2nd seat was the BN-Bombadier. Former Aviation Ordinanceman at VA-42 Green Pawns but changed to the Thunderbolts, from 1992-1994. Naval Airstation Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

use to work on the real ones with VMA-242 as an avionics tech. love the fly by since use to see it every day which is why my hearing now sucks.

The A-6E had a single Pilot and BN, the BN managed the weapons, radar and navigation systems and was the pilots second set of eye's. The pilot of course flew the jet and delivered the weapons on target. That little dome under the nose contained a flir and camera allowing the jet to use laser guided bombs. In front is the IFR probe which allowed for inflight refueling of the aircraft. Great flying, love the A-6E since I did maintain the real thing while on active duty with VA-115 (Eagles) which is now VFA-115 and flying the Super Hornet.

I brought this the other week. The unboxing was so cool. She is a beautiful plane. I brought some LED’s to fit as well. Should watch the movie “Flight of the Intruder” great flight guys 👍🏻
That boom on the front is not an instrument, it is for mid-air refueling. They chose to make it permanently deployed rather than have a fancy folding mechanism.

I spent a tour in VA-52nd and I worked on them. I had planned on getting one of these, when I got good enough to fly jets, It looks awesome in the air. The second officer in the cockpit is a BN, or Bombardier/navigator.

A quick FYI, that is not a Pitot Tube on the nose. That is called the refueling probe, for in-flight refueling!

Trying to get one next month I was supposed to get one last week but I lost my phone and hand to get that first.
I was told the standard version is a bit lacking in the thrust department, since the air is guided so inefficiency, albeit scale.
Would you rather recommend the deluxe edition?
You can't really go wrong either way. She's not a speed demon, but her flight envelope is wider than other jets. All comes down to what you want to spend

Hahaha, tell your buddy the person to the right of the pilot is called a B/N, ( BOMBARDIER/NAVIGATOR ), these jets even with 2 engines if it loses 1 engine it becomes a yard dart ( 2nd famous name for those of us who worked on them, i was a jet engine mechanic trouble shooter in the navy
)
In the Air Force they are called a Nav or a WSO (weapons system officer)
Sorry, as a former B/N I can tell you the aircraft flys fine single engine, having landed several times with one engine out, including taking a field arrested landing.
