@wenlisman huh?!? Nobody's hating they're responding to HIS quote about leadership. You can't have it both ways either. Either he cares about leadership or he doesn't. What proves that KD isn’t a leader because he isn’t vocal, because he hasn’t won as the “bus driver” how do any of us know that KD isn’t a leader if we ain’t in the locker room day in and day out

JJ is the complete opposite of Dan Orlovsky, Dan gets steamrolled by SAS and Shannon when it comes to football topics...JJ looks to roll over SAS whenever he can.
But not this segment
9 times outta 10 JJ gets rolled. He's pathetic at best. Nowhere on Stephen As level
Right but this one I think they both made plenty of sense and good points
probably because he's a student of the game as opposed to stephen a, who has an imeasurably long history of blantanly incorrect takes, lies, and personal attacks on players?
But he didn't here though
SA was right. Reddick should be president of the players association. He only sees things from there pov
Stephan a started the show off by complaining about what Durant does even tho he does the same stuff to get clicks lol 😂

JJ is the only one who talks basketball with a realistic mindset
I missed this…JJ and Stephen A going at it lmao. Too much brotherly love with Stephen A and Shannon we need the drama 😭
SAS killed it at the end. Often JJ is on point in calling out bs. Which is important. And he called what he THOUGHT was bs this time as well. Which is good.
But SAS was totally correct. We judge what we see, and KD's leadership didn't reach the level of LeBron, Magic, or Curry. He COULDN'T galvanize his players like the top tier leaders could. Leading by example is important which KD does in terms of putting in work, but that's only one component of it. All the other great leaders spared no effort in their work. But they were able to galvanize their players on TOP of that.
KD doesn't get more respect as a leader because he hasn't EARNED that respect. As they say, respect is earned. We're not taking anything away from KD. But you need proof to ADD to someone's resume, and KD didn't provide that proof.
KD has no leadership whatsoever. I mean where do I start.
@@RobertBallz he doesn't have enough to be called a leader. He does have work ethic for sure which a leader needs. He has the skills and bball iq which a leader needs to command respect. But he doesn't have the charisma. The ability to command respect and obedience from his teammates. The ability to organize an offense and defense.
A couple years ago on Brooklyn didn’t KD literally say he’s not a leader and just wants to ball?
YES, and then continued with Kyries narrative that they don’t need a coach they can coach the team themselves. Well which is it KD?
11:42 Props to the production team knowing the build-up was great and sliding Mad Dog in the screen. Mad Dog sitting there like "Ohh boy this is where all the fun begins now, this is entertainment right there!" LOL

@@kingnovi9404you acting like they haven’t followed his whole career 😂
@@StrawhatKage they have and the started criticizing him the moment he stopped being who they wanted him to be. It’s funny because I never hear anyone say Tim Duncan wasn’t a leader although he has a personality similar to Durant. I’ve literally heard Stephen a praise another player for leading by example yet kd who has one of the greatest work ethic in sports history evident by his extremely high skill level is not a leader by example.
@@StrawhatKage notice how they never say things like he’s been a model Citizen never been in trouble great ambassador of the game. All that stuff they say about a curry or LeBron. It’s all negative criticism when it comes to kd.
@kingnovi9404 I believe people get confused. If you have that personality, players have to see you as the leader. Not to mention Tim duncun had Gregg pop and players that seen him that way. That's similar to steph not kd. KD cant be compared to steph and tim duncan, find someone else to make your point because its not valid. Honestly the coach is the leader. But when you play as the best player, for the same team (long time), people consider the team yours like the face of the team, they may see you that way and fall in line. Of course I'm only speaking to players with the personality as kd "lead by example" (Lebron is different). We keep confusing best player as leaders. There should be a distinction. I don't believe kawi has ever been a leader of the team. I actually see pg as the leader, not kawi (even though kawi's the best player literally leading them to victory). Hope I made since....

JJ’s face when MadDog speaks is priceless. 😂
Jj was apologizing for K.d Lack of leadership. Kd said himself when got to GOLDEN STATE " He just wants to hoop" so he joined team where he didn't have to lead. AND AT BROOKLYN it didn't work out, whole thing collapsed. Kyrie said they don't need coach, KD co-signed. Was a whole lot that showed lack of leadership especially joining team u lost to after being up 3-1. Leadership requires more than skills and making shots. KD STILL ONE OF ONE AND ELITE
JJ Reddick, I like you but you talking nonesense!!!!! KD is friend so He is Biaised - He is not objective!!!! That's why he is not qualified to educate us about criticizing Basket ball players!! Steven A is qualified cause he is objective and roasted everyone! Noone is questioning Durant no being a Good Player!! He is but no Leader! Before he went to Golden State, they were winning and When he left the Golden States they Still WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Leader doesn't go for what makes him happy. He prioritizes what makes his team happy, Durant is pursuing happiness at the expenses of his teammates? He's no leader! He's an amazing player though! Right now is the time for him to prove that he a leader. He's the experienced player on a young team... Lead them to victory and we'll open the debate of you being a leader! LEbron left the cavs, went to Miami, won titles, came back to the cavs, won a title the went to the Lakers, won a title... That's a Leader but not like the REAL LEADERS JORDAN (evemn tho I think LBJ > Jordan) and Curry who stayed on their Team to win titles!!!
Tired of this false labeling against KD
Who says star players have to be vocal leaders? shut up, and stop crying. Corny loser.
As soon as I read the Forst sentence in your comment I was digging around to see where you mention Curry. And sure enough, it’s there.
😂😂😂 Molly's trying to end the segment was priceless. 😅😅
Simple- KD has always been a bus rider. He’s a hall of famer and is elite; however, never been the bus driver to carry his own team to a championship.
Wemby idolizes KD. He revolutionized the big man with guard like game. KD may not be an extrovert leader but he inspired guys like Wemby to play like he does now. That’s what leadership is all about. Being an inspiration
And Joel embed. And Luka. And ant-man. Kd was voted the favorite player by college b-ball players like 5 years in a row. Notice ever 7 footer wants to play like kd now days
they will never say that tho...u see how they disreegard all that info

He wasn’t mid but ok… he averaged 28 at duke average 17+ for years a 17 year career one of the best three point shooters you don’t know basketball
KD shifted the balance of the NBA with every team he joined. Acknowledging that is giving credit.

Maddog facial expressions is GOATED haha.
When Sas tries to dress young he fails miserably 🤣 🤣
Stephen A and JJ really had a very tense exchange that got personal.
JJ should stop questioning his colleague credential just because hes a former player and is "liked" more by current players. In his view, ANYTHING that players say is the ultimate truth and whoever DARE to question that or challenge their view is dumb and uneducated about the NBA because they never play it at a high level.

That was an incredibly solid debate
Stephen a is right, jj would defend a player no matter what they did
That just isn't true. He didn't defend Zion. JJ tells it how it is on a lot of players. Zion went to Duke and was a teammate for a short time. So, it should have been harder to be so strict on him.
JJ does take the player side a majority of the time but as a former player, their mindsets are more similar than the mindset of a pure media member like Mad Dog or Steven A.

"Well, it was great having JJ on First Take. I wish him nothing but luck on his future endeavors." - Stephen A. Smith
All you had to say to counter what jj said about Kevin durant winning finals mvp is where is the finals mvp when he goes to a team built around him. The warriors won before and after him. All durant had to do in golden state was play. Draymond was the vocal leader behind that team. Every situation where durant had to step up and lead he couldn't get it done OKC, BKN, and so far PHX. All three of those teams he was on was stacked okc russ james harden and serge ibaka. Brooklyn kyrie, james harden and a bunch of shooters. PHX bradely beal, Devin Booker.
KD sounds so confused as to what he wants. 😂
JJ the Protector 😂 You can guarantee he has the players’ back
It would be nice for ESPN to pick up some NBA analysis show pregame. Taking the time to go over what teams have been doing.
Perfect example to reply a crazy argument “let’s address the question”
JJ needs to not be a tool. Bro they aren’t going to call you a hero if you take their side. KD isn’t a leader period end of story. No one questions his greatness or accomplishments they question his ability to lead the a team to a championship. He hasn’t done that. Steph was the leader on the Warriors. Ky was the leader on the Nets. Currently on the Suns it’s a question mark. Id say Booker is but idk if he’s ready for that responsibility.
Great episode but its another episode ending at the wrong time 😢
This first was 🔥
He took the lead ball handler spot on the Nets with Kyrie on the court when James Harden left. KD led the helm on the court, just not verbally.
