I had a 2020 RAM Bighorn...fully loaded 5.7l with chrome package... $41K. So basically doubled in 4 years. Wow. They can't figure it out. How about lower the price, sell more vehicles, make some money. Rather than raise the price, sell no vehicles, make no money. Not that hard to figure it out.

They made those cars by paying high price to raw materials. They can’t now sell at a less price. If they sell less price , then they are in loss. Selling at less price is like they are selling 2020 RAM for 20k. Now, if they don’t sell cars they are bankrupt, if they sell at less price they are bankrupt, their only hope is keep the price and lease for longer time. But in this case interest rate is prohibiting people from buying. They have this ticking bomb nobody wants. Feel sympathy for their lenders.

I love when they put turbos on economy or trucks cars, so they theoretically get 5% better mileage, actually get the same mpg or worse, cost more to maintain, won't last as long because they have more complex higher stress engines, and still cost more for gas cause premium is .70 more. A dodge with a turbo or supercharger has an expected engine life of 50k max, imo. Making cars with slightly better mpg that last half as long is much much worse for the environment than building v8's that basically get the same mpg but cost less to make, operate, repair and will last at least twice as long.

Do truck companies not realize that half a truck is just a bed with 4 walls and not even enclosed. These things should be cheaper than 4 cylinder cars. Trucks are so cheap in materials to produce but CEO's seem to think buyers won't realize this cause they are idiots so let's use them for huge profits.

    • @DaDeCodeIsTruth
      @DaDeCodeIsTruth หลายเดือนก่อน +8

that USED to be the case. Nowadays Trucks are packed with so much luxury and safety features they are as expensive to produce as many up market cars. nevermind that the V8s and bigger displacement engines are no longer shared among the cars and you end up with trucks being significantly more than your average car, and considering the utility they have, they are worth it. now 70-100k worth it?! i don't think so, but the consumers dug this whole. because they were paying for them until recently.

I've turned into a chrysler mechanic. All that has come in lately is chrysler products. Electrical issues, trans issues, engine issues. In the last two weeks, four blown 3.6 engines. I have a '22 Bighorn sitting here with 45k miles that Chrysler denied the repairs on a thrown rod. The engine is locked up with 15k miles left on the factory drivetrain warranty. But I guess warranties are only good when they say they are. Most of my customers are saying they don't want another Dodge. Even my sister-in-law had a '19 caravan with the 3.6 that I had to put a new head on for the #2 misfire issue. Supposedly they fixed the issue and didn't cover '18 up for the recall. She said she's done with them.
As a mechanic, I can honestly say Rams have so much crap on the engines, I really hate pulling them. If you think Fords are bad, do a new Ram, you'll change your mind. I just got the engine out of the '22 so I can install a salvage engine and get it done. The dealer quoted $14,500 for a new engine. The owner said no, came to me and now costing him $5500 with labor for a salvage yard 65k mile engine.
No wonder they are having issues. Fire the ceo. Fire the engineers. Go back to the drawing board.

They overstepped, disrespected the intelligence of their customers and now they are stuck holding the bag for all of these 100k+ work trucks essentially that nobody other than a construction business owner who can write it off would even consider. Regular guy on the street isn't taking out what amounts to a home loan for 8 years for 100k plus, he don't make that kind of money. The average ram driver 5 years ago was a guy working a basic construction job, he wasn't the owner. Now the owner is only guy who can afford a new truck.

I own a Grand Caravan. To replace it with a Pacifica with the equivalent trim level, I'd have to spend over 70K and that's without the sales taxes. The local Chrysler/Dodge/RAM/Jeep dealership here has lots of new inventory, but the busiest part of the operation seems to be Service. People are looking at prices for the new vehicles and choosing to keep their existing ones going by doing the recommended maintenance and repairs. That's what I'm doing. There seems to be a disconnect between reality and whoever sets prices at Stellantis. The market will speak and eventually the car makers will listen, but between those two points, there will be a lot of pain, mostly on the dealer side.

Too many idiots around me, I guess, paying full price on everything. Edit: or too many dealers who think if they can just keep their overpriced Pacificas on the lot, someone will eventually buy it. To be fair it comes from not long ago when plumbers and others trades would run vehicles way to long and then replace them with equally bad used vehicles when they broke down for good. Just because it passed yearly state inspections somehow does not mean it is safe. It just means the vehicle meets the minimums to be on the road.

Not only are the prices double or triple (from what they were) the interest rates on loans went up quite a bit as well. Meaning even if a less financially savvy person wants to get a loan for a Dodge at ~100k and put themselves in that kind of debt they will not be able to afford a monthly payment like that.
Interest rates on 60-month new car loans in the United States going from 4% (2021) to 8% (now) is a large jump on top of an already large jump in the vehicle price.
Things were bound to break and they have. Dodge needs to cut prices (probably by half) and move the inventory.

In July 2022, they were making great deals my son and I both bought new trucks, and if I told you what they did for me you would say I'm lying.
My son got a great deal as well.
Back then, they needed more trades, so we did well on our trades.
I snagged my new one right after it had gotten off truck and prepped.
There was a chip shortage they were saying and they were complaining about not having trucks to sell.
I wonder what skyrocketed prices and why dealar bumps raised so much?
Do they honestly believe we are going all electric soon?
It' cost a lot of time to charge it, and it still leaves a carbon footprint.
It is expensive because Tesla has the vast majority of charging stations.
Our power grid will overload because we have done no improvements on the grid to facilitate millions of electric cars.
The only way is hybrid, but look how complex the Ram truck is to maintain power and range a small six cylinder for when your batteries are dead.
A generator to charge your batteries, both running on gas.
All this for 2 electric motors, that eventually will need a full charge.
You have all kinds of electrical gadgets and screens drawing power, not counting night driving.
The cost of this truck will more than outweigh the fuel savings with your two electric motors.
Ford messed up with the lightning losing power while towing GM took forever at charging stations with their large suv platforms.
Nissan has a solid hybrid with a 1.5 liter gas engine dedicated to charging on the road. It went 700 kilometers with 200 left with out a charging station.
It can be charged on a regular 110 volt outlet and cost in the low to mid 20,000 range.
Is it small and basic, yes, but it works.

It’s amazing when the money stops flowing like a raging river, all these companies quit faster than they got started, amazing

My company had a fleet of 2022 Rams. We had to send 6 back because the starter knobs would not work. Freeze up on you. Then in 2023 we had several and when you road them over rough roads the battery cables would come lose and you had to carry your own wrenchs to bolt it back down. Quality of Rams is subpar at best. Oh they blamed the starter problems on bad chips. Lol

For whom willing to buy/prefer the V8 Hemi: Hemi have a big camshaft lubrification design flawn (I know by experience 😢). So, around 200k kilometers Hemi tick start to occurr with fuel consumption raising year by year, until premature engine failure (usually around 200k km, due to camshaft/lifter excess wear)

I mean what do you expect? When the CEO of Ford came out and said in order to afford one of our new trucks, you essentially need to make 6 figures. I know this was the CEO of Ford that said this, but to buy any new full-size pickup truck from the big 3 you need to make 6 figures or close. Unless you get a base model stripped down, it's gonna cost you $75k+. The top trim levels are all over $100k. Then the CEO retires, and gets a golden parachute after running the truck business into the ground.

The fact that RAM and Jeep leadership were literally publicly stating recently, “yeah we are going to maintain our high price point so we can be a *premium* brand” 🥴

I drove different versions of the Ford, GM, and Ram trucks when I was in the market to get a new truck in 2021.
Went with the Ram 1500 Laramie Sport in 2021 because it drove nicely, was VERY comfortable and had the features I wanted. I have plenty of load and towing capacity for my needs, and I've had zero issues with it. Saying that they are "the least desirable" is completely wrong. Most owners of the newer Ram's will likely say the same. They are nice.
That being said, I have no interest in buying a truck a 6 cylinder. When it comes time to retire my truck, I will likely not be looking at the 2025 Rams. I like the 5.7.
No, I also won't be paying 70-80K+ for a new truck.

If you are not using your vehicle. You at least run it round the block once a week so as parts do not start to seize up.And oil around the engine.these trucks have sat for 2 years.Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years.

Lot rot is bad for these for sure. Batteries go down and tires crack before 10 years
