I went from a Honda Cub to a Grom then to a Benelli tnt 125 (also have a few big bore bikes) the Benelli wins hands down for me as the nicer overall design and 5 speed box as the main benefits. You can short shift the tnt where u have to red line the Grom on every gearchange to maintain any sort of acceleration. I also feel the tnt doesn’t need as many mods to be good as the Grom. The main selling point for the Grom is it is a Honda and by reputation should pose less reliability issues than a Chinese made, Italian designed bike which is the tnt. I don’t care too much about that tho as it’s just a toy for me and can easily afford to fix up any issues if they pop up.
Was thinking of getting the Benelli or Grom. 4 valve head, dual spark plugs, 5 speeds, oil cooler and oil filter? There is 1000 of after market parts on the Grom not including 5th gear and dual plugs just to even the playing field. Comfort is a big one. Tough choice.
I feel that the Benelli is more comfortable for me - the seat sits quite a bit higher and that was a big selling point for me. Price was also a factor for me - the Benelli was much less expensive, left me some money to buy some accessories. I think you'd be happy with either of them but, I'm biased towards the Benelli... Thanks for watching!
Binelli takes an absolute beating with no complaints. I was stuck on Honda Honda Honda but bought a binelli instead. Plenty of aftermarket parts cheapest being cat delete pipe, also did an intake mod. Found the stock seat on both to be a hemeroid inducer. As I don’t off road all that much I went with better street tires. It’s the best toy I’ve bought in a long time. Would have went with the from but I could have bought two binelli/binellies? For the price of a from so that was the game changer for me
I was looking at these two but ultimately went with a rebel 250. I’m just looking to ride and it seemed like the more practical choice.. i wanted something that was at least highway capable. Its still loads of fun and there are great deals on em. Best part is you can sell em later at a minimal loss!
God sees all!!! Its not like that. I am using benelli 150, I have seen people rode it over 100k kilometres and its still reliable after 100k. So I think thats the quality one should look for in a high quality brand.
Just started shopping for something like this. Looked at the grom and the Kawasaki z125, I am 5’ 10”, 185 lbs. when sitting on the z125 my knees did not feel right around the fuel tank, on the grom I could tuck my knees in close with no problem. How tall are you and how do you feel about the fuel tank on the benelli for your knees and comfort? I plan on going to see the benelli this week. Thanks for any input. Btw, I am retired and am 63 and these bikes look like a lot of fun, looking forward to getting one.
Thanks for watching. I really like my Benelli - I'm 6' and 215 lbs. and I fit on my Benelli just fine, my knees hit the sides of the tank but it is not unbearable. I'm 51 and have ridden all kinds of bikes but, these minis are a blast. If you're looking for something just to ride around town and have some fun - check out the Honda Monkey. They are basically a Grom with different styling. The Monkey is the most comfortable mini I've been on - It will be my next mini - if your looking for fun and comfort check them out. The Monkey is more expensive than the Benelli but I think the Monkey is built more for comfort and the Benelli is for more style. Have fun and ride safe!
That's a tough question. With no modifications I think they are about the same - that is just my opinion. I haven't done any top speed comparisons between the two. I've seen video of both bike hitting about 70 mph. As for taking it on a road that is 60 mph - that would depends on how everyone drives on that road - if everyone does 70 - then I wouldn't ride it. Your going to hear a lot of different opinions. Wish I could give you a better answer but, I just don't have that information - Thanks for watching! - Check out Dodge Rider and his Kymco spade - th-cam.com/video/TBr1NmgrAQc/w-d-xo.html
@@SuperFuryMan Thanks for the response. So, the speed limit max is 55, but everyone goes around 58/60 mph. I want to get the smallest bike possible for maintenance reasons and cost obviously. If I have to I'll get the tnt 300, but I'd rather have the 135 if it can hit 60 easily.
Sorry - not sure what to tell you. There are other riders that take their Benelli's out on roads like that - I'm just not one of them. Check out the Benelli Facebook groups there is a lot of owners on there and you'll get a better idea of what can be done. Good luck and ride safe!
@@lannonan i remember watching a video of someone who i cant really recall unfortunately but he said that the speedometer is about 7 miles off so the max it can go is about 63 or 65 mph
I own a Benelli that has about 400 miles on it. I occasionally take it on the freeway in Vegas and the top speed has shown 76 miles per hour. I know the speedometer is slightly optimistic maybe up to five miles difference at top end. But that would still mean you would get a legit 70mph out of it. I would give the bike 9 out of 10 Stars but the stock seat like this man was saying could use some work. I have never rode a Grom but this choice is no brainer. The Benelli is well-built and the 5-speed in the end is it going to win out for me. I was easy on the bike for the first 40 miles then after that I couldn't take it anymore I begin to drive it like I normally would. So far the bike has been fantastic it has not given me any problems whatsoever.
I haven't been able to get mine up to those speeds. I'm aerodynamicly and gravity challenged - l'm a big guy. Are you part of the Benelli Facebook group? I get out to Vegas a couple times a year and would love to bring the Benelli, Red Rock would be fun to ride.
Not sure if there is a specific Benelli group for Vegas - most of us are in the Benelli TNT 135 USA group - facebook.com/groups/180187235989126/ Here is the Grom group for Vegas - facebook.com/groups/1785855428313462/
Nice review. The one thing I noticed is you said the Grom had a little more get up and go than the Benelli and I've watched 3 other comparison reviews and each of them stated the Benelli had a little more get up and go. Would it have to do with the off road knobbies?
Guys look at it this way no matter what bike you pick it’s probably going to piss your ole lady off and if it does that and you get to have a lot of fun with your buddy’s and you get to pound a couple of beers ..we’ll I would say mission successfull...plus isn’t it fun to be 15 again..... I love it ...keep rollin brothers..
My curiosity about the banelli is if the craftsmanship is what you typically get with Italian machines, or I should say do they have less of that mass produced look that even Japanese production bikes typically have until you pay big bucks. I just started looking at the banelli and hoping it has more of a hand crafted machinery appearance. I think you know what I mean yeah?

Contrary to your comments, the published seat heights are: Benelli 30.7" vs. Grom 30.1". I wonder why you noticed the Benelli 3-4" higher?

So can you give an update on the 135? How is it? Any issues? How's maintenance? Do you still like it? Does it have common failures/issues?
You can use the benelli for decades after decades without any problem. Its reliable.

Where is the storage compartment on the benelli

No power delivery but a lot of fun guaranteed on these toys 👍

Do they have a stretch kit for the Benelli
Good comparison...both are awesome
I'm curious. Which goes faster? I want to get the Benelli or from. But I have a strip of road near me that is 60 mph. Could the Benelli handle this?
