Being a China-made/produced motorcycle, this is a competitor to the Taotao Hellcat (about $1200). It should be priced around $1500 due to the upgraded top end of the engine. For $3000, this is WAY overpriced. Zero dealer support, zero manufacturer support, and basically no resell value. It'd be a fun ride, but it is not comparable to the quality of a Grom.
Wrong. A Taotao has carburetor, has an inferior engine and gear box. This is fuel injected, has a decent engine and a 5 speed gear box. You can't buy a Taotao at a Honda or Yamaha powersports dealer. That's who are selling Bennellis.
Benelli is made in Italy. Been making motorcycles since early 1900s. Probably way more of a quality bike than the Tao and just as well built as the grom
Benelli was once an Italian company but were bought out by a Chinese company in the mid 2000s I believe. I own one and quality wise I would say it’s very close to the grom. But you can’t beat Honda, they have a strong hold on the market.

This is a really cool bike. I did buy one a few years ago, versus the Grom, after extensive research and comparison. I'm 270 lbs and can get it up to 65 mph (speedo has required correction) tucked in and on flat ground. I have had 0 problems with the TNT and love it. BTW, this is my 5th bike in 20+ years of riding.
I've never ridden a Grom, so cannot comment on them, but I've owned about 30 motorcycles of all varieties over the past 50 years. The mini moto universe is the only realm I've never visited. As a dedicated commuter in a urban-city environment, I thought it was time to take the plunge. Finding a Grom in my state turned out to be an excersise in futility. Finding out dealers were charging 5k OTD for Groms in other areas, made it necessary to move on. In short, I got a TNT135 for 3k and it has reinvigorated my love of riding. It's a total blast to rip around the city like a fool and totally under the radar. It takes me back to that feeling I got from the Honda Mini-trail I started on in 1970. Quality-wise, the only real standout cheapness, is the clutch lever. That is the only part that lives down to the "Chinese junk" reputation. Everything else is done very nicely and at least on par - if not better - than both Ninjas I've owned. Time will tell about reliability, but no issues yet as a daily rider, and more fun than I ever imagined. If your are looking for a peewee, don't pass these by, at least look, you may be pleasantly surprised.
It is a cool bike. I had one before I bought the 2022 grom. I’d a nightmare with mine. Broke down twice within 6 months of ownership and only had 300 miles on the clock. Couldn’t get parts from china and the dealer took it back. I wasn’t the only one with hassles. Be warned.

I have a Grom, but rode a TNT135 recently & the quality difference was amazing. The TNT controls were a lot tackier, the engine with 4000km's on it was rattling, the mirrors were awful & overall it had the feel of a cheap Grom copy. Yup, it goes a bit better, but for how long?
Almost 4000 miles on my Benelli, and still going strong. I always change the oil, and run premium 91 octane. It's all about maintenance, if you maintain your bike it will last.
I could be wrong, but I believe the Benelli comes with an oil cooler also. Due to the oil coil, better suspension, larger engine, larger bore they used to weigh about 28 pounds more than the grom.
Late to the party. I have owned 100+ motorcycles and currently own 10 and this dude is one of my favorites. I've had one for 2 years. Awesome little bike. 72 mph (gps) with a 230lb guy on it all day. 4800 miles on mine, no issues at all. Thing rocks.

I bought mine last year and put 3k miles on it in less than 6 months. Took a 600 mile road trip on it (stock) and although not super comfortable it was a fun trip. At first wish I would've gone with a Grom but if you're planning to upgrade after a year like I am it's a much cheaper option while sacrificing little. For longevity go with the Grom, for cheap quick fun go with Benelli.
@@pauld.b7129 idk about 30% less power, the HP isn't that much of a difference from 125cc to 135cc. Also the 2022 Grom is a 5 speed like the Benelli so a slightly higher top speed than previous models. Like I said I personally think with the Grom is better when it comes to quality of the bike but with such a small cc you can't really go wrong either way unless you just really want the ABS model Grom.
@@Chestwolf it's about 30%, the Grom has 9.5 horsepower and the Benelli has 13. Revs higher as well meaning more rev range in each gear. Just too underpowered and the 4 speed bothered me, at least pre-2022.
@@pauld.b7129 I know this is an older post, but im replying because i bought a 2023 abs model grom this past year with the five speed trans, and 10 to 1 compression motor, and the red, white, and blue color scheme that came with it. Im 70yrs old, and at 255lbs, that little bike pulls me just fine, and the fastest top speed i had it to going with the wind was 68mph and its stock. 50-55 is the norm for this bike, but like another person said, i don't go on roads with limits over 50-55mph, and going against the wind will cut that limit down a lot. People always comment about how nice it looks, and ask where to get one, and these are pretty scarce. Im in Illinois, and i found mine in Iowa, 445mi. away, but i did a turn and burn, went there with cash in hand and brought it home. The abs model was higher because of the abs brakes, and other things, bigger motor, 5 speed trans and what not $3,800.00 and $4,100 out the door with taxes and set up and all, but i would not sell it for double that, to hard to replace, and a fun little bike. I will look into this Benneli TNT-135 though, if it has the power they say it does, and a little better top end, i might pick one up, but i will never trade, or sell my grom. They have the big bore kits, and high perf stuff for the grom, but i just cant see tearing apart a brand new bike for a few more miles per hour. But i am looking for a pair of throw over bags, or a hard bag setup for carrying other stuff, tools, mini usb air compressor and things. Iv'e always been a Harley, and Goldwing guy, and toured a lot of states with my wife over the years, but, i like my small bikes also, for trips on the back roads. I think true Grom riders, and owners will never give them up for these other bikes, but they will buy one, and ride it, and park it in the garage next to their grom. The first to months i had my Grom, i put 1043mi. on it, then cold weather showed up, but 60 degrees and higher, ill be ridin.
The two best companies for beautiful motorcycles. Yamaha is the best styling for the big 4 and always has been. Aprilia and ktm make beautiful motorcycles, but Ducati truly is the Ferrari of two wheels
I bought one of these about a year ago after also trying the Grom, the Kawasaki Z125 and the cheap Chinese clones. I chose the Benelli mainly because it's a little bigger than the Honda or the Kawasaki, much more comfortable for me. And the extra power and 5-speed transmission are nice too. The quality seems to me at least as good as the Kawasaki or the Honda and to me it's better looking. There's a dealer near me.

most apple products are assembled in China so are most of your computer motherboards and other electronic parts. China once ruled the world in years gone pass during the Klan Dynasty. I sold both of my 2014 Groms which had Takegawa 181-4v engine once I bought my first 2020 Benelli TNT 135. Where can you get 5 speed, 4v 135cc engine, onboard oil cooler, LED lights, and cool looking for a lot less price compared to the Grom.
As a Benelli tnt135 owner, stock for stock it will beat the Z125 and Grom. Quality is actually really good. I have about 700 miles and average about 92mpg. The speedo has to be calibrated and the top speed is exactly 65. that is 5th gear on the limiter. It is super easy to work on. My biggest complaint is the total lack of under seat storage. Plan to shove your insurance and registration in your pocket or backpack.
@stever7627 No kidding. The fact that the government requires registration on a bike that legally isn't allowed on the highways. 🤔 My tabs for my grom were as much as my car. 2 years warranty, in my country parts and aftermarket is cheap and plenty enough. Had 2 1st gen groms, first one welded itself stuck during a 400 kms trip after warranty, second one blew 2 headgaskets and brake lever fell off within 20k kms. Not to say the benelli hasn't had its problems, the oem chain broke off before the first service, i need to adjust the chain every 200 kms because it tightens itself up, had to adjust the rear brake and throttle, valves need to be checked every 3k kms. However it has now over 40k kms (most of those were on highways near to 9 k rpm) and it is still alive. I also own a mt 07 with just 10k kms (0 problems) and a benelli 302s with 5k picking up dust in the garage due to a broken crankshaft, i am by no means biased. Also in my country the grom costs almost twice as much as the tnt (2600 euros vs 4500 euros)
I love my Benelli TNT 135 2022. I've done quite a bit of work and customization on my bike: after-market levers, gear shifter, vinyl wrap, light pod kit, gear indicator. It's a great bike and well made. I love the ergonomics and riding position. It scoots! (for a mini moto)
Where do you find aftermarket for these types of bikes? I'm just looking at getting into these. Got a ssr 140 pit bike I've always wished was street legal.
Nice looking bike but in the country that I live in, Grom parts are dirt cheap and plentiful. This includes a head with bigger valves (28/24) for $40, a block and piston upgrade (160cc) for another $40, a racing cam for $10, bigger injector for $12, higher flow exhaust $20 and ECU mapping for $15-$20. Everyone knows that Italian bikes are notorious for having loose tolerances and dirty assembly.
That's US dollars? What country are you in? The new Grom GP/SP and Spade 150 are most appealing to me, Grom looks great with the gold wheels. Know of any aftermarket companies for Spade 150? I only know of steadythrottle and mnnthbx.
The difference is: I have a Honda PC50 moped from 1970 that still starts first pedal and rides beautifully. I’d bet my Honda moped will still be running long after that Benelli is toast. Hondas are built to last forever if they are maintained basically, and the parts and service are easy to deal with. I prefer the Monkey to the Grom by far just on looks, but I’d never step away from Honda to save a few hundred bucks.
My biggest concern with it is aftermarket support, and the fact it's a vertical upright bike. I'd feel confident in saying that at least 40% of enthusiasts who buy the Grom (notice I said enthusiasts and not COMMUTERS) are stunters or people who pick up the front tire even slightly from time to time to have fun with the bikes lightweight nature. Having an engine that is vertical like this may cause serious oil starvation to the pump depending on where it's located, we'll see.
I love the idea of these little bikes but I really would need it to be able to do 120 km/h without issue to be usable where I live since you have to take the freeway to get just about anywhere. If these mini bikes were 150cc instead they'd be a lot more usable, I think.
You'd be surprised. If you use the "avoid highways" setting on Google maps, you'd be surprised how many B-roads there are in cities that can get you where you want to be. Sometimes faster than the highway if you get green lights. I used to ride a 250 in San Diego, but I never took the highway because I didn't wanna do 80mph all the time on it.
@@pauld.b7129 Depends on the town. In my large Canadian city, you need to take either 80 km/h roads (people go 100) or the freeway to get anywhere in remotely decent time. The Grom is nearly fast enough flat out, but another little bit would really make it more useful.
@Trevor Fluck It's just enough to make the difference of being able to take lots of the faster main roads. I don't think they offer the ADV150 here in Canada.
I looked at all the mini's, and I bought the Lifan. Had a bout a year now, NOT A SINGLE ISSUE!, its a 150, I'm close to 280 lbs, In my 70's , and I can do 63 mph without Redlining. I also put knobbies on it and as long as pick your line so as to keep in mind the low pipe, you can churn thru dirt with a serious grin on your face. For what I do, traveling secondary paved roads to run the dirt back roads that about in my US South Central rural area, it's simply one hell out of lot of fun. A lighter guy could change the primary sprocket and get 70 mph, good torque for a 150. Oh, last thing, the Lifan is less expensive than ALL the other mini's, and less than half the price of the Grom / Benelli out the door. Heck, in the state I'm in, there aren't even any taxes on the purchase cause the price is so low....:)
The Grom wins for me love it, I like everything about it, if I were going get something that was an alternative I would get that Honda cub trail just because it looks a great bike for me to go fishing on. great channel. I can get parts pretty easy for the Grom
The Grom has more aftermarket mod parts available than any other motorcycle made. Honda is #1 in quality. Grom is the #1 stunt cycle for beginners. The 125cc Honda Grom is $800 cheaper than the 125cc Honda Cub and $800 cheaper than the 125cc Honda Monkey ! The Grom has a better, more advanced suspension system than the Cub and the Monkey have.
The Benelli is better in almost every way. More power, 5 gears, larger frame, more seat space.... These look great with knobbies on them too. And what parts do you think you'll need? Unless you need to rebuild the engine, most things are universal.
Checked one out yesterday at the local Honda dealer in Maine . Ticket price was $2999 and walk out the door price was $4350 , taxes , doc , setup etc was pretty close to 42-45%of the the bike cost . WTH deciding not to venture down this avenue !!!!!!!! 🤬
I've checked these out (haven't ridden it) at my local dealer. They look decent, but taller riders are going to have their knees smacking right into the tank shrouds. Touch points are very important and that unfortunately makes this bike a no-go for me. Check out the Kymco Spade 150. It's more of a Honda Monkey killer given the retro styling, but it absolutely is a Grom/Monkey killer. It's a 4 valve head and makes 13 hp. I owned a Spade for a few months a couple years ago and it would push my 250 lbs + over 70 mph without tucking. For the $1500 I paid for that used Spade, it was a cool little bike. I did prefer the taller seating position on my Monkey and sold the Spade for a few hundred more than I paid.
The 135cc might be a disadvantage in europe as the A1 license requires 125cc or less. This bike would be in a whole other class just because of the minute difference in displacement :(
The grom is designed by Japanese but built in Thailand to Japanese specs. Thailand did not design the grom. The TNT 135 was designed by Italians but built in China to Italian specs. I got about 20k on mine no problems except my muffler mount broke and pipe cut into wires causing the fuse to blow. Finding parts and info is a bit of a problem but haven't had a grom pass me yet lol. The speedo is set wrong it will do 60 pinned.
Its all depends on the aftermarket parts availability, machine pricing, sales support, resale value and budget of individual riders. Some are so tight budget that they go for china made cfmoto motorcycles or even taiwan made sym or kymco. You are not wrong about the benelli though. But any given day, i wont feel ashamed of riding taiwan made tgb delivery scooter instead of the bmw gs adventure. I dictate my ride instead of my ride dictate me. If you’re talking Harley or a 1000 cc sport crotch rocket ‘styling’ is key, and I’ll admit it’s a real sporty looking small bike. But the Grom buyer pretty sure is most interested in reliability and conveniently located dealer network.
After over 20 years of riding. Currently own multiple RE’s, a Versys, a Harley. It’s been said below, the Benelli regardless will never approach the gram...parts service dealer network.
I have a Grom. It's the most expensive and most popular. Why's that? Aftermarket and build quality. And i put an intake and exhaust and it hits 65mph easily. My last Grom did 6,000mi of freeway. I've never seen a Benelli over 6,000mi even when babied. My 2015 stock Grom hit 72mph before the fuel cutoff.
Negatory buck rogers. I would stick with the Grom or Z125 pro.. This Beneli puts out 7.4 foot lbs of torque at 7000 rpm and the Z125 pro does 7.1 foot lbs of torque at 6000 rpm while the Grom puts out 8 foot lbs of toque at 5500 rpm. You get the same or more torque from Honda and Kawasaki at less rpm’s.
U say its a grom killer. But wat about aftermarket accessories, what about exhaust upgrades, what about pcv programming for this bike, what about dealer support and warranty, and what about the life of this engine can u expect it to last over 20k mi like the grom? I think ull find much if these are short coming with the bike much like the z125pro there isnt as many aftermarket accessories for the z125 as there is for the grom either. I would assume the benelli has even less available to it. And in small bikes its really all about the torque so they give u a bigger bike with like 1ft/lbs less torque then ur losing there. Ive personally got to 65mph on my 2022 grom on the flats on the interstate and my grom is completely stock. Ive done a max of like 75mph on the interstate but then it started to speed wobble these tires just werent designed for those speeds so they get out of shape over it literally. And im about 190lbs so i aint a light rider.
Cool bike but like Moto Guzzi there are no dealerships anywhere close to me. I also worry there are few accessories too. Maybe Honda better be careful 😎.
It’s nice but I’m pretty sure parts and accessories along with dealer network makes the Grom more desirable to own.
Dealers are sparse, but parts are super cheap, it really easy to work on, and hop ups, though not as plentiful are available stateside.
Thats what i was thinking ,,,is the parts and after sales service up to scratch. ..

Be warned.
What kind of issues did you have with yours? Mine is at the dealer right now having some hardware replaced - it was corroded by a leaking factory battery.
@@alexp6409 I was told it was fuel injectors the first time as it was as misfiring burning rich and bogging down to a stall. Second time was more serious and the dealer didn’t know what the fault codes were relating too. I stood my ground with him as the first time he had my bike for 3 months. He took it back and cut my losses with it. When it was running I loved it. But I lost confidence in it once things started to go wrong. Hope you have better luck with yours.
No way dude really ?
@@angelteamnolimit624 yeah it gave me a bunch of hassles. Couldn’t wait to get rid of it. I loved that bike too, never had a bike that got so many compliments and looks. I have a 2019 just turned 15,000 miles on it. Far as I can tell it doesn't use any oil still runs great and I can get 68 mph GPS speed. No regrets buying this. Supper cheap and easy to maintain.

Funny every competition of the grom can never get out from the shadow of the grom. They can’t be an original idea but instead they always wants to be “the grom killer “
And they never succeed.
It's like a Grom, but a Grom is actually a Grom
I have a Grom, but rode a TNT135 recently & the quality difference was amazing. The TNT controls were a lot tackier, the engine with 4000km's on it was rattling, the mirrors were awful & overall it had the feel of a cheap Grom copy. Yup, it goes a bit better, but for how long?
No it’s not. I have a grom and this benelli, and I would say the opposite. This feels better to me.
Tnt feels solid holds the road better. I have both
I had a 2017 grom and it was ok. But for a Honda it felt cheap. I would definitely have the benelli over the grom
@@benbarcham1500 tnt is a solid bike
Almost 4000 miles on my Benelli, and still going strong. I always change the oil, and run premium 91 octane. It's all about maintenance, if you maintain your bike it will last.
Thank you, Alex, nice to see you in front of the camera. Appreciate your opinions and reviews
I could be wrong, but I believe the Benelli comes with an oil cooler also. Due to the oil coil, better suspension, larger engine, larger bore they used to weigh about 28 pounds more than the grom.
The pickup is in the back of the motor so it can be stunted, just need to fill it a little extra

@@flibbertigibbet6200Are they transferable? Looking at one currently.
The Grom would have been worse. It's a 4 speed and has like 30% less power. Also isn't nearly as comfortable or good looking.
I've rode both, the Grom feels so much slower and lazier in it's power delivery. They are both good, I never liked the Grom to begin with though. Just too underpowered and the 4 speed bothered me, at least pre-2022.
@@pauld.b7129 11.3hp
65 mph on my 22 grom. Only exhaust so far was changed. But this TNT135 looks gorgeous
Personally, I would like to see Yamaha or Ducati cut into this market segment to see what they would come up with…
…
I have thought the exact same thing. YAMAHA R01 or R.1
The two best companies for beautiful motorcycles. Yamaha is the best styling for the big 4 and always has been. Aprilia and ktm make beautiful motorcycles, but Ducati truly is the Ferrari of two wheels
The Yamaha mt-03 is 200cc if I'm not mistaken but it's $4,500
I bought one of these about a year ago after also trying the Grom, the Kawasaki Z125 and the cheap Chinese clones. I chose the Benelli mainly because it's a little bigger than the Honda or the Kawasaki, much more comfortable for me. And the extra power and 5-speed transmission are nice too. The quality seems to me at least as good as the Kawasaki or the Honda and to me it's better looking. There's a dealer near me.

Where do you look???
I’m with that guy, I’m stuck on Honda Grom and I’m tryna Give this Benelli a chance but finding parts is just Painstakingly rough bro
Looks cool AF, but no fuggin way if “assembled in China.”
True I had one. It’s the benelli tnt 125 in the uk. Several breakdowns and dealer couldn’t get parts. A real pain when things go wrong, and they will go wrong. Dealer took it back and I bought the new Grom.
most apple products are assembled in China so are most of your computer motherboards and other electronic parts.
Sorry to break it to you, but most of your electronics may be assembled in china.
The Chinese are pretty good at making electronics. They are not good at making motorcycles.

Benelli has been in the Philippines for a years already. They don’t sell well. Re sale value is bad, not much accessories, reliability is in question.

I've got my 2017 grom up to 73 on a flat road. Happy with that
The Grom (and the Benelli) doesn't have enough horsepower to do that. Your speedometer is probably off by 10-15mph.
GROM is way smoother and fun to ride.

Great comment
My biggest concern with it is aftermarket support, and the fact it's a vertical upright bike. I'd feel confident in saying that at least 40% of enthusiasts who buy the Grom (notice I said enthusiasts and not COMMUTERS) are stunters or people who pick up the front tire even slightly from time to time to have fun with the bikes lightweight nature. Having an engine that is vertical like this may cause serious oil starvation to the pump depending on where it's located, we'll see.

Nice bike , still bought the grom sp 3 weeks ago.
I love the idea of these little bikes but I really would need it to be able to do 120 km/h without issue to be usable where I live since you have to take the freeway to get just about anywhere. If these mini bikes were 150cc instead they'd be a lot more usable, I think.
For sure !
TNT150? I'm not sure about reliability or accessibility, but it exist.
My buddy just bought a black one and he loves it
That think is absolutely KILLER looking
Just bought a 2022 Grom SP. Quality. Mine will runs for years after this SSR falls apart.
You know the grom is assembled in China right? Along with all the 300s and other small bikes.

Thank you for the information with the Benelli it's not too hard to make a decision plus we got the Lifan xp150 also
I would not trade a Honda for a bike designed in Italy and made in China just to save $400. If money is the major concern, save $1200 and get a Navi.
This bike would be in a whole other class just because of the minute difference in displacement :(
The benelli tnt 125 in the uk.
There is only the tnt125 in Europe. But I still need a A or A1 license to drive it since it's above 50CC, atleast in Bulgaria
The grom is designed by Japanese but built in Thailand to Japanese specs. Thailand did not design the grom. The TNT 135 was designed by Italians but built in China to Italian specs. Id spend the extra $400 on the grom. 1000% if you drop the grom or have issues, parts are super cheap and easy to fix.
I got about 20k on mine no problems except my muffler mount broke and pipe cut into wires causing the fuse to blow. Finding parts and info is a bit of a problem but haven't had a grom pass me yet lol. The speedo is set wrong it will do 60 pinned.
You know competition is fierce when , you talk down to decimal for hp..
This Benelli only cost like 2000$ in my country, and the Grom like 4500$.. Honda is reliable but too expensive for me
Its all depends on the aftermarket parts availability, machine pricing, sales support, resale value and budget of individual riders. Take this from someone who's bought in several cheap bikes and had trouble getting parts getting worked on go with the Honda you can have it fixed anywhere and it's a Honda top quality
It looks cool but the front turning lights are sticking out way to far from the head lights, they could break easily.
With gas prices going up everyday, its a good choice to have one of these for just going around town to run to local stores..........

You should look into getting a Honda Navi😃 The price is amazing and the parts are super affordable😃 plus it’s a Honda so you know it’s going to be reliable👍🏼
If you’re talking Harley or a 1000 cc sport crotch rocket ‘styling’ is key, and I’ll admit it’s a real sporty looking small bike. But the Grom buyer pretty sure is most interested in reliability and conveniently located dealer network.
how's this run against the kymco spade 150i ?
What is the 4 wheeler beside it
I like the idea of Honda having competition. But, for $400, I'll take Honda's reputation, and all the aftermarket and forum support of the Grom.
After over 20 years of riding. Currently own multiple RE’s, a Versys, a Harley. It’s been said below, the Benelli regardless will never approach the gram...parts service dealer network.

That headlight looks familiar. Is it a Hecatonchires?
I wonder if it’s the same Company as the gun maker? Very well made guns.
Really cool bike. My only issue is reliability over time . I will get a Grom over the Benelli because of spare parts and Honda's dealer network.
Would you recommend over the Kawasaki Z125 Pro?
How do you purchase one
How reliable would it be compared to the Honda?
i definitely dint know about these untill now top speed is a big deal for me so this would definitely do it imma try to test ride all 3 next week
What about parts and service?
A chinese bike sold under an italian brand name is surely a Grom killer... LOL.
Cool bike but like Moto Guzzi there are no dealerships anywhere close to me. I also worry there are few accessories too. Maybe Honda better be careful 😎.
I saw an oil cooler which the Grom doesn’t come with.
I've seen 63 on my 22 grom. I'm around 150 though.
