I'm Bobby Gene, retired young to be caregiver for my wife, but after losing her to brain cancer I set out on motorcycle for three years to seek healing. To close the book on that final chapter, I sold our home and moved into my RV, 'The Independence'. Together we traveled as far as possible for 3 years, hoping to inspire others who have suffered a loss, while discovering new destinations, new challenges, and amazing people.

I've had this exact one for about a couple weeks and it is amazing honestly. I can see my blind spots on both sides just love it my cousin saw it and bought one a week later also and he loves it.

Just received the camera and had it installed in 5 minutes. Mounted the rear camera inside the hatchback under the center brake light of my Honda Element. Very happy with my purchase. Ordered Thursday and got it Saturday. Be sure to order the memory card and wiring plugs for fuse box. fyi, my element has tinted windows, now I can see the rear view better than before!

This would be very helpful due to limited movement with back and neck injuries and not able to twist and turn when your mirror doesnt show the widest view. Looks wonderful! So much all in one unit. I actually had incident in Vegas of guy stepping out in front of my RV (playing chicken stepping on and off curb). I gestured to my GPS like it was a camera and he stopped! Thank u for detailed review BobbyG. 🤗

I would choose this model, the screen is bigger, it has good low light visibility, and it looks less like a camera. The other cameras that sit on the dash separate and by themselves are prone to being stolen more often. I reviewed one before this in a video called 'Who hit my car', that is a great camera with infra red night vision. Cheers

Gee I didn't know they made those and that is a great thing for people that don't have even a backup camera. Not computer savvy so me and SD card would not be compatible but that is awesome. Enjoyed this and hope your doing well.

Nice! I love that some companies are going to this design, compared to the other designs that are out there. I currently have 3 wedge cameras in 3 different vehicles. I need another one for my work vehicle, but I do not want what looks like a camera in it lol. So this would work great for that!
Yes, with it just looking like a rear view mirror, less likely to be stolen. I hope auto manufacturers will make this tech a standard feature one day

Gene, thank you for another quality video and great product review. I have been following you (and subscribed) since your early days as an RVer. This mirror and camera would be a great asset to me. Since having open heart surgery in December of 2018, I have been unable to return to my managerial position due to stress levels. To meet our monthly expenses, I have been driving UBER here at Auburn University. Doing so keeps us fed and allows us to meet our monthly expenses, but leaves little for items such as this mirror. The mirror and cameras would make for a much safer experience for my customers, plus it would provide protection for me while providing proof in event of any accidents. I very much enjoy driving Uber and carry a very high rating with many satisfied reviews in my profile. Once again thank you for all you do to inspire and inform your subscribers. Wow game changer my rear view It’s horrible when it’s time to back up I got three head rest on my back seat and that’s all you see and the slant of the back window you just can’t see out your back window very good out your rearview mirror that would be a game changer would love it.

This looks like a product I have to have, either you give one or I going to buy one. I was in a fake parking lot claim last summer and this tool would of make it easier to prove I didn't hit anyone.
Yes, same thing with the last video I did reviewing the other dash cam. But it happened before I got the cam, but I had given it away to a viewer anyway lol

Yes but you would have to contact AKASO and have them send you a cam with wire of proper length, the included wire is 21' long.
I kind of just want to mount this on the rear window of my pick up truck but I’ve read the quality of the rear view camera isn’t good enough to produce a quality image when mounted in that way and also the image gets washed out from car headlights at night. Would you agree with that feedback?
I think the headlights wash it out if it's mounted too low, I didn't see any issues. Sure be great on the back of your P/U, I haven't gotten any negative feedback about that.

I need the night view through the rear camera to see if the glare through the headlights from the cars behind creates a star or cotton ball effect.

Excuse me for the long post. It's important. I've looked into products like this. (However, they are all "strap-on". Not replacements). In the reviews it looks great. Dash cam with backup cam features in a form factor that most would not know was there. But, put your smart phone at the rear view mirror and see if you can read it. Yeah not a fair comparison but it's not that far off. The tech is not there yet for an electronic device to replace the rear view mirror. If it was there, the top electric car makers would have it.
Here's why I've been checking out products like this one. I drive a company van that has a very limited side view when backing up. Backup cams are narrow in view. Backup cams don't help. I need to see what's coming down the street as I back up. There is no side windows on the van, the rear-view mirror is pointless due to the cargo. So I go slow hoping an approaching vehicle will let me out. Ultimate question. On a bright sunny day, through all the lighting glare, can you see what these mirror cams are showing from the back cam??????
Hiya Allen, I've tested a few of these and this one is my favorite model, for what it does. It is not something that needs to stay on constantly if you don't want, the device is a regular rear view mirror when the display is not on. But I totally get where you are coming from in looking for that tiny speck of a car coming from way down the road when you are trying to back up. This one has a very wide angle rear view, but not completely sideways. Cars and trucks in production today have the rear cam and sensors that cover the rest of the vehicle all the way around, and displays an actual cam overlay of the vehicle as seen from above by combining all of these views. Like my RV, for your situation I would install a separate monitor on the dash with quarter panel cams that look side and rearward, with a beeping back up signal. Good luck my friend.
Does the memory card write over old data once it runs out of memory?
In loop mode it will record constantly and when the card is full it will start over and over write what was there. If there is a clip you want to keep, you can simply tag it so that it will not be over written until you take it off the SD card. You can set the length of the clips to be recorded in settings.
Hello BG I am lucky to have a dash cam the wife said what do you need one of those for? On 1 July 2017 heading North on I-95 about a half mile from MCB Quantico while traveling at 60 mph a driver reacted to a sudden slowdown in the hammer lane I am in the middle lane with 1/3 of a mile of clear road this guy darted out I couldn't go right or left so I hit the brakes I went from 60 to 0 in about 15 feet? My dash cam caught the entire indecent there was no question as to guilt or innocence the other guy was charged. This is a very nice cam it makes sense on mounting it to the rear view mirror. I see that your friendly hand, and face are back in the picture they do a great job :-) Keep safe brother. Ed

Yes it is.
Issue with rear camera view in the wrong side, if I switch to mirror view the rear view mirror display correct view but the license plate are flipped because I'm in mirror mode. If turned off, the passenger side is seen on the driver side and vice versa for the other.

I have a van and one of my wife’s biggest complaint is that the headrests take up the whole rear view mirror. With people in the rear seats it is even dangerous not being able to see what is going on behind you. This would make traveling much safer.

@@nkojic Yes it is difficult to choose. If you want my personal opinion, I would prefer this camera more than the camera I will be doing next. The forward looking camera is attached, less wires. The next camera I'm doing the front camera is separated with a wire attached. Up to you.

What's a condo on the water go for in steamy hot Florida? Own & Rent cost.
Condo on the water run any where from 300k and into the millions depending on how big. A tiny 900 sq. ft. place can easily run 300k and the HOA fees are crazy! Weekenders can pay 2k vacation rental. I'm not sure how much a seasonal snowbird will pay.

You behave your self at Lou's Blues I miss Early's down in Sebastian and some times Malabar Moe's would have some great bands I put one in the wife's car she has been hit twice in Costco and of course they did not leave their info. It's a great area to be lots of entertainment just have to behave your self and not get carried away with the Drinking especially when riding the steal, horse.

3:52, you like the glare? That’s a first. Most people complain about it. Seems dangerous to me. There are better dash cam mirrors that deal with the glare so you just see the screen.
Sup Deadpool! It's not really glare, it's mostly just the interior transposed (overlay) on the mirror. They have a anti-glare film that you can put on there as with the other mirror cams I reviewed. I prefer a bit of an overlay of the interior on the mirror for reference, you can still see through it, and depending on lighting you can't see it at all. Cheers!

Hmm, I suppose someone could, likewise while looking at a navigation device on the dash. There's really nothing to see in the rear view but what's behind you so I doubt if they would watch very long.

OMG!!

2 cons. Wires and no garage door functionality.
Yes not a fan of wires, but having had plenty wifi cameras before, the signal is so choppy, and batteries, always some issue. Garage door functionality would be a good idea. But, like with my car, there are factory buttons there for that on the overhead already.
