, offer a huge trophy, give the MVP an automatic roster spot on next year's game where he has a crazy theatrical entrance like an MMA figh. Make a production out of it like he's handing the throne off to the next guy. Give him a bunch of money and spotlight/donate to the charity of his choice. Give the coaches incentive as well.
Wildes “ughhh i liked it when it was linear mario brothers” LMAOOOO
Nick was cooking this segment
😂 ok
They should do a 3v3 or 2v2 all-star tournament where the 4 leading vote getters pick there teams from the remaining all stars
I like this
What the league really needs to do is just put more value on the defensive side of the game.
Bring back hand checking or something. Since most of the game is played on the perimeter get rid of defensive 3 seconds… something! Defense is majority effort and once the league starts valuing defense again we might also start nominating more players that put in that effort
Defensive 3 sec rule going away would’ve changed things a lot back in the day but now since so much of the game is played outside in rather than inside out like it used to be I actually don’t think it would change much. Yea the bigs could then crowd the paint and not have to leave but then that just opens up even more space so I think that would sort of have an adverse effect that would be negligible IMO
@@jeremyroberts8822 every other professional and collegiate basketball league seems to be doing fine without a defensive 3 second rule, it’s only an NBA thing.
I can only imagine the type of defensive schemes somebody like Coach Spoelstra could think up with a true zone defense.

Brou and Nick are both right. Two different angles but both have very clearly impacted the reverence, respect, and seriousness with which both players and the media viewed All Star Weekend.
Does no one remember the 2020 game? Maybe not because the pandemic came directly after, but that game was great. They were playing for charity, in a shortened game format, and they actually tried particularly at the end of the game. I haven't heard a single analyst mention it, but it felt like that was the answer.
Was looking for someone else to say this. That was definitely the answer. I just rewatched it and players were blocking shots, taking charges, and scrambling on defense. It makes no sense why they don’t just do that again.

Move the 3pt line further back. The risk of the 3pt is no longer as risky to be in the 80’s, early 90s or early 2000’s. The NBA is averaging nearly 36 3pt attempts a game, and the highest 3-pt% makes at .367. Make it 25’. Put the risk back in the 3pt shot.

Here's how you fix the allstar game : Make it a pickup game
The top vote getters are the captains and select their starting 5 and the next vote getters select theirs until the last tem with 4 players
From then on it is a last man standing contest of 4 twelve minute quarters: The first two teams face eachother and the loser is eliminated and so on until the last team which is going to select its fith player from the eliminated players.
That way the clock is restarted and the score too and you have also created urgency to make them compete harder
Love, Dawn Sr
make the all-star break longer so they're actually fresh the time the game comes around
Great idea from Chris, international Vs Local players for all-star weekend. That is more competitve.
If I had a shot at winning the chip why wpuld I risk injury right before the final stretch til the playoffs?
Just likke u could risk injury every other time u play? Thats no excuse

How about the winning side gets some extra salary cap for those teams during the remainder of the season? So you get to hold it for a year and hopefully get to defend the belt the next year
Good perspective from Brou. Never thought of it that way. However it should be much more competitive. Maybe they should pay the players, or some kind of incentive for the winning team
Wonder what a scoring zone (distance cap) would look like. Too far back you can't score. Forces players into a defendable zone while still allowing for the 3pt shot.
“Are you trying your hardest and if no then everything breaks”. That about sums up my league of legends experience
You ever releasing the episode filmed at the parade?
They need an incentive to play defense. Like an extra $50k in your opponent stays under 115 pts.
Here's an interesting idea: Make the game half court with playground rules.
i agree with everything bru said.
for the all star game, winning team members will get 5 coach's challenge back to their team, which can be used at any time including the playoffs. change the 3 point reward for points inside the paint, 2 pts for anything inside the 3 point line, and 1 point for anything outside the 3 point line(effectively killing the reward for deep shots). Also, every 2 steals/blocks that leads to a turnover removes a point from the other teams score.
Greatest suggestion Nick has ever made
I said the same thing as Nick about the incentive.
2018 was the last best & last All-Stars. Since, players preserve their bodies for the season.
Hear me out. To fix the all star game make it only half court like black top.
Forces players to interact more and actually guard when it’s not just outlet passes and crazy threes being jacked up.
Just a thought.
The all star break and game has been such a disaster… the only real way to make it matter… is to make it affect the regular season somehow… if it’s just an event to host while the rest of the league takes a break… it’s NEVER going to hold substantial meaning because the accolades ultimately don’t mean anything:/ the NBA has been broken, so this topic of debate doesn’t surprise me.
That suggestion games should be played at earlier is good. The night sleep and rest is different and more beneficial
They need to do something about this three point shooting epidemic. They should start limiting teams from shooting three pointers like limit it to 5 per quarter until the 3rd. Anything exceeding that is a technical. 4th quarter, they can shoot unlimited.
team usa vs international would be insane, bru might be on to smith
