I'm from China. When I was about 12, first learning English, I love watching all her films and listening to her music. I remember I used to listen to this concert again and again on that old desktop in my home. I accidentally open this video today and I found that every word and every syllable she sings or speaks are stored in my brain and they can just easily flow out like a stream. This video brings me back to the good old days, and I realize that I have never stopped loving her.
I first watched the sound of music when I was in China about 8 years old, also began to learn English. She’s definitely one of the life mentor and has inspired billions of ppl around the world

@@jnul21 Agree. She is one of my role models. It doesn't happen a lot these days, but you could hear every word of every song she sang and I think she should have been proud of that. I try to enunciate as well as possible too when I sing.

For my 50th birthday, I was given airline tickets to NYC along with tickets to “Victor, Victoria” with Julie Andrews. I thought I had died & gone to heaven! She left the show the week before the date of my tickets to have that horrific surgery that changed everything. I still grieve the loss of her voice and revel in every opportunity to see and hear her in any medium.

Every time I hear her singing before her vocal cords were butchered, I want to cry. No amount of damages won in a lawsuit begins to make up for the loss of one of the greatest voices ever. She still has a lovely speaking voice...small comfort.
She didn’t sue for the money. She hoped it would stop the MDs involved from doing it to someone else. The monetary award (rumored to be 30 million) was donated to all of her charities.
She gave all the money to charity it’s rumoured she got 30 mil but it’s never been Confirmed

She's 53 I think in this show and she still looks, moves, and sounds great. I watch "Le Jazz Hot" every time I need to get psyched up. I listen to the rest for her wonderful voice. so clear and powerful, with remarkable range and clarity, as well as for the total esperience that is Julie Andrews, full of energy and the joy of life.

While it is a shame what happened with her voice, I am so grateful for what we got out of her singing career, and what we continue to get from her work in film and charity.
It’s May 17, 2024 and I’m still watching. I’ll never tire of watching her. She is the world’s best - and I’ve loved her ever since she rolled her eyes in “The Sound of Music.” I was 19 years old when I first saw her/heard her and I’m 78 years old now. Thanks, Julie, for all you are, all you do, and the joy you give to so many others.
I share the same birthday with her. And my favorite song that she sings is My Favorite Things. That's what I'm going to sing this year because it says that when you feel sad you think about about your favorite things and you'll be happy.

@@bookerdewitt474 She had a vocal cyst in the late 90s. The surgery left her with damage to her vocal folds. She can sing a little, but not like this anymore. That surgeon should be boiled in hot oil.

Julie Andrews had, strangely enough, one of the most underutilized voices on Broadway or Hollywood. No, she couldn't do anything, but she could have done so much more than she did (although what she did was really great, and my wish that she had sung Sondheim is probably just me).
